Which game would a friend and I have more fun playing coop? Should we play through the OC's or go straight to modules? If the OC's are bad or not as good for the coop experience can you please reccommend some modules that would be good for two people coop that will take us to max level. Thanks guys.

I enjoyed all the OC's, though the original took me several months of stop & start to get thru it all. And HotU is not for multi-player.
For mods, I recommend the Aielund series; terrific storylines, humor, great companions, etc.

Do you, or anyone else, know how I can add PRC to these modules? The updater that came with it does not work. It says there are files that cannot be merged. Aborting. Should I use the 3.5 beta 2 of PRC if I want to player multiplayer?
Thanks again guys.

I highly suggest not to instal PRC if you want to play with more players. They all have to install same PRC version as well and even then its possible there will be many issues. PRC is fine and possible to install into any module but rather for singleplayer.

Whether the OC has a good story is debatable, some say yes, some say no. But as far as I know it won't allow you to reach the max level. The Aielund Saga is one of the very few module series that are also epic with regard to reaching max level, I think, and it has a good story, IMO.
If story isn't your main interest though and you're more interested in exploration, vast open worlds allowing free roaming and player to player interactions, as well as dungeon crawls, challenging combat and loot, you could also go online and play on one of the many persistant worlds. Those are like MMORPGs without the "Massive", and most of tehm allow characters to level up till level 40 or even (way) beyond.

Considering the low cost for what you get now, think about getting both.

I and most others never accepted Neverwinter Nights 2. It just feels like a more clunky game while NWN1 is more streamlined and feels like a more solid "platform" for multiplayer.Lich Larloch wrote...

I'd like to recomend you to go directly on the persistent world servers (PW's). Action, roleplay, pw action, pw story...choose what you want....its all good....
While you can still play co-op with your buddy on theese servers you also have a good chance to find some new buddies...
If you need help with finding a good PW just holler...

LL you may not have realized it but your question is potentially a hot topic as you ask people to compare the two games and there has been hisorical friction brought on by a variety of somewhat IMO assinine reasons. You even start to see it creep into the small number of responses you've received so far....Lich Larloch wrote...
Thanks for all your answers guys. More opinions are still welcome.
As any other game, both NWN and NWN2 have their good and bad points. As someone who has spent considerable time with both, I strongly suggest you get both games... both combined will only cost you around $30 after all, which is a price you cannot beat for the hours and hours of enjoyment you will get out of the many MP environments you will have access to.
I would also suggest checking out Neverwinter Connections.
All the best.

What? No, I never played NWN 2. So what?

Firstly NWN probably has the edge due to ease of download, installations and that there are a huge number of independent mods.
I would always start on the OC (inc NWN2) as it will give you a better idea of the game.
As for characters. Starting off with a fighter and a cleric is good. For the latter I use magic and trickery as domains.
Might be worth downloading one of the character build mods. This will give you an idea of what feats you can use and spells.
Whne you go to NWN site you can search for specific mods, what level to ebgin with, heavy on combat and so on.
When you are looking at mods to download, check out authors comments about whta skills are required and other hints to the game.
The Aielund Saga is probably the best mod but if you check out the top 100, that will also give you an idea of the very good mods.
Finally for me and for the community out there. Hope somebody can help. In NWN2 I am unable to use arrows and page up/down. What do I need to do in game options to allow this.
Cheers
Eric

If its a choice between the two, i'd say NWN1 has the advantage, and i mainly do NWN2 things. It's easier to use, and the official campaigns did not completely ignore it. Has less system resources required as well ( lot less work being done graphics wise in the older game as well, but NWN2 really is not the best optimized game ). Also has a lot longer period of support and more content by a large margin, enough so that you really could just ignore any other game and just play new modules in NWN1.
But i'd say if you ignore NWN2 you're missing out on a very good game as well, with it's own modules and features which are completely different, and its also much better than at release, especially if you take advantage of the extender that skywing did for the game. The OC should not be done in coop play, the MOTB is iffy and SOZ is much more ideally designed for it as it's a sandbox game. Custom modules which are listed as MP compatible are probably a better experience as i don't think the developers even tried play testing MP at all. Some of the community content is just amazing, with the Zork recreation, bouncy rocks module set in ravenloft, well there is a lot of things out there worth trying which will make your jaw drop.
To me its less about the tools used, than about the vision of the modules author, his execution of the concept, and how well he used those tools to tell his story.
For specifics i'd review the following two lists, if something excites your fancy, well you can get NWN1 on Direct2Drive and NWN2 on steam and have both for less than the original cost of the first expansion of either game. Those lists tend to have info which shows which modules are better due to vault rankings or awards.
