 How did Ashley Williams become unfrozen/not get captured by the Collectors? I rememver very disctinctly her getting frozen by the Seeker swarms. At the end of the mission, she's totally fine and just walks out unharmed.

1. The seekers left. No more stasis field.
2. One-third to one-half of the people weren't taken. It's why you see all those crates and frozen people standing out in the open.
3. Yes, they could have shown us what happened, but that would have meant leaving Shep's POV, which they typically avoid doing, and they'd already done it once at the start.

Diplomatic way of saying "Plot Hole?" Nice, considering that's taboo around here now. And while didy lays it out very well, I did have a problem with that scene. Not the fact that the Virmire Survivor is "Conveniently" one of the few people to not be abducted, but how it all goes to hell afterwards.

Shep seems to lose all braincells during those so called dialogue "Choices" and the whole thing dies immediately afterwards. Unless you romanced them, in which case you get one bland "Dude, my bad." email. It just reeked of "We gotta push the story this way, and fast." Like us being shoehorned into Cerberus, with no way out.

In other words, Bioware being either lazy, or somehow overwhelmed by what they've promised to deliver.

Horizon mission is all about the collectors being interrupted dring an attack by a force immune to the seeker swarms.

1 - entire colony, including Ashley, gets paralyzed
2 - collectors start loading the captives onto the vessel
3 - Shepard arrives while the Collectors are still loading the captives. You can still see stasis caskets all over the place, and since you've killed the Collectors that were in charge of moving them, they obviously stay where they are
4 - Shepard reactivates the defense towers, forcing the Collector cruiser to leave, leaving the dead Collectors and unclaimed colonists in place
4 - Eventually, paralysis ends and Ashley is freed

It's somehow discussable how the collectors failed to capture their main target (well it is beleived they specifically attacked that specific colony for the VS, colonist were still important, but VS was the reason.) After all, the VS was the first victim of the seeker swarm(that came this way) Lilith didn't seem to have gone pretty far before getting paralized and considering that corner was taken into the ship (assuming no one were left behind during the sweep).

I got some theories about that, all as crasy as others.

-Craziest one first: anti-swarm paralize medecine devellopped by citadel scientists. These abduction aren't the new things. Someone (aliance or council) clearly did a good investigation, found evidences before cerberus could and tried devellopping something to counter the swarms. This theorie comes in good faith that Shepard isn't the only guy that can do things right for once.

-They did something to the VS, we just don't know what they did and what it'll do. Maybe there was a plan to get Shepard by installing some kind of beacon and making him recruit the VS so they could swarm the Normandy. Maybe it's gonna be something important in me3, or...

-It's just the stupid "we forgot," though I'd like to think the VS was close to getting onboard and Shepard was arriving in the nick of time. Only problem is... the closer you were to the ship, pods were nowhere to be found. So unless Sheppard and squad just didn't searched far enough/missed the pods, this is more unlikely.

Just throwing this in here, seeing as its related;

I'm one of those people that would have preferred the VS to have been abducted; it would have made the race to the Collector Ship more gratifying, because even if you never romance either Kaidain or Ashley, they were still part of your initial team, they still stood with you against Saren, the Geth, Ilos, Sovvy, getting facerolled by the Council, etc.

And had we been able to snatch them back from the Collectors, the reunion would have been an infinitely better experience, and it would have given Shep the chance to put the whole "Cerberus" debacle in perspective;

"Who just saved who now? Who's a traitor now? Who's actually saving people instead of twiddling their thumbs for the Council while blindly firing off accusations left and right about how the savior of the galaxy is working for a terrorist cell bent or galactic domination only to send an emotionless email as an apology later when you realized you're an idiot *Cough wheeze*?"

VS is a spy for the reapers. that is me being paranoid. the trick, they don't know that they are a spy.
