I know ME2 really worked Harby up as "the big cheese" of the Reapers, a leader of sorts. Unfortunately, he is also the most pitiful enemy in the entire series. Would you sacrifice consistency to either a) Have a new Reaper be referred as the "leader" or B) Retcon/change Harby's personality or c) Remove him entirely.

I will punch a child if I hear any more of this in ME3. Copypasta time...

“This hurts you.”
“This is true power.”
“We fight as one.”
“You cannot resist.”
“This is what you face.”
“The forces of the universe bend to me.”
“Our power is unmatched.”
“Nothing stands against us.”
“Face your annihilation.”
“You are bacteria.”
“You are shortsighted.”
“Irrelevant.”
“Pitiful.”
“These attacks are pointless.”
“This body does not matter.”
“The flesh is a machine.”
“You are vermin.”
"We will end you.”
"They are bacteria.”
“We are unstoppable.”
“Evolution cannot be stopped.”
“They will be as we are.”
“They are vermin.”
“We are the beginning, you are the end.”
“We are superior.”
"Swarm their position.”
"Overwhelm them.”
“Fight as one.”
“Surround them.”
“Relinquish your form to us.”
“You prolong the inevitable.”
“Your death is assured.”
“Embrace perfection.”
“Hope is irrelevant.”
“I sense your weakness.”
“I will show you true power.”
“Your attacks are primitive.”
“You cannot sustain your attack.”
“This delay is pointless.”
“There is no fear.”
“Your attack is an insult.”
“You are no longer relevant.”

Wow. I hope you copypasta'd that ****.

Harby doesn't need "replaced" so much as moved out of the picture entirely. He was orchestrating the Collectors; it was his task. Much like Sovereign had his task. I'd be horribly disappointed if Harby actually turned out to be a Reaper "leader" of sorts, rather than just the one designated to the lousy job of managing Collectors.

The Reapers should be an ominous, omnipotent force, not a character with a voice.

Harby lacks authority in his voice. Every time he speaks to my Shep trying to sound badass and menacing my Shep's like "**** please, a child wouldn't be scared of you".

I'd like Harbinger to remain; I don't dislike the character to nearly the same extent as much of this community. I still prefer Sovereign, but... yeah.

Instead what I'd like to see are multiple Reaper personas, several of which given that menacing aura that Sovereign commanded.

In Arrival, Harbinger sounded a little more threatening, though no conversation could ever be more awesome than Sovereign on Virmire, I think it was a nice step up from Harby's trash talk in ME2.

I'm guessing Harbinger will be a lot more threatening in ME3 now that it's physically in the galaxy somewhere. No idea what BioWare has planned for Harbinger, maybe it remains illusive for the entire game, maybe it speaks to Shepard a few times. Maybe it even hounds Shepard for the entire game. Either way, it won't be such a pushover this time I reckon. Give Harby a little break, he'll have his moment in ME3, just like Sovereign had his on Virmire...

Say that again when you're playing ME3 in the middle of the night with the lights off and he suddenly pulls up next to the Normandy. I think the REAL Harbinger is pretty scary...

I agree, mostly.

How many playthrus did it take before he became irritating?

I liked the fact that he did a little psychological warfare. The fact that it gets to you also means it's working.

Harbinger needs to die in the first minute. I do not want to hear his stupid lines ever again. I even liked planet scanning more.

Yes, I said it.

Maybe people would actualy like him if Bioware wouldn't present him as annoying twa_t and blabermouth.
I hope main antagonists in ME3 will be presented like Sovereign was.

I am just the bee's knees of defending things people can't stand today because I didn't mind planet scanning either.

It would be pretty cool if in ME3 Harbinger does what the Collector ship did in cutscenes where we'd see the Normandy in space and then that gigantic ship would appear next to it. I mean, considering Harbinger and Sovereign are like 2KM long, dayum.

I wouldn't mind some very subtle changes to his voice. A change we only notice subconsciously that would make him sound more threatening without everyone noticing and yelling "RETCON!"

One thing I noticed in Sovereign's voice is that when he speaks, you can hear a sound of something I can only describe as short, agonized breaths coming through a faulty radio... okay, odd description. But basically, you could hear things behind his voice. It made him sound even more threatening.

I guess this is very true. The remarks themselves didn't do much but the fact you could kill Harbinger only to have him come back a few seconds later is pure phychological warfare, and his neverending taunts only made it worse. If it were real, many soldiers would expose themselves to take a few shots at Harbinger just to shut him up I reckon, getting themselves killed in the process.

I don't think there was anything wrong with Harbinger's voice, just the remarks got a little cheesy after a while. His voice seemed slightly different in the Arrival DLC when he talked to Shepard directly though I prefer his original ME2 voice.
He also talked through indoctrinated Kenson which sounded pretty awesome. I'm afraid we might eventually find Andersson indoctrinated and Harbinger acting through him in ME3, wonder what that moment would be like:unsure:

Harbinger doesn't sound like a machine like Sovereign did. More like a guy who's spending too much time with the audio editor.

I vote for offing Harbinger early and replacing him with someone who knows when to shut the hell up.

I am hoping that he will be ditched, because he sounded like an Adam West era Batman villain.

Imagine if he had half or a third of the insults.  THAT probably would have gotten to me sooner.  It's endlessly repetative, but it's better than having Jacob shouting about barriers every 60 seconds.

Half way through before he starts to become somewhat goofy.

I liked the fact that he did a little psychological warfare. The fact that it gets to you also means it's working.

No. There are different types of "gets to you", I am sure they intented it to be "Oh ****! ****ING RUN!" but it turned out to just be "Pis nu bare af din skide idiot".

Psst.. "gets to you" is the same regardless of if scares you or just pisses you off.  I can play Numa Numa in your ear all day long.. you won't be scared of it, but im sure you'll change your behavior.

But hey, I was half tongue in cheek about the whole thing anyway.

I think the thing that made Sovereign so much better as an enemy was that he regarded Shepard as I would regard a grain of sand. Then again, Shepard hadn't done any real damage in ME1. Perhaps if Harbinger was the one destroyed at the Citadel, Sovereign would be the same way?

EDIT: Didn't Harby has 6 lights in a smiley-face configuration (looool)? Is this the same Reaper?

I would rather not see many Reaper Avatars around in general. In ME3, I think they should be more like a force of nature than a classic personified Big Bad.

Sovereign was awesome, plus had a great voice. We need someone like him coz Harbinger is just the mentally challenged kid of the pack.

If only he didn't repeat the same taunts over and over and didn't say them every 3 seconds rather only once per fight, then he wouldn't have been as annoying in a fight.

He has a lot of other comments (Thank you zakatak for listing most of them) but sadly he mostly just uses 4 of them: This hurts you. This is what you face. This is true power. The forces of the universe bend to me. A little more variety please, thank you.

That's Harbinger, though it won't be as funny when he pulls up next to you like the collector ship did in ME2:pinched:

Kill him of at the beginning, and then have a new, awesome Sovereign-like Reaper be the main bad dude.
