That applies to RPG sequels in general, not just these books. The Dragon Age series as it is takes a certain risk by changing up the party and protagonist with every new game (or, hell, expansion pack, as the case was with Awakening), and while they do a good job at introducing new characters and perspectives to expand the world, it can be more difficult for a lot of people to "get into it" without at least some familiar faces offering a tangible connection to the larger series. This is why Resident Evil pretty much stopped introducing new player characters after RE2, and resorted to just bringing back Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, or that Rebecca Chambers chick from the first game. Sure, they introduce new faces (Billy Coen in RE0, etc.), but keeping the regulars around is a way of keeping the games more obviously connected to one another (even if there isn't really much of a connection in the first place... see RE4 and its random Las Plagas tangent).
I had a bit of a time getting into Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne because apart from Loghain, everyone was a mystery to me. I had a much easier time with The Calling, because although there were a lot of new faces, I was already invested in Maric thanks to the first book and the presence of Duncan and the Architect made everything feel so much more relevant and not just like an expanded Codex background story. The fact that it had more to do with Grey Warden lore certainly helped as well.
I had a similar problem with Hawke's gang in DA2, but then familiar faces started trickling in... Flemeth, Merrill, Merethari, Anders, Cullen, Bodahn, Sandal, that random-ass dwarven merchant from the Dwarf Commoner origin story... and it helped it feel like Kirkwall was a part of the Dragon Age universe. It's not a major thing, but it helps keep me in my comfort zone.
If future novels don't mesh with your own personal timeline, then just take them as "what-ifs" that exist outside of your own universe. Expand the lore, keep it separate from your own experience. You've heard of the multiverse theory, right? It still happened, it just... didn't happen for you.

My only complaint is that it is kind of annoying to see Alistar still complaining about the throne after 8 years.

My only complaint is that two weeks is an awfully long time to wait for the next episode.
I hope you keep on publishing content after the Silent Grove finishes.
Thanks for the stories. <3

Good issue , but the teasing...!We 've got some answers but they just give a lot more questions, grrr.
I like it but i hope we won't have to wait years ( like between The Stolen Throne and the comics) to find out about all this mysteries.

Seriously, though, I'm loving the story so much and can't wait to see where it goes. It's great to see Alistair again, and Isabela's artwork is gorgeous.

You, sir, know how to spin a damn good yarn. Great characterization, humor, interesting plot threads all tying together nicely...yup, this one is awesome.

Just read issue 5, and the story seems to be kicking it into high gear. I particularly liked the fight between Izzy and that prince. It seems that Isabela can be pretty disarming when she wants to be.
Ugh. Claudio is a prince of something? Prince of ****tery, maybe.

Exactly... I'm almost not looking forward to final issue 6, seeing as how I'm fully expecting a cliffhanger.TheJediSaint wrote...

Yea, not sure how this will be resolved in one issue.
It says there's gonna be a new comic series starting in July or something. So, I assume the next issue will end in some way that makes us all want to keep reading the next series - either with a huge cliffhanger, or a hint at another mystery to solve. Tho I hope it's the 2nd option.
