That would be cool, those assassins looked like interesting characters to play.Iveforgotmypassword wrote...
I've got a couple of assassin's in my module that I thought about doing this sort of thing for and you could have been one or the other (male/female) but that was to be a completely separate mod and not coming in the middle of another. I salute your intrepidness and wish you well.

You are most assuredly right. I was thinking to wait till you are done then ask if I can use all your great scripts
I love the idea of a rogue mod but I lack the skill to do what you are doing, which IMO is doing it properly. Also I can't get side tracked now. Solaces story is an ideal opportunity to do somethig a little different without deviating from the main project at hand.

Bah! We'll do a bard module. It'll be singing and dancing and wooing all the way. At the end you get your arse kicked in an alley by some little farmgirls and have to write an epic poem about it.
Farmgirl? That would not be Mary would it. If that's the case I would rather be kicked by her than bitten.
But you are right, something with singing in might fill a gap in the market.

The screen shows one of several wilderness areas. The areas are coming together as is the plot, the dialogue much slower
My concept is that, if you choose to play Solace, you have just come out of the back of a three year journey to take vengeance for your maiming at the hands of another npc. What you have discovered is that the hatred you felt and the wounds you still bear have, over time, defined you. Now that the the hatred is gone the wounds you carry no longer seem relevant, the vengeance you still seek seems hollow. Were it not for that fact it is not you that you seek to wright a wrong to, you might well just let it drop. But it is your father for whome you seek justice and that cannot be left to lie. You find yourself in a vacuum, alone by choice but regreting that deeply.
Writing that into the dialogue is tough especially when I like to use a very terse style with a few words per npc line as possible. I will do it though and be judged on the results
In the end this journey is driving Solace back to where this adventure started for her. First to Ember, who you will work with to achieve common goals, and, through her, to the main PC in the campaign. The module will provide a conherent back story for both Ember and Solace to be main npc's in the last part of the campaign. I may also take the time to develop the last npc who will be avialable for the last part (Harald Goodwinson) but timescales within the campaign plot may preclude that
If you don't play Solace? ... well then it's just another module with a decent plot and some nice areas (I hope).

That is a sign of progress in and of itsself.
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. No doubt you are up to the task. I like the way you are going about this story and I think it will work.

... and a ninja is just a cowboy without a gun... and a horse... and leather chaps... and catchy one-liners... well, maybe a ninja could have catchy one-liners, but they would be different from cowboy catchy one-liners.... okay, maybe a ninja isn't a cowboy.

It is all coming along well. I am into the second half of the module (I got up to 40 areas so I have split this one). I have the second part ploted out and around one third of the areas and conversations are complete.
I decided to have three paths to complete one of the quests in the first part and that has slowed progress a lot. I hope the choice it gives makes it worth the time it takes to create multiple paths.

I agree about giving the choice of different paths, even if they might ultimately lead to the same ending. For me, it's about the journey more than the destination. I think allowing a character to be role-played given varying circumstances adds a lot to the fun. Also, I don't replay adventures, so how would I ever know (from a non metagaming perspective) that the results might be the same. I would rather have the opportunity to select a choice, make a decision, or choose a path suited to the dwarven fighter I might be playing.
I see your progress marker is at 45%. Good luck with the rest of the project. I still have to get caught up with These Dark Days of Waiting.
Harumph!

I think many like you only play once and for that reason lengthy multiple paths may be wasted. I did it in this case because some might not find some of the choices I give palatable.
I think it adds something though. I hope others agree
