Well Dragon Age 2 is my first modern RPG game, its been a while i'll admit. However i've enjoyed the game up to the point where the game throws these rediculous over powered mage bosses at me, and uses an Aids/cancer/megadeath cloud to kill all my party members withing a fraction of a second, is there any way to go into the little AI thing to keep them from standing in the cloud of death?
I *think* if you set their behaviour in tactics to 'cautious' they will run away from damage. They kind have to be hit first, though, which complicates it if it's a 1HKO. Which enemy are you fighting?

I will try the cautious thing however, that seems like it might work. I will preface this by saying i don't play on nightmare and i really havent played around with tactics and combos much. and my skill trees are likly not optimized, still my first play threw. I've just ran across these type of monsters alot in act 3 and in DLC and was getting fairly annoyed. Figured i was clearly doing something wrong.
Plus i build party for personal taste, not so much on skill combination/profession. I may do another playthrough in the near future, once i'm finished with this one and try some different options.
And i left the games setting on "Normal".

it was one of the mage extra bosses in the new DLC. And some of the characters don't have the HP for me to R1 around to everyone and move them out manually.
If you're a console player, you can hold R1 and L1 together to select your whole party and then 'move to point' to move your whole team, no need to move them all separately. It might not help here, but for future reference.
Like others have said, silence is your friend. Tallis has a great skill that silences, and you must have her. Freezing/Brittle combos are also your friend.

'Conductor' was the name of the achievement/trophy you get for beating him, so when the Achievement list was out before the DLC, everyone was calling him 'the Conductor', hence Gaider's confusion.
