Whilst it has more precedent than some allow I still don't want multiplayer anywhere near Dragon Age at this point in time.

There is just too much potential where the single player is concerned, and if DA2 is anything to go by unless the team get an insane boost to time and resources, no matter how talented they are, there is no way they would be able to pull off both a satisfying single player and design a new multiplayer componant from scratch.

With ME I get it, but not DA.

Ah. It never worked in the first one for me, must be why I didn't remember it.

Ok, I was thinking about co-op in main campaign, so I want you share what come to my mind
Okay, I was still thinkng about one thing, which would be possible very problematic (in case of co-op in DA series) and that is relationship and romance. I realize when both (or four players) would be possible romance between each other, it would be great mess. So I resolve this matter with this idea-and I just realized that Neverwinter Nights can be great tool how to resolve this-every player could hire one (or maybe two) NPC companion and only with this he/she can do romance. Also when there is something related to influence your relationship with that person, it should run (script, situation, dialogue) only for that one player (so he/she only should find gift from his/her companion, he/she alone choose his answers in romance dialogue and etc.).
So my prespective how should be co-op working
1.Quest system ,dialogue system from LOTR-War in North-host should lead important story dialogues
2.Two ideas from Cursed Crusade-both players must agree with skip of cinematic sequence and possible to be in two or more different place in story (and still with help of splitscreen on console play together-and simultaneously)-when it is requied in story
3.Relationship system-see first paragraph
4.Some big ´safehouse´ for all players or every player give his own safehouses-and mail with quests should always get host player (but other types of letters should get all players) and then it will automatically shared with others players (after host accept that quest from letter)
5.When there is important dialogue or something what is forwarding story, every player should get noticed and agree with this progress
6.Every player should be able enter to his safehouse (or to shared) when he want, but exit other areas only together
As is clear, this all tweaks would related to only co-op. Singleplayer would be quite same, because I think it can be sort of dual layer as it would be in future Dead Space 3 - features would active only with another joined player (as there was only one player in basic-) and it would only extended experience (like new optinions in dialogues or different animations or sequences in story)-you would still be able to hire three othr companions if you play solo-difficult would be always same (set for 4 men group)
And it is clear you would need -1. some strong singleplayer on which you can based co-op support,2.count with two (or four) characters in story (but most of the time they would share almost that same story) and design
And quest reward should be same for all players
Save system-like it was in Neverwinter Nights or in both DA (save anywhere) and/or autosave when you leave location
Fight-most of sooner RPGs which have co-op have pause function, so I would use it (host/or every player can pause?),on console there would be just realtime fight without pause (at it was in first Dragon Age-Origins).

I already know exactly what the Multiplayer will be: four random players with generic character builds thrown into an endless meatgrinder of enemies in a "how long can you survive?" battle mode.

It will suck. It will waste time and money that could have gone into making the singleplayer experience better, and fans of Dragon Age will resent BioWare for being so stupid.

There is also the possibility that in order to 'improve' this mode they will keep the ENTIRE game's combat mechanics more like DA2, which will ****** off fans of the series even more and finally shift the general image of BioWare from "a game company that produces awesome stories" to "a bunch of idiots who want to make arcade hack'n'slash games that went out of style twenty years ago."

I'm so sure of this I'm willing to put money on it.

I thought DA2 allready did that?

DA2 just put the series on life support.  Multiplayer will definitly be the flat line to the series.

No. DA should be a single-player game. Multiplayer belongs in MMOs and Call of Duty, not in a RPG.

I played it with two other friends through LAN and it was fantastic. I also played NWN 2 like that and it was great too.

Something like that - that is integrated with Singlep Player campaign is OK in my book.

But straight out Multiplayer - like Mass Effect had or some kind of Death Match - PLEASE NO!, NO NO NO!

I doubt they'll make it multiplayer purely because there are already so many mmorpgs out there and they're already doing it with Star Wars.

Aside, from that, I fail to see why everyone gets their panties in a twist at something being multiplayer.

I agree with you, as long as the multiplayer does not touch the story it is fine.

What i would love to see though is a difficult "dungeons" mode that is non-canonical from the story, they just allow us to make characters and take on dangerous dungeons with multiplayer parties.

