At the very least, as soon as I became aware that my PC was becoming such an entity, hostile or not, I would physically disable any network access points so that it wouldn't spread. If you do not fear this kind of entity, then you're considering the possible repercussions. It is a direct threat to any species that is technologically compatable, and could potentially force a massive technological dark-age.

I believe this kind of preemptive action inevitably creates the problem it was supposed to prevent.

Only if the entity in question is not an anomaly and other similar entities learn of it. Granted, the Geth situation is dealing with a systematic issue rather than an anomalous one, but attempting to preempt a Skynet scenario presents roughly similar risk factors as assuming that the entity will be friendly, or at least non-hostile.

On the Preemptive side, if you are successful, then the entity is no longer a threat, regardless of weather or not it is now hostile due to the actions. However, if your preemptive action fails, as it did with the Quarians, then you end up with a Morning War situation. Theoretically, you still have a chance to 'win' that conflict because you at least have initiative.

On the more trusting side, if the entity is friendly, everything is well and good. If it is simply non-hostile, it could still develop hostility as various hackers and other humans attempt to manipulate it, or its goals simply develop along a path that is mutually exclusive to our own goals. If it is already hostile, then it will spread extremely rapidly, take the initiative and become practically unstoppable.

Trusting the AI to not be hostile presents much wider extremes regarding possible outcomes than preemptive action to at least contain the entity until it is better understood.

Why yes, I fully support African culture and I feel that whites coming to Africa to partake in the African slave trade native to that region. It was free trade and is freedom and open-mindedness not a tennet of enlightened western civilization?

Except the African culture wasn't for the hole-sale slavery of millions of Africans, and the European presence actually heightened tribal warfare for the conquest of slaves so they could trade with the Europeans for goods.

Oh, and when the Africans resisted slaving attempts by the Europeans, people like the Portuguese would just eradicate the tribes in the way of getting what they wanted, and keep on ploughing through them.

You make it seem like the Europeans were simply joining a game. Wrong. They only let the Africans slave other Africans for them because it was easier than coming in and actively hunting slaves themselves.

My God you're an ignorant ******.

Uh huh, nice attempt at white washing and passing the blame off solely on the Europeans. Typical.

Saphra, I see you've been reading the History of the African Salve Trade by Uncle Ruckus.

Though Saphra does have a point....The Africans were practising slavery long before Europeans joined the game...that does not make European policy right or any less depraved, but it was far from a new concept in Africa.

Then you are a fool.

The Geth are hostile and have proven how opposite of innocent they are. They refuse to integrate with galactic society and have killed innocent people for horrible reasons. Just like the Aborigines of Australia, they so deserved to have their land taken away from them.

You and anyone like you are fools I wish not to discuss this anymore.

I don't go on the Bioware forums to make friends.

The Geth are better than Quarians. Legion and the geth are on our side, especially after hacking/exploding the heretic base. They have one of the most strong forces in the galaxy.
So they will be fighting the reapers in ME3. I have plans for them to make a peace between them and Quarians!

The Quarians are the better since they created them in the first place, the Geth simply.. evolved.

Created but couldn't control so they failed and almost all died for it.

I like the geth or maybe I just like Legion. Still want to find out more about them.
