The world sounds very big. This is one excerpt from the article:

Where ever you go in the game you can use specific items called markers these markers will allow you to move and travel between locations quickly and easily.  It’s like using a warp or portal to get one one spot to another.  In the presentation Capcom stressed that using these markers is highly recommended as walking from one section of world to another can take quite a long time (over 15-30 mins if you decided to leg it) so taking the markers is a wise choice. You can can activate markers by using a ferry stone.

The article also states that there are plenty of NPC's to talk too who each have a lot to say. All are voiced too and I believe (judging from a video presentation where dialogue was written in Chinese) that the player will have dialogue to choose from too.

The game sounds like it's Dragon Age but in an open world to me. Looking forward to see how this progresses. So far, it looks pretty good.

Edit:

Here's the drake battle:

At 1:10, the drake takes off into the sky with our poor hero hanging on for life. This is a random drake battle which just goes to show how amazing this game's battles are going to be when sub bosses in the wilds feel like bosses out of Castlevania Lords of Shadow.

Edit 2:

Demo's date:

Edit:

Undead dragon:

Update:

Dragon's Dogma is getting a hard mode and speedrun mode for free this year and an expansion that releases next year.

That sounds like Morrowind's Mark and Recall spells.

You're forced a certain male character right? For this, I don't have much interest.

You can create your own character.

If you can change the size of your breasts, I'd say you can also create a female. ;)

Here's a whole thread devoted to it.

Well, nevermind then. The earlier previews when I first heard of the game never mentioned a character creator or much less the ability to play a female character.

Guess I will be looking out for this game then. And they're not the only game with the ability to change chest size.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Soul Calibur IV...

I wish they had a firm release date planned (unless I'm just missing it). The more photos of it I see, the more excited I get.

I also wish the writer of that article (posted by EJD) had enlisted the help of a proofreader. Punctuation is your friend, good sir. <_<

After watching the TGS videos, wish I had known about them sooner, my interest just skyrocketed.

I don't know why, but the town vibe kind of reminds me of Last Remnant. That's a good thing, a very good thing. I also like the aesthetics of the female characters and the way the skin tones are done, possibly the best skin tones I've seen in any customization system.

This game looks very similar to the Korean MMO Vindictus.

Capcom is funny.  They are bringing Street Fighter X Tekken to the PC next year but barely acknowledge RPG fans wanting Dragon's Dogma.  I own a PS3 but there are plenty of RPGs coming out on the PC next year to keep me busy.  Capcom's loss, not mine. :D

It's a JRPG in the fact that it's being developed by a Japanese company but it seems to have more in common with a WRPG. The fighting isn't turn based. Even the art style looks more western than eastern.

To be fair, even Japanese RPG developers are moving away from turn-based for the most part.

There's still some Japanese stylings to the way the characters look, but that's a very good thing for me.

Looks to me like they will be the Demon's Souls of the Dragon Age type games. Japanese RPG developers make good combat systems (they've been making a killing in the turn-based department for years now), and I can tell anyone that Demon's Souls is really well done, smooth and fluid--way better than Oblivion. As for the storyline, I hope they come out with someone good because Capcom really scares me in the storyline department (as in they totally suck). Maybe we will at least get something in the realm of Onimusha or Devil May Cry in terms of uniqueness--however unique those games are. I'm mainly interested in the customization and epic battles, though. I'm not really going to get too hyped about storyline or depth.

Look interesting. I just hope it won't be usual emo mumbo jumbo from japanese makers.

Yeah, the character customization and battles are what I'm drawn to myself.  I also can't wait to see what the class and leveling system is like.

I
can't imagine it being much different than White Knight Chronicles,
which I don't think fits that criteria at all.  But what do I know.

Capcom does some strange things some times. Just look at Lost Planet 2. Dragon's Dogma is on my need to try first list. Hopefully we will get a demo. Lets hope they strike gold like Namco with Demon's Souls.

Isn't that true of all video games? I mean Homefront was so hyped up and look at it. Or Duke Nukem Forever.

This. Japanese devs have always been excellent with combat systems. This game on a visual level looks far better than Skyrim. I don't expect a good story. I just hope enough people clamour for them to bring it to PC.

It all boils down to whether this is another B effort from Capcom, or if it's a title they really care about.

I just saw the PVE story trailer... really made me praise Obsidian and even BioWare for the superb voice actors they hire. I mean the voice acting isn't Oblivion bad, but It was a little bit of a letdown not hearing at least one really good voice like John Dimaggio, Claudia Black, or Simon Templeman. I don't think anyone should hype over the storyline because it doesn't sound deep, but the monsters look awesome especially the freaking lion/chimera. I just hope the companions are well written because that and the Landsmeet pretty much saved Origin's cliche story IMO. I also agree that Capcom better give this game some love. They really know how to wreak titles, though, so I'm kind of scared seeing where they take this ARPG because I'm pretty hyped.