They could add "dungeon packs" that add in new challenges as well as monsters/bosses we have never seen before.

I love the combat engine and i never understood why the level cap for dragon age was so high when most players would never get near hitting the cap, im sure i'm not the only one that would like to "turn" off the stories for awhile and just enjoy the combat and challenges.

Yes, this is also my greatest afraid. I don´t like this horde mode multiplayer. I am always rather for-if they want put multiplayer in DA series-it should have been some story co-op, preferably just co-op optinion in main story.I would say - first make great story with two (four) protagonist, from which you can choose/created, then make design which will be support both singleplayer and co-op for two (four) players (and which will be automaticaly switch between singleplayer and co-op style of gameplay). And in my optinion they can take complete design of Dragon Age-Origins, which s in my opinion almost the perfect and finally to make it possible for play in two people. Or just look at my favourite LOTR-War in North and ´copy´ that system of co-op (and add some features which are related to DA series)-and maybe also improved that co-op system

And I think there will flow many water in river before we saw DA 3, so I think Bioware have quite great amount of time-maybe how many Bioware want. And maybe he already is working on DA3,but is little cautition to release informations. And moneys? I don´t think designers or programmers are pay for each features which is in game, but rather they are payed for completed game or rather they have salary, which isn´t releated to features, which is in the game, or yes? If designers won´t, there wouldn´t be feature, even if there is any amount of budget. And same as same businessman from EA decided that game won´t feature that. So I think length of game is rather decision of developer team then budget and also how good is writer(s), who write story for game and how fast he/she want be that story, how long it should be and how it should be divided.
And some thoughts how it co-op can work in game and still it would be quite strong singleplayer RPG I wrote above. Maybe it is not perfect, but I atleast try to imagine that possibility and try to resolve it. If you think something miss me what I haven´t covered, I don´t mind if you mentioned it.

Don´t you forget mention also racing games, sports games, strategies, fighters games?
Multiplayer is not only big group of people killing in annual most popular 3D action or doing raid in WOW, but also for example two players doing co-op in Baldur´s Gate/Neverwinter Nights (over LAN/internet), two people doing co-op in Killzone 3 campaign (not online) in two people, doing co-op in LOTR-War in North (not online) in two people, racing against each other (in two people and not online) in splitscreen of Split/Second, doing match in Tekken. Hec, in many strategies you have mode called skrimish which can be consider for some sort of offline multiplayer and same for offline mode in Killzone with bots.
And there was ´multiplayer´ RPG,in base singleplayer game, which have game time sometimes over 20 hours not only for who seek game in more people but mainly for singleplayer gamer. And almost all ARPG have multiplayer atleast for two players.

Co-op multiplayer would probably be really badass. I'd say go for it. The game has already got well designed boss battles that ME3 never had besides a tanky enemy that still couldn't conquer LOS. In DA you could fight Arishoks and High Dragons and Blood Mages and everything. That would be fun

Only bad implement multiplayer can ruin the game or when is that game already bad, then it won´t help even if it have any multiplayer (then it is only tack into coffin). You know, good developer team will guarantee that both part of game will be great and when should co-op integrated in game, that it will integrated well. And you have always options - to play it or not to play it. And that is I think very important.

Developer team can ruin the game, not multiplayer.

I think nobody want from Dragon Age some real pure only multiplayer game but I think most of people who welcome multiplayer would welcome that mode only if it was some kind of co-op support into main story, nothing less, nothing more
And this is also my attidude
My biggest fear are two-very bad gameplay in overall and also story and that Dragon Age should become generic MMORPG

We begged and begged for ME3 not to have Multiplayer and they didn't listen. I feel like this story's repeating itself.

multiplayer has nothing to do with Dragon Age. Biowares just trying to add as many popular things to the game as possible (even if they don't make sense).

Having read the forums for a while now, I can say that the more Bioware experiments, the less people will stick with the franchise.

Just release DA:O again in a box with "Dragon Age III" on the front.

i prefer they concentrate on the off line story, lore, characters, options....
now if we get all that plus an on line mode that doesn't intrude the personnal play, than i'm ok for it
i don't know about me3 (still didn't get it) but re5 on line didn't invade the off line mode
stand alone missions on co op on line would be nice, but again i rather they focus on the personnal game first
