For whatever reason when I press config on the menu before playing the game I get an error (seen in picture).

I tried going through the ProgramFiles(x86) and finding ME2 and the .exe in there but it's the same result. Any suggestions on what is going on?

Here's some standard info on my PC (idk why I didn't include this to begin with):

Alienware M17x R2
8GB RAM
Dual 4870s ATI Mobility
Windows 7
Most recent version of game with all DLC
i7 Quad core
3.8 GHz processor speed
DX10

Without the standard problem report's basic information, any suggestion would be nothing but a WAG, so collect the missing data and include it, or continue to wait, and wait, and wait . .

@Gorath: Its a bit hard for him to follow the instructions in the sticky, as it tells him to grab the system details from the ME2 config utility.

@ME1292: Have you installed the 1.02 patch. If not, then do so. Are you running it with admin privilages when you access it? Have you tried running it in XP compatibility mode?

Fixed that part (I forgot that she made her guide quite so limited, Chris' version hadn't done that).

In order to post the guide to reporting problems that is now pinned on top of the ME-1 Tech Forum, I used Chris Priestly's version from ME-2 as my basis.  I supposed it's still around, buried in the archives now.  I don't think that either Chris or I referred to the Config Utility . . maybe it's time I re-read my editing job there.

I also always mess up spelling his name.  I think there was a historical personage with an "E" in between the L and the Y and that's why I keep on putting one there.  (Yup, there were a big bunch of 'em; Chris is the only famous person without any "E").

If you can't change settings through the configuration utility, you can still change them through the configuration file. My Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\BIOGame\\Config\\GamerSettings.

I'll try redownloading the patch. Maybe something got mixed up somewhere. If that does not work I'll repost.

I included the basic info on my PC (I can't believe I forgot to do that lol).
