If it requires Origin to run I won't play multiplayer at all. If it doesn't then I'll give it a shot after my 2nd or maybe 3rd playthrough, not before. I'm having a lot of fun with my 'shotgun only' vanguard in ME1 right now though, would be nice if a Krogan could wield 2 shotguns at the same time, then I would definitely start multiplayer with a Krogan.

Probably play my first playthrough completely without it. I want to experience the epic conclusion to an epic single-player trilogy as it should be.

Then probably try it out and see how it is. I am looking forward to being able to play as a Turian.

No plans at all, I don't have internet connection on my game computer. So for me it's useless feature.

It's probably gonna be and my bro (who just started playing ME2 because of MP) for most of the time since none of my other friends play Mass Effect or know about it.

Since I'm not a big fan of MP modes in general so I plan on not playing it. 

The only ways I would have play Mass Effect 3 or any other game's MP mode is:

1) I play with friends that I know and trust.

2) I get into a rare mood state where I want to inflict pain on myself. 

3)  I absolutely have nothing better to do with my life than waste my time with a MP mode of any video game (other than UNO, UMK3, X-Men: The Arcade Game, or TMNT: The Arcade Game).

4) The MP mode is unquie and/or different than the standrad crap that is out there now.
 
5) If it's the only way to advance the single player mode's storyline.

You're in luck.  It's not.

At any rate, I intend to take advantage of the multiplayer.  If it's splitscreen, that will be easiest for me.  If not, I'll have to renew my Live subscription and pin down my excessively busy friends.

If it can be played solo, I'll try it until I'll probably discover it can't be played the same way as single player because of multiplayer restrictions then I'll angrily switch off my X360.
If it can't be played solo then I won't touch it at all.

I did this with Dawn of War 2 Retribution.  Only played singleplayer since i'm still MPed out from MMOs of a decade ago and more recently GW (which was my non MMO, MMO for the longest time and never touch pvp in MMOs or games w/ MP).  Then I actually tried The Last Stand coop mode and was hooked.  There's something about well thought out coop modes which appeals to non MP players if it doesn't involve a lot of grinding, min/maxing, interplayer drama etc. I think a lot of people may change their mind if ME coop proves to be a lot of fun like The Last Stand.  It's also cool to have another perspective on the Mass Effect world other than Shepards MP or not.

My plan is to play an Asari Adept.  Always had a thing for Adepts since it's all I ever play.  Will probably play all the missions after I unlock Asari race in SP. That's if it's true you have to play and gain a race in SP before playing them in MP (good feature since it forces everyone to play SP at some point).  I really like to maximize my singleplayer playthroughs in RPGs and having a few extra "Readiness" points to kick around doesn't force me to make certain decisions in SP which I feel I "have" to do.  Instead I can take the mantle of another character and help take the fight to the Reapers in other ways.

Close.  I intend to simply ignore it.  The multiplayer cheerleaders say it isn't necessary to Shepard's story so I won't use it.  Simple.

You do realize that Battlefield 3 is also published by EA.  It stands to reason if they would require Origin for Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, they would most likely require it for Battlefield 3.  Not saying they will in either case.
