Edwin asked me to get some documents from a guy named Marcus. I've found him, but he refuses to give them to me whether I threaten him or try to bribe him. I find this strange since I've got my strongest fighter waving her axe at him, and I am also quite rich. Is there some kind of stat check I'm failing? I'd really prefer not to kill this guy since both Nalia and Aerie have already thrown a fit about working with the Shadow Thieves, but I don't know what else to do at this point.

Infinity Explorer shows Conditions for the relevant dialogs in the file Marcus.dlg, this will be one way to get him to hand over. If you pass none of the stat checks, try killing him, that should produce the documents.

Strange. I've never failed to retrieve the items from him.

(oh but don't worry, if you take the in-dialogue killing option, nobody will mind)

It's a charisma check - doesn't matter how big your sword is.

Hmmm the thieves want you to obtain documents..but the man refuses....

He must keep them somewhere....maybe his pockets...but what option should I pick to obtain what I want without being noticed.....what would a thief do.

Thanks for all the advice! I had my paladin threaten him, and he gave the documents right up. Oddly, there wasn't an in-dialogue killing option, or I would have taken it.

Killing is done outside of dialog, by choosing the Attack option.

The dialogue option is something like "There is something on your neck."
No attack happens, he just drops dead.
