It's one of the lean toos scaled a bit to match the earth slope :)

Thanks guys for the encouragement. All I have to do not is 4 - 6 months work and I can release it Image IPB

There's a leaning tool? I want one!:o

BTW, did I mention I like your screen shots. Practically
town ones I know how much time that takes.

I realy wish there were an easy to use leaning tool.

Thanks for the comment, towns take the longest for me, the detailing takes up most of that. After that woodland is a real killer.

I am a fan of flat green landscapes with no placeables or grass but I have not yet found a place in a mod for one :)

It's been a while since I updated, things are moving on.

The second part of the module is taking shape and is almost halfway there. There is a section that takes place in Neverwinter and this is my version of the moonstone mask. I think OC versions have been too toned down "Tart with a heart" type places. I don't go into salacious dialogue but I present a visually (I hope) more basic/rough area with a very particular soundscape. For those who don't have smelly vision monitors imagine cheap perfume and beer.

I picked the first picture, not because I think it is a good representation of the area but for the very unimpressed look that appears to be on the PC's face.

I actually like the first pic, it looks like a more alive place than in the OC.

Let me know if you want something tested, I'm looking forward to this one.

We're talking about the floor right?

The floor is a mosaic made up it lecturns. It is an experiment at this stage, I think I will cover the whole floor in the end. The lecturn is scaled right down and laid out (that one is a 44 x 44 grid) then pick a series of tints and save them and use them to draw you mosaic onto the floor. That one is geometric which is easy but still and hour or two's work. I really want the centre of the mosaic to have an image of sune but that is many hours of work for less than ten minutes of gameplay.

Arkalezth - It is certainly more alive though another npc or two is required to fill it up. I was hoping you be able to test. Once I am done I will be in touch :)

Alupinu - Sort of, there is only so much you can do with 6 square inches of cloth it seems.

This is the room from the other direction. I have played with using vfx on the ceiling where soot from the torches and candles would gather. I game you get floating black circles as you would expect when you look down onto the room, jury is still out on that one but it looks great in the screenies.

Looking good PJ! Is Ophala going to be present or is she somewhere else?

Obsidian dropped the ball (no suprise) with their handling of Ophala in the OC. She might be known as the proprietor of the Moonstone Mask but she's quite a bit more as well.

Use the black dirt vfx for roof soot. The number of people who are going to look at the roof in a module is probably right around zero though, so time would be better spent elsewhere.

May I suggest no roof? Those are annoying.

Are you going to put in poles for the dancing?

I'll have you know this is an upmarket estalishment, besides, in the absence of stainless steel I think the risk of splinters or rust stains might make free dancing more popular Image IPB

OfficerDon I left Ophala out for exactly that reason. I would not know how to handle her and would probably end up with side quests etc. I think the Moonstone Mask would be a great base for city based skullduggery and political shinanigens with Ophala at the centre.

I think the sooty roof is a one off for this area but it adds to general ambience I think.

If there's no pole, then can we at least get some mud wrestling?

If you can't wrap your mind around Ophala, just use the old Leldon hangout.  I understand it's vacant (again).

Interesting concept PJ. I've enjoyed all of your previous work and have great hopes for this one as well.

On a different note the latest area is Upper Badgers Bottom. A small Hamlet between Neverwinter and my fictional Thunder Bay. It may seem a nice place to live but it has an orc problem ...

This is a side quest. The player may help the village or move on but then, why would you not want to help the nice villagers? It's what we do ... right?

The concept is that the foe outnumber and out gun you but there are pinch points galore and with traps and missile fire, terrain advantage and a bit of scouting the pc can prevail. Basically a tough combat suited to the ranger class the mod is designed for.

Later this will be referrred to in local lore as the battle of Badgers Bottom, the PC will be known as the hero of Badgers Bottom and will probably be given the key to the cowshed and everything.

So many orcs to kill, too little time...

You mentioned combat suited for stealthy ranger types. Can I run in there with a hearty dwarven bellow, a tower shield and swinging a battle axe?

Harumph!

PJ can tell better of course, but in response to Dorateen:

More than a module for ranger types, it's the story or a certain character who happens to be a ranger, a pregenerated PC if you will, but it'll be playable with a different, player-created PC too (so yes, a dwarven fighter would work, even though the story was designed based on another character).

That's my understanding at least. If you've played PJ's previous modules, you'll know who the main character is.

Pj, about the Moonstone Mask, you may want to take a look at this post by Tchos. I forgot to mention it the other day, he/she (?) makes a good point about it: http://tchosgames.bl...s-2-part-2.html

Thanks Ark, you're right, I hope that any character can get through this but it is written with a ranger in mind and a specific npc at that.

I agree with Tchos on this. I greatly dislike what he/she refers to a tardis buildings. For me the inside should approximately reflect the outside in floor plan and be of sensible proportions. Not always easy or possible but worth trying for I think.

Oh god, Badgers Bottom :D that put a smile on my face!

At least you didn't name it Crinkly Bottom ;) (if you get that referance you're good)

Looking good PJ!

Oh, I didn't realize this was the module about Solace. I still have to get caught up with These Dark Days of Waiting.

I guess I was just excited about the prospects of killing lots of orcs!
