Multiplayer will NOT give you more RPG options, infact it will do the exact bloody opposite.
Let me explain this to you, and to everyone else who posted; Multiplayer is not about "RPG" it's about shooting the sh%t with your friends and acting like giant scums online.
If you wanted more "Rpg" elements so god damn badly, you guys should've kept your mouths shut about your MP suggestion. But hopefully you guys will learn from this debacle.
I didn't want multiplayer either but guess what dude it is here and all your whining and ****ing isn't going to make it go away. Besides this isn't going to be like CoD or Halo this is just going to be a co-op mode and it might actualy end up being pretty fun. I know I am going to give it a try at least.
Another thing you need to either grow up or shut the hell up your whining does not help your cause because nobody will take you seriously.
He problay hasnt read the details, to me Co-Op isnt really what i call a Multiplayer experience but thats just me lol.

I used to be a competive FPS player when I was younger; counter strike 1.6/source, CO4, etc and CO-OP is usually refreshing to say the least and what I mean by that is being more of a relaxed state and just having fun. I'm glad they didn't go the competitive multiplayer route and stuck to what makes sense with the overall experience and story. As I stated in another thread, I'm basically going into the multiplayer with the mindset that this isn't just Shepard's fight, it's the whole galaxies. Millions of soldiers are going to try to prove themselves throughout the story and now we're getting a chance to be put through their perspective as well. Maybe there's a young Krogan out there trying to prove himself worthy of joining Urdnot and now I can "role-play" a Krogan who fits that role, while also focusing on the bigger picture; the Reapers are a threat to everyone. I understand that it's a horde mode, but I can still be creative while I play and not just focus on killing wave after wave.

Except lack of game functionality to actually communicate with the people you're co-oping with. Or the ability to pick who you co-op with. Two features I have yet to see mentioned are in GaW. And two features that were absolutely missing from the recently released Dark Souls.

For instance, many modern FPS-games will most of the time just hand you a voiceless (often faceless) character with a gun (Half-life, portal, Medal of honor, etc.). While some people are content just shooting things (as you've pointed out) some may find the option to use their fantasy to enhance the experience quite enjoyable.
It's like when you were a kid, where you armed yourself with a stick and pronunced yourself a knight before you embark on a killing spree in the kingdom of sorrows, slaying ghouls and gobins and the likes.
I'd guess quite a few Bioware fans can relate to this feeling, that's why we love RPGs so much.
I've never roleplayed in a MP before (mostly because I was too busy getting sniped and teabagged), but if people will enhance this new co-op experience, why the hell not! SOunds like fun actually^_^.
Oh yeah! THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE! LETS USE MULTIPLAYER TO ROLE PLAY. BRILLIANT!!!!
I don't get you guys. It would be like me trying to roleplay in Call of Duty, or more aptly, Gears of War.
I would pay to see someone "roleplay" in a co-op shootout. That would be the shortest playthrough of their lives. No one wants to deal with some Salarian pretending to be a wizard, or whatever you freaks like to roleplay as.
So g'luck with this idea. Don't say I didn't warn you.

No you take your condesending advice and shove it up your anus. I'm going to whine until I FEEL better. That's it. I'm not trying to start a movement here, it's pretty obvious, most people here are Bioware droids. They don't exercise a single though when it comes to Bioware. so convincing them is a losing battle.

So why can't we postpone the whinefest til AFTER the game release and THEN burn Bioware for it?
You said yourself it's a waste of time whining now so why not just play a wait-and-see approach rather than acting like a dick?
Hell yeah.. if you're right about all of this, I'll hand you the fuel for the funeral pyre myself.

Both consoles and PCs have a voice chat ability. And on Xbox Live there's the Friends List. And if people cared enough --which I expect goes hand in hand with the adjective "hard core"-- they could seek out other people on sites like these who wanted to party up for some RP action.
I haven't done multiplayer on a PC before, so I don't know if there's a PC equivalent of a Friends List.
In short, you could try to get together with some RP-inclined players, or you could play yourself at a lower difficulty. To be frank, if you ever want a truly cooperative experience at any sort of regular rate, you have to seek out specific people.

How are things going to transfer into ME3 from MP if Shepard is human and you played a salarian? If it transfers too much I probably won;t do it. I am not a big MP player but who knows if it is entertaining enough I might try.

I'm frustrated. I've seen a great deal of information on the game, and I don't like what I see.
I was looking forward to this game for a year+ now. And just when it's within reach, some news is dropped that makes the game seem like utter ****. I'm not as optimistic as others and I'm not about to lie to myself to make others feel better.

That would be my point. The question is will the game allow you to do so or not. Like I said, in Dark Souls, you don't get that option. You can't pick who you co-op with. If ME3 follows a similar path, then even poor roleplaying won't be happening.

So g'luck with this idea. Don't say I didn't warn you.
People roleplay by giving their characters different motivations and back stories for fighting against the hordes and teaming up with each other, if they have the consistent group of allies throughout the co-op fights they could roleplay them becoming a band of brothers of sorts and if we have chat people will also be able to roleplay by talking for their characters during battle.
Gather round boys and girls, because roleplaying isn't about sorting through your inventory screen to see which gun has the best damage to overheat ratio or choosing between three options for what Shepard says, Roleplaying in its finest is using your imagination and your connection to the world to give you a new experience or even just to project onto your character. I roleplayed while playing Halo:Reach, giving my Nobel 6 a personality beyond what was in the game and in X-blades I didn't like the story all that much so I roleplayed it to be different in some aspects and to give Ayumi a better personality (I also roleplay a douchebag in Pokemon who no one ever listens to)
but then again, you probably are the type of person to tell little kids they're dumbasses for pretending that the hotwheels tracks they are banging together are lightsabers.
