[Confused-Shepard]

When I first heard that Mass Effect 3 was going to have multiplayer, I laughed my ass out. Then I heard that it was going to be 4-player Co-Op and you can choose species and class, a tear of joy came out of my eye as I realized that wittle casey wudson was all grown up now. 

But seriously, why even bother? Is EA/Bioware missing a few brain cells? Who the heck are they competing with? I mean it's one thing to have co-op or competetive player in games like Saints Row & Assassin's Creed respectively, both of which offer a unique gameplay experience than just run & gun. On the other hand Mass Effect with it's rather cookie cutter, by the book, cover based, third person combat, broken only by the liberal application of powers seems like a poor choice to put multiplayer in.

I'm sorry Bioware Montreal (they are developing the Co-Op) but most won't touch your hard word because people don't play Mass Effect for the experience of consuming cheetos, drinking mountain dew and fightin **** with their homies. They play it for the charecters, exploration, the lore, the galactic scale, the science fiction etc.

Who are you competing with? Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3 & EA's own Battlefield 3? You think developers dedicated to multiplayer who have been doing this for years will suddenly be usurped by a bunch of newcomers? People would rather play those games for their multiplayer 3rd person combat. Talk about wasting your time. 

Not to mention that while back in the day even games like Deus Ex (some of the custom maps were CRAZY!) & Neverwinter Nights had multiplayer and was considered a welcome addition but that was in the hey day of PC games. Now multiplayer is miostly the realm of drunkard fratboys and immature 12 year old reatrds screaming obseneties into a mic. These people are unforyunately more common than smart, mature people who also play games.

Sure, we'll all give it a go. But then stop when we realize it doesn't have the magic of singleplayer and is just us and 3 friends on a frentic shooting spree while spouting species appropriate dialogue/game quotes and maybe making the Krogan teabag the Asari while the Salarian makes sex noises and the Turian watches in abject horror. 

Don't feel bad. It's good you gave it a try. But then don't feel bad when people stop paying attention to the co-op and EPIC or DICE show up at your doorstep and pinch your cheeks while declaring, "AWWW! Look at wittle Bioware thinking they can play ball (multiplayer) with the big boys"

Again, nice try Bioware but you just wasted a ton of money & time.
Mass Effect will always be the handsome geek to the mutated monster jocks of multiplayer shooters

Very well said. I've been saying this for the past few days. but no one wants to listen. They want to be optimistic fools. We will see who's "trolling" when the game comes out. I personally, think EA games is the worst troll the Internet has ever seen. They've taken a game, warped it beyond repair and are still trying to sell it for the same price.

If I were to give blame for this decision, it's towards EA, not Bioware. EA don't just finance their sub companies concerning their games, they also make demands. What really irritates me is the countless posts by Bioware that they have so many resources to allocate during developement which is why (insert solution to a problem/useful feature here) wasn't implemented and EA is making them waste some of these resources on a feature that isn't needed at all instead of letting Bioware allocate them elsewhere.

they are in competition with every other game out there really. genre-ing doesn't remove teh fact that (while I and everyone here knows it won't sell as much) even games like Mass Effect are in competition with games like Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War. how? because the vast majority of people out there that buy games only buy a few games a year (especially new games). these people buy their yearly Madden and shooter or racing game and maybe one other game. this "one other game" is what Bioware/EA and everyone else out there is competeing for.

regardless of genre every game is indeed in competition with every other game for that "one other game" slot that people have.

I have to wonder why people keep bringing up COD when talking about Mass Effect. Seriously, the games have nothing to do with one another. Just because they added co-op doesn't mean the game is anything like Call of Duty.

I and many other people may sure be optimistic 'fools', but we're also simply realistic. No matter how much these forums complain, the game WILL ship with MP so what else is exactly left for fans then hope for the best, that the game and all its components will still turn out great?

I don't really think I'll play multiplayer very much in mass effect 3 but, I'm sure it'll be fun. Also, some game companies that had great single player added multiplayer such as naughty dog. Now you're telling me two years later, the industry has DRASTICALLY changed? NO. it hasn't there is still a market for single player fans and Bioware is successfully fcking them away.

And, your point is? I was talking about shooters here. Skyrim is not a shooter and even then I would debate the inclusion of multiplayer in the slow, over complicated gameplay that is trademark of the Elder Scrolls series. But oh look, Bethesda removed multiplayer from the game! 

Neither Skyrim nor Mass effect need multiplayer. Does Bioware know better than Bethesda? Those guys are like Western Nintendo. Once again, huge waste of resources. Mass Effect would do better remaining reletively unique. 
Mass Effect 3 needs better and deeper singleplayer to compete with Skyrim, not multiplayer

How does that make you a "realist"? Have you been on these forums at ALL? I've seen fans throw huge tantrums over s/s relationships, Ashley's clothing, barbie sheppard. And what happened? It was changed. SO,  no, this "complaining" business does sometimes effect the game.
Though, that is not why I am complaining. I am complaining because I am disgusted with their behaviour.


Let's also keep in mind that it's because morons were complaining about multiplayer that it got bloody implemented in the first place. So you take that "realist" crap back to where you found it.

Yeah, starting to work on the multiplayer co-op mode about a year and a half before release and then announce it about five months before the same date is so much "in the last minute" and "slapped on".

Stop being so butthurt. You're even bad at that.

Oh, and by the way. You're just pathetic if you think that playing a game somehow makes you better than everyone else.

They're competing with other games. I mean it's not like Mass Effect is the first thing that screams into most gamers when they thing of a video games it's usually things like COD, Halo or Fifa and I am pretty sure that Bioware, like any other game developers, wants to be at the top of the chart.

Even if that is true. WHICH I DOUBT. I'm pretty sure I've seen some Casey quotes saying ME3 would not have MP much earlier than 1 and a half years ago.

A good game needs more than "a year and a half" of development time. Again, look at DA2. All this shows to me is that, Bioware has less time and money to focus on a single player experience.

Barbie Sheppard, s/s, Ashley's clothing, Vega's hair and all the stuff like that costs next to nothing to get changed/implemented/removed, compared to MP mode that has been in developement for at least a year now = EA spent tons of cash paying people to work full-time on it. Ashley's new outfit will get done in 2 days, Barbie Shepard thing was fixable in 2 seconds by changing the color of hair texture. MP was a big investement EA would never drop at this point, they would waste millions of $$$ they've spent on its developement in the past year or more. So hell yeah it's realistic to expect the game will ship with MP no matter how much fans complain. There may be some changes to MP based on fan feedback/complaints, but they would never drop it all together, it's too late.

Most fans didn't want multiplayer Zeel, I for one didn't want it, although now that I've heard what it is I'm going to give it a chance as it does sound fun and hopefully the main game wont be effected by it. I will reserve my judgment on it until then.
