Varric, Isabela, and Alistair are going to hunt and kill Flemeth so the DA3 protagonist can be responsible for her resurrection...

Maybe DG will impose more of his personal cannon & make Alistair the father of the OGB, which is what they are possibly searching for.

David Gaider went from designing mods like Ascension (I doubt the kids will know what I am talking about) to writing comic books for anime-crazed wapanese. Embarrassing. I wish talented people like him concentrated on old school RPG design rather than wasting time on 13 year old console anime addicts.

What's a "wapanese"?

It's Flemeth and she's a dragon.

The article of choice is interesting - a versus the.

I know. That's why I pointed out that I thought it was Flemeth. What other witch would Alistair be looking for?

Besides Morrigan, of course, but she's not in Antiva... Unless Antiva is a magical wonderland behind a mirror. Image IPB

Maybe all of the Eluvians together make a mirrored disco ball. And Antiva is actually Xanadu.

Dammit, now I'm pissed Merrill never fixed her eluvian.

Hawke could have gotten herself a nice pair of Antivan leather boots...

*Sigh*

I'm not even gonna on this.

I'm gonna comment on something else:

twitter.com/#!/davidgaider/status/125355811768766464

So... From this comment, he's essentially saying that this is NOT a canonization(if that's a word), in which case, i have to ask.... Then What is this? and Why are they doing it?

The article of choice is interesting - a versus the. So it's either Flemeth...or Morrigan, or another daughter of Flemeth (assuming that said daughters wear the proper noun "Witch" mantle).

There is the one banter between Morrigan and Zevran wherein Zevran makes mention of a Witch of the Wilds in Antiva,  where he insinuates Morrigan could have a sister.

But if they're looking for Morrigan? Yeah, then I'll easily ignore this.

Which also means that the Dark Ritual is canon is this universe, as otherwise the Warden couldn't have gone on to do Awakening/Golems/Witch Hunt and be mentioned at the end of DAII.

Sigh, I might as well completely give up on Dragon Age...

Its basically the same thing as his book coming out, Asunder, which does the same thing, canonizing certain events from Origins and so forth.

I do wonder if this canon/default universe Gaider is rolling with is the same as the "default" Origins world state which can be selected for DA2, with the Warden being a Human Noble who did the DR and had Alistair as King?

That's rather sad if you're going to give up on a very interesting franchise just because they're doing things a little differently than Mass Effect.

The writing team wants to develop existing characters and they aren't going to avoid them for the sake of your personal canon. Same for the Warden, they wanted players to enjoy their Warden more even if they did the US. That doesn't mean the Warden was actually in Awakening if you imported that save into DA2. Whether it was your Warden or the Orlesian Warden is left intentionally ambiguous.

But apparently it kills people when they're expected to use their imaginations a little bit.

No it does not, this is Gaiders Thedas, if your Thedas is not like his then this story, same as the upcomnig book happen diffrently or not at all. It's not hard to grasp.

In my eyes and the Sacred Ashes/Awakening Trailer it always seemed like this was the Canon Origin in the Dev's eyes.

Even then, ME has done similary things. They throught he whole counclor(sp) choice out the window, destoryed TIM as a character and made Cerberus even a biiger joke. The books and comics hurt ME alot.

I don't see how it can't be canonization, By putting Alistair in this medium, it will be very tricky to make work because I have a feeling no romance with Alistair in Origins can exist...or at least be mentioned at all...because that slip would then mean ALL MALE HEROES OF FERELDEN did not exist. :o

Oh come on, TIM has become such a more fleshed out and interesting character because of the comics!

I don't really get why they're overriding player's own DA universe like this though. I mean, yes, I understand why they're doing it for the reasons like Seagloom mentioned, but it just seems kind of pointless. The DA universe is really freaking huge. Why not expand on that such that in can nicely segue into any one player's DA universe instead of this sort of thing which from its very inception doesn't work with anyone who's Alistair isn't King?

I mean, who is going to buy this stuff? Most likely already existing fans of the franchise, who all have their own headcanon which they likely care about more than any other BioWare set default world. If your primary interest is the games, all this stuff feels like Bizarro World fan fiction that overrides the player's universe. *shrugs*

None of my choices have been overrided though. Well yet anyway ^_^
