Marrying DA:O and DA2: If You Had to Choose One Feature From Each...

I'll start:
Dragon Age Origins = The return of Origins and race choice with it (I want to play a female Tal Vashoth in DA3 Bioware!)
Dragon Age 2 = Rapid pace of combat

I want the race choices, the scope, the companion interactions, and the not-fade-to-black romances(should i decide to romance at all) from Origins with the speed, tactics, and combat styles offered in DA 2. Any amalgam other than this, IMO, is not a marriage. If it turns out as I suspect it will, with 3 being 2 only with a couple "more in-depth RPG paths"(implied future-quoting a dev) translated to mean "we will definitely give the PC's a couple of actual choices in 3, cuz wow that whole no-choice thing really blew up in our face with 2" then that's not a blend. That's sticking with the whole 'we need to up sales by bringing in casual gamers', which has blatantly not worked, but trying to get Origins fans to come back with promises of a 'return to what fans expect'.

Dragon Age II: Friendship <-> Rivalry.
One to determine the type of respect, one to determine it's magnitude.

-Friendly/Rivalry system
-Crafting system
-Dialogue wheel
-Voice acting for main protagonist
-Hawke personalities: sarcastic, agressive, diplomatic
-Banter, hawke participates in it too
-Gifts, few but with dialogue and background history
From DAO:
-Isometric Camera
-Less linear story, different decisions that have different consequences
-Different origins
-Equip your companions with armour and weapons
-Strategic combat
-You can talk to companions outside of the camp
-Art design, more realistic and varied areas. No over the top graphic effects or animations.
I think that should be it, more or less.

For the same reason I would like to be able to equip my companions with different armour. If keeping the current system of dedicated armour and upgrades, make sure that right from the word go, the armour upgrades still carry over if something causes it to change, like engaging in a relationship. Before getting the patch I was having to ensure that I didn't do any purchases/quests that involved armour upgrades until the romance had been consumated, which is very restricting.
I would like to have ranger back with the variety of summoned animals but failing that keep dog.
I liked the dialogue wheel but would prefer it if the prompts match what actually comes out of the PCs mouth. Also not make certain prompts only available with a heart symbol even though that is what you want to say but do not want to flirt.
I would like it to be possible for the PC to have some control over the progress of romances as per Origins and for that matter over getting to know companion as a friend. I used to enjoy being able to stop for a chat on a particularly lengthy quest.
I liked the way the crafting system worked in DA2 but still think that the ability to mix potions of varying types should have been limited to certain classes.
Different origin stories and able to play different races. New interesting companions that you haven't met before. (No bringing back characters who bear no resemblance to how you knew and loved them or even hated them in an earlier game.)
Choices that really do make a difference. If you are meant to be playing politics then show that you can actually influence people in a meaningful way. Allow events to unfold that do not make the PC look like an idiot for being unable to prevent them.

Interface: Something more like origins, most of DA2's stuff looked bland and unapealing(especially for sutff your staring at most of the game).
Mabari: Keep as guest/pet but bring back some of the custamizability and ability to command it.
Character: Bring back multiple races/origins.
Companions: Bring back talks outside of set scenes, also bring back nonimportant gifts (both good and bad kinds).
classes: Bring back some of the origins/awakening specializaions that were left out. Maybe also have your specializations have bigger impact on how people react to you.

Adding to combat, while I liked the more rapid pace of DA2. I didn't like the... well, let me put it this way.
Some of those animations characters do, rogues especially, look more like they should be in a Fighting Anime or something.

Indeed. Also fewer exploding people. I just stabbed him with a knife I didn't make him swallow a grenade.

I know one feature of each was the question, but what kind of question is that? You can't make a proper game with just one feature of each.

You can't, the question was to name a feature from each one you would like to see in DA3, not how you would like DA3 to be overallAlexXIV wrote...
Basically Origins with graphical overhaul, full voiceover and combat system improvement. I don't need DA2 gameplay/combat, dialogue wheel or railroading. If they had just improved DA:O features instead of changing them completely they had saved money and would have ended up with a better product. Basically they put alot of work into DA2 which mostly didn't make it a better game. I mean DA:O worked for me. They could just have made it work better, but no, everything needed to be different ... that's my problem with it.

People on this thread are having a very difficult time restraing themselves to two.
