Greetings to all,

I have been trying to figure out a solution for the bug I seem to be enjoying thoroughly, spending a lot of time and burning quite a lot of brain cells in the process. I was wondering if anyone here in this august community could help me with spending my time with playing nwn 2 instead of raging across my humble abode.

As I rescue Shandra from the most adorable Zeeaire, and return to the Sunken Flagon inn , I am able to enjoy a nice cutscene with the innkeeper uncle , who reveals some bits of the character's past, with Shandra and Bishop popping in and out of the conversation. After that however, I get stuck and have noproper Act 2 beginning. I get a load sequence, where I land in the Blacklake district, in the halls of the most pompmous Lord Nasher. When I speak to Shandra (who is in the party now, where I have the same characters that I had in the Githyanki base), she informs me that I am on trial, speaking with Nevalle reveals that I am a squire, (with no feat backing that up) and thus have the privilege to run some insignificant errand for him. When I try to exit the district, I have no map access to any other Neverwinter city location. I took the freedom to trave to Old Owl Well, and after that I regained my access to the docks and the merchant quarter, but the gates of Blacklake are closed, (although after I landed in Blacklake and exited Nasher's halls, I was informed that the district is accessible now), I have no access to it, and the freezing in the cold lass karina, who smuggled me in earlier to the wise Aldannon is also missing . Now, as much as I enjoy snapping Zeeaire's neck (it is a treat every time), and thus reloading the Flagon cutscene, I get the same results repeatedly. No save game reloading saves my day, I have already started a new character, playing from the beginning of the game, arriving at the same spot, enjoying the same results.

I would be much obliged if you could help me out with this finely crafted problem :crying:

Tis indeed a finely crafted problem. I've been banging my head against it trying to come up with a consistent solution for some time.

i'm about to doze off but i've got some questions:

where's your last save, before heading to the Castle from the party at the Flagon?
you're a member of the Thugs, i take it?
Do you have a journal entry relating to Squiring yet, if so what's it say?

In the meantime, you can try some of this and it might sort itself out,
Act II No Merchant Quarter Access

Thank you for your reply. My last save is with Zeeaire taking her rightful place in the dust, with my party standing in front of Shandra, waiting to start the dialogue that takes me to the Flagon. I have saves in almost every other location prior to the base too. Indeed I am a member of the thugs, perhaps this is a punishment wrought upon me by the Gods of Good for my sins committed. As for journal entries, the last one I have after "arriving to Blacklake" is /Chasing Shandra/ , where it is stated that I have returned her safely to the Flagon, and Duncan filled me in on more details about the King of Shadows battle. The previous entry before that states that I have successfully defeated the Githyanki who attacked the flagon /Githyanki Surprise/. That is all I have on this, sadly. I will try to spend my time fruitfully reading through the post you kindly linked , though since it has been years since I was fortunate to play this game the last time, I do not truly remember what should transpire next precisely in the storyline, what characters should I have in the party, when, and where should I be. "begins research immediately"

The problem has been fixed. I decided to make the errand for Nevalle, leaving to visit Temar's estate to get my hands on Larim, the "local traitor", in the hope that if I am able to add another journal entry, and go back to Nevalle the game might realise that the row is a bit out of place, or let me carry on from that point on. I did so, and when returning to Nasher's halls, suddenly I received the long awaited Act II screen, and everything from that point on has transpired according to my desire. Cutscenes, sand in the party etc etc. Then I decided to reload the nice scene with Z. on the ground, and check wether simply leaving Nasher's palace and immediately returning would fix the brew, since I did not want any "marks from the future" in my journal/game. Again, Act II began normally, and everything was in perfect order. I thank you, master kevL for your assistance, time and thought, for without your questions the journal never would have popped into my mind, preventing me from trying out what I have. I hope that if anyone has the same problem that I had, will find this solution as much helpful, as it is banally simple. Or so it would seem after a dozen hours of brain damage...

WOW. You don't realize how revolutionary this is. Solving that bug without the console - this almost deserves a sticky.

excellent, Ag!

love those creative fixes :)

I_Raps, careful sir, we don't actually know what fixed what here (tries to pry the broomhandle out of his butt); myself i'm leaning more and more to the idea that the global_var for "00_nAct" doesn't get set properly - tho at this state it's still a guess and should gotta wait till next time ..... in the meantime yeh, let's break a keg and drown the Flagon in ale.
