I couldn't find the Drakonvein whateveritscalled so I had to look it up on the wiki..
I had a rough time with the Sky Horror even on Casual. I barely got by it on the third or fourth try. I don't really remember how many tries. What are some Tactics to try out on it? I don't know how people are getting by it.
Well I'm done with the first hunting section the DLC is good so far. If I have more to say may be I will keep posting in this thread.

Stay away from it, its spirit shield hurts.

Avoid it's two AOE attacks, and focus all your damage on it when he pops up.

If you have a mage in your party or, if your Hawke is a mage, BRITTLE the Sky Horror as soon as he appears, then use fully upgraded Drop Dead from Tallis. That does insane amounts of damage in one hit (around 40%).
Alternately, if your Hawke is a rouge, you can use BRITTLE --> Assassinate, or STAGGER --> Vendetta (with upgraded Lacerate). Or, if Hawke is a Warrior, you can use BRITTLE --> Mighty Blow (2H), or DISORIENT --> Assault (S&S). Basically, fire off a high damage CCC ASAP. That way, you can avoid his annoying AoE cloud completely, because after he takes a hefty amount of damage, he will go into hiding for a while. After that, watch for assassins. If they go into stealth, use Cone of Cold, Pull of the Abyss, Fist of the Maker, etc...to pul them out of stealth. Or bait them with the dog or with decoy. Once you clear out some of the enemies, Sky Horror will return. Once again, fire off a high damage CCC, before he can do any damage. After that, clear out any remaining enemies and wait for the Horror to appear again. When he does, CCC his ass one last time, and that should be it.
This is a farily challenging fight, so it may take a couple of tries to get it all right.

Just be aware mr_afk that the Sky Horror fight is the only really challenging one in this dlc. If you're happy with the focus being more on story/lore/puzzles etc you'll enjoy. Combat wise Legacy was way tougher and included a lot more.
I just finished playing with a post game save and would like to have the chance to pick up a makers sigh for Tallis to reassign her stats (30% crit chance my backside). Ah well, next time I guess.

The thing is I cannot avoid the AOE.(The deathcloud) By the time the sky horror casted it, my party members pretty much died in 2 ticks. Dispel magic seems to be broken and only work 50% of the time.

As frustratemyself said already, the Horror fight is the only real challenge in the dlc. There are a couple of more fights that are well done and entertaining, but not really all that challenging. Overall, it's a fun piece of dlc and, if nothing else it's really fun to play as Tallis (ranged DW assassin ftw).

Dispell works very well, as does Cleanse, and even Pommel Strike. It's just a matter of timing.
This is a very difficult battle though. I would pause the came immediately when it started to cast and either move party and/or attack with everything I had to stop it from casting. Dog is also helpful.

Haha thanks frustratemyself & relix- it sounds amazing but I'll probably get it during the holidays (so in a month or so).
I'm sure the speedruns of this fight can wait a bit

I was playing hard, got killled twice as mage. then I remembered Aveline had a few shields for different attacks. I hit sky with everything then when sky put to using a AoE spell just had dog, Aveline and me attack Sky, the rest attacked elsewhere.

Please remember Runes of Spirit warding and Nature warding make a huge difference in this DLC and fight. Talk about pulling the teeth out of a monster's bite, those make it much easier to survive.
