I think the final version of the statue looks considerably better than the prototype at the very least. It's not quite the same as the artist's rendering, but it doesn't seem bad to me. However, I'm not picky and am not particularly obsessed with Liara. I think I'm fairly detached from the subject on the whole.

I find myself detatched as well, because I am not a Liarra fan - fan short for Fanatic. I never was a Liarra fan, but I do like her character.

I will say that the model has come a LONG way, and that I am impressed with the skill.

The face is wrong....

Is it my thing? No.

Is it better? In every conceivable way.

You may not like it, but it's both well done and more Liara-like than the first two drafts. It might not be her exactly, but that was never the point.

I have a list of complaints but since its late and I'm pretty tired I'm just going to say this.

At least her boobs are bigger than her head this time.

I would ask why her "turkies" are still done, but then I think Asia.

Answer solved.

Eh.. Not my style anymore. The artists rendition is nice though.

That doesn't look to bad at all. I wouldn't buy it, but that's because I generally don't buy figures. I suppose my only complaint would be that the face doesn't really match Liara's. That's one of the main identifying features for her (all you asari look the same to me!), and it just doesn't match in my mind.

The M-5 is sexier than Liara in this particular piece

It's very nice and everything, they are quite talented but...... it looks nothing like Liara we only know it's her because they told us and she is wearing her armour and the eyebrows.

I would have considered getting one of the prototype depending on how it would have turned out. Though, there is something about her face that rubs me the wrong way :P nor do I think that her chest looks better.

here are more pics from Toy Fair 2012:
http://www.tomopop.c....phtml#comments

Kotobukiya's Bishoujo Liara T'soni figure has been a familiar site to Tomopop readers, and she appeared at Toy Fair. But once again, it turns out Kotobukiya has a few surprises up their sleeve with their rendition of the lovely Asari holding an M5 Phanalax heavy pistol.

Robert Lyle Paske from Kotobukiya's International Sales and Marketing Department talked to Tomopop's Keith Polott, revealing a few new things about Liara. First, her base will have two different inserts (a Mass Effect logo and an N7 logo) that will be translucent instead of the white placeholder. But more importantly, Liara's the first Bishoujo figure in the series to have a ball-jointed head, which means you can pose her head a bit, as Keith shows off in the gallery.

Finally, Kotobukiya just got approval of this ... but remember how those new Mass Effect 3 figures are going to have DLC? Yeaaaaaaaah ... Liara is, too. It'll be exclusive DLC you'll get with buying the figure and it'll be for Xbox 360 and PC only. No word on what it'll be exactly, but I expect not everyone will be happy with the move.
