I don't get your point, how can the scales ever balance.

An alien is not automatically more interesting than a human being. I don't encounter people like Miranda or Kaidan everyday on the street and so, I migth find their personalities much more interesting and engaging than those of the aliens.

Phew I stand corrected, my sarcasmdar is off today :P Too bad some people in this thread actually think fancy alien design automatically means better character

They're all different species. It's not precisely, or even remotely, the same thing.

Some of the humans squadmates are from different ethnicities and all of them have different values and morals.
You're acting as if "seen one human, seen them all."

Ethnicity is meaningless, even moreso in this future. They do have different values and suchlike, but they're all people from pretty much the same culture, and I like getting examples of different ones.

Then you should not want to have more than a representant of each race.

I agree but the alien squadmates we've had aren't always the best example of their respectives cultures (Ex, Garrus). As ME2 proved, the best way to understand another race's culture is to visit their worlds, in this case the Flotilla,. Since  we will visit all of the homeworlds of the major races, I don't feel that we need any more alien squadmates.
The exception being a Batarian, ofc.

I'm sure we'll all warm up to the characters sooner or later. I wasn't a big fan of Miranda, but then she did this awesome thing and told TIM to stick it where the sun don't shine, I was so proud...

I assume someone has brought up Mac Walters' recent tweet confirmation that there are unannounced squadmates by now, right?

Do you think there will be any companions who will be permanent? Or do you think it will be all chop and change? I would like to see at least a few who are with Shepard for the majority of the game, like Liara or Garrus.

Remember how Liara was added to the squad halfway into LOTSB? Pretty sure we can expect something similar throughout the majority of the game.

Yeah I know what you mean I just love the running around the Normandy after missions and talking to everyone, but im sure there will still be some of that in ME3.

Lemme see if I can find it in two minutes, leaving for driving lessons momentarily...

...dammit, nope. I'll try to dig it up later tonight if no one else has.

In retrospect though, maybe it wasn't Mac but like... Casey instead. I will find it though; now I'm on a mission.

I'm up for seeing it since I'm kind of nervous that we'll have a tiny, tiny party this time around.

Uhm.... it's actually 2 Krogan: one "semi-wise" (for Krogan) named Wrex ( ME 1 ) and one "I don't care about the rest. I want to FIGHT!!!" Krogan named Grunt ( ME 2 ).

I know I'm about to get creamed for this, but Ash isn't going to be in (my) ME 3 games. Even for the male Shepard (who preffers Tali anyways), she dies on Virmire. I just hope that Shepard gets a hairstyle that long.

I agree. Bring on the aliens! Humans..stay on earth or in the ship. Aliens have always been more interesting than the human squadmates.

Hissssssssss.

I'll give you Wrex and Legion but otherwise....
1 Turian who would probably be considered a whiner if he were a human.
1 over-dramatic Quarian in ME2.
1 Krogan who is weak comic-relief with no character past "OMG KILL THINGS!"
1 Mary-Sue Asari
1 Cliched warrior-monk Asari
1 Mary-Sue AND cliched warrior-monk Drell
1 Salarian who would probably be hated for killing an alien race if he were a human.

vs. 6 humans (sorry Jacob) who are complex, well-developed, imperfect (read: realistic), controversial, and ultimately: interesting.

I think only having Vega, Ash/Kaidan, and Liara in your crew could potentially be extremely epic. Come on, it's like your taking on the Reapers with The A-Team. And by the looks of it, it seems like we're going to have temp. squadmates on every mission anyway.

I'll give you... hm, no one. :P But my stance hisses at both of you -- I like everyone. So hah!

It's always a barrel full of laughs to see a Garrus/Tali fan complaining about character screen time.

Hey, now.  I like Ashley, too, so who's a fan of whom isn't mutually exclusive.  Besides, Garrus and Tali barely say two words to you outside of their character-specific missions.  Although if you really hate them, I can understand why you'd be frustrated with having to recruit them and play out the buddy-buddy parts so that you can get the proper upgrades so that the squadmates you actually like don't die.

Seriously, though, the whole squad hasn't been revealed yet.  The OP is seriously jumping to conclusions.

If someone HAS to die make it one of the aliens. The only madatory death is a human squaddie in ME1 so I'd rather not have the person I save be a mandatory death in the third game.

Dpending on if Garrus and Tali died in ME2. we may be looking at only three permanent teammates on the Normandy and at least one of the three (VS, Vega, Liara) will die and I'm guessing that it's Vega. In other words, we're getting the ME1 LI's shoved in our face agaisnt our will and may only have two after the first half of the game with an occasional character popping up for part of a missionn who's most likely to die at the end of it. This is beyond lame.

yeah ebcause they were ALL THROUGHOUT ME2! LIKE EVERYWHERE I LOOKED ASHLEY, KAIDAN, AND LIARA WERE RIGHT THERE BY SHPEARD'S SIDE AFTER THEY CAME BACK TO LIFE. THAT'S WHY ME2 WAS THE BEST GAME EVER I THE HSITORY OF LIFE.

/sarcasm.

yeah because that salarian doesn't want to bring the Turian, the quarian, the Asari, or the Krogan to certain death. It's gotta be one of of my best friends or my lover.Image IPB

People, relax...

as we all know the awesomeness that is Liara is going to become the main character after Shepard dies after the fourth mission. Than we'll have plenty of room for humans and aliens... and perhaps if we're very lucky a trash talking goat.

You should be flattered that he looked to your favorites first as the most competent and combat-ready.

*in the mind of captain kirrahe*

Take the krogan?  After that little hissy fit he just had?  Haha, no.  Quarian, pffft, too wimpy.  Asari?  Please, we need a soldier, not a librarian.  As for the turian... how about we let Shepard handle the angsty little cowboy?  Yes, I think I'd rather have a qualified combat specialist with adequate field experience who won't go apesh*t and compromise the mission, thanks.
