This is now a hair-based thread, so now Im going to complain. If Bioware's all about choice, then why can't my Manshep have glorious, flowing manlocks that glisten in the sun while he stabs some fool with his Omni-Blade? And why can't he wear lipstick??!!!

As a former military man, that one is easy.... Partly why I'm so pissed at femsheps new long hairdos
Maybe it represents Shepard's going rouge to fight the Reapers and breaking the chains of usually military styles! Or, it could be Bioware being unrealistic....still doesn't explain my Shep having an awesome short shag in ME1, but for some reason, it magically becomes emo hair when Cerberus gets a hold of him....*sigh*
I think you mean "going rogue."
Sorry.
I always mess that one up....;(

In a video game with so much in it that already doesn't make sense (the whole concept of biotics, for instance), I should be able to have whatever hair I want, regardless of its practicality.tobynator89 wrote...

Well, technically, Shep is no longer in the military. They can have whatever hair style they want.
not a matter of regulation, but practicality. That long hair will get caught in something during combat and most likely kill her. Same reason why every grunt worth their salt tapes every loose strap on their equipment and ensures that there are no dangly parts.
you see military doesn't keep it that way to make it look neat and tidy, thats just a bonus.
As for thermal clips, they added them because the ammo system was better than the overheat one.

Yeah, but what does it matter to you if someone wants their Shepard less than practical? Seems like an odd thing to get angry about. Damn Bioware and their options.
hey we all have our quirks about stuff like this, equipment manouverability is just something I've had drilled into my head one time too many for it to not ring a bell. I mean, I don't have a problem with the ghastly white and pink armour, maybe because I've gotten so used to our winter camo (norwegian army, cold place).
I DO however want to stab miranda and samara for wearing high heels.

It also adds some risk and reward to combat, in that you aren't always able to just camp in one spot and shoot forever. If you run out of ammo on a certain weapon, and want more ammo, you're going to have to get out of cover and go grab a clip.
Also, it adds some punishment for wasting shots. You can't just bullet spray, or you'll find yourself running out of ammo. It also rewards those who kill efficiently, regularly getting headshots and such. Skill becomes more important.
The devs also mentioned how the reload system changes the feel and pacing of weapon use, which is true. It's a matter of personal taste, but they believe it has broader appeal. It also allows them to create and balance a certain variety of weapons they may not have been able to under the heat system.

Because gun mechanics in ME1 sucked, frankly. The ME2 system is just as believable. In ME1, you could pour all your resources into the Spectre Armory weapons and just hold down the trigger all damn day.
That's exactly what I did. Lol. Every party member is decked out with spectre weapons

Don't call your Shepard "practical" for having short hair if she/he is on the battlefield with nothing over her/his head. A helmet protects against glassing bullets and physical blows/falls, and provides HUD information.

If we are talking about practicality here, we shouldn't even be able to see Shepard's hair outside the Normandy. Why somebody wouldn't have that hair tucked under a COMBAT HELMET in a battle scenario is beyond me.

quite right, never let my shep go without one. DLC modular helmets brought me much joy.

Well... so long as it's just that..... but I've seen some rather (pardon the term) bowel-loosening work done to Shep with Texmod in the past. <shudder>

No, actually. This is my Ash/Mirimancer, Dick, The Straightest Shepard Ever. He's just incredibly vain with really thin lips, so he might covertly touch them up... you know. Just a little. No one will notice.EternalAmbiguity wrote...
