Wow, sorry to hear of internet/WiFi/laptop problems. Data limits suck. Hope everyone's problems are sorted out soon.

It is a shame you can only gift one blast arrow at a time as I have nearly 150 of them and I'm not using them, as my Arisen hasn't taken the step into being a ranger. I would gift loads of them otherwise.

Edit - loving 'Team Abs' shots!

@Bekkael - I think you will do just fine in the final confrontation with Grigori. Truth be told, the only place I died the first time I did it, was during a non-fighting portion (don't know if you want spoilers, so I left this vague...LOL). MA is a good choice. I have done it as an MA (first time through), and Assassin the second time. Here is a small list of (potentially...maybe) helpful hints:

1) Grigori is weak to Dark. If you have any weapons that deal that damage, they are a good choice.

2) If you have killed any of the dragons in BBI, you will have no real trouble with this dragon. Just know that he can and will "roost" at times. This can drag the fight out a bit, if your ranged weapons are not connecting with him.

3) Watch for possessed pawns. Not sure how Quinton and Shinon are set up with Possession protection (I think Chase currently is fully protected, but can't remember if that was the case for "bare-chested" Chase). To be on the safe side, bring some Placative Brew potions and hand out as needed. ;)

And that really is about it. I have had Quintin with me for the Ur-Dragon before (at least I'm pretty sure I have...lol), and he has fought Firedrakes, Wyverns and Cursed Dragons with me in BBI. I would say he is "schooled" pretty well for Grigori (though, if you have those Dragon Scrolls, use them to give him a bit more learning.). HAVE FUN! :D :D

@Newschmoo - lol....yeah, it is a pity what (and how) we can gift pawns. But I'm sure you are going to want those arrows, once you start playing around with Ranger. They are fun to use....take health off of creatures pretty damn quick. ;)

@Bekkael A lot of expensive potions, the means to regain most of my consumable items after every round and the ugliest outfit ever.
You'll want sixfold/ninefold bolt. A lot of the enemies you'll face are weak to ice.

Okay, very helpful. So, weak to ice and dark, and bring extra placative brews, just in case. Got it!

Should I also bring along a Maker's Finger, or is it better to enjoy the whole fight without cutting it off early?

I really like fighting Cursed Dragons in BBI and yesterday I finally killed that drake in Devilfire Grove because I have become addicted to dragonforging weapons and armor. When I found the stupid drake only forged 1 piece, I went back to BBI and used the bait meat to get the rest of my stuff forged lol. It's quite addicting, isn't it? :P

I don't think you can use Maker's Finger with MA. I think it only works with the Arisen's standard bows. Worth double checking, of course. I personally have never used a Maker's Finger for Grigori (or in any other fight, truth be told), and I think the fight was just fine without it. Mileage may vary. ;)

I'm fond of DFing too....but they can be stingy at times. heh!

You guys are talking about the Grigori fight? I thought he was a big pushover. Of course, I had Shinon and Briana along for help, so the fight was over within a couple of minutes.

The only scary part about the fight for me was finding out that I was stuck with Madeleine both times. Posted Image But there are worse things. (Aelinore?) Hehe.

Cursed dragons are the best for dragonforging, hands-down. I went back out into the wilds of Gransys a couple of days back, and when all was said and done, fought 5 standard fare dragons, and not a single item got forged. Nothing.

We messed around in BBI for a bit last night, going to places we hadn't visited in awhile - the Black Abbey, Pilgrim's Gauntlet, etc. In one room (the one that is the same layout as the Midnight Helix, but its name escapes me), there was a metal golem. Not a single freaking pawn would shoot at the discs. Not one. In the midst of that, they kept getting carried off by succubi, and my Arisen kept getting bit by Strigoi.

Then stupid Death showed up, and took everyone out. And my pack mule had been carrying all of the Liftstones. I had to hightail it all the way back to a Rift stone. How embarrassing.

Oh, you're right! Derp. I forget that MA isn't really treated like a normal archer, and can't use all those different kinds of arrows. :P Guess that takes care of that. I like having the ability to use my staff in addition to bow and daggers. Which is really why I like MA best...levitating to get to loot and enchanting/casting spells myself.

 I don't think this will happen to me. Reynard is the only character I ever got to max affinity (Reminishrooms FTW!). I even hit Fournival with my sword once by accident (I was trying to flash my weapon at him and hit attack instead heh). It was well worth the trip to jail to keep his affinity low...I think having a romantic scene with that gross guy could scar my Arisen for life.:pinched:

@Bekkael I wouldn't be to sure. Barnaby had pink clouds of lurve around his head AND an Arisen's Bond.

Grigori: BUT YOU GAVE THIS CHILD A PARTY HAT. THAT IS A DECLARATION OF LOVE. MUCH MORE THAN A STUPID RING.

Aelinore is dangerous.

LOL! Aelinore was my first Arisen's luva.....dammit! I was trying to have him hook up with Reynard so I could have another place to Enhance, instead of always going to Caxton. But alas, I sucked at figuring out affinity correctly, the first go around.

Ulee is shacked up with Ser Max and Selene. Max has one line.....one line! "With all that I am, I thank you."
SHUDDUP! >.< XD I had a soft spot for him, and really, he was my back up choice (tried for Reynard again). I gifted Reynard much more than Max, but both did get an Arisen Bond. I was just trying to avoid Aelinore (and wasn't that interested in Madeline since she will be in Cassadis after Grigori anyway, if you did her final quest and helped her.)

Selene at least can make me potions, "Herbs? Ahh, for brewing ale."

Is she the one that I just stood there and watched the Duke choke the life out of? :innocent:

I haven't seen her since, so I guess he was successful. Either way, I'll be amazed if she shows up for me, since that was the only time I ever saw her or spoke to her. The game info screen states that I only have max affinity with 1 character, and Reynard was the only one who had the pink blush and that little bell sound effect when I spoke to him. If any of the innkeepers show up, I will be bummed! :? I flashed my weapons at everyone but Reynard, so here's crossing my fingers that it worked. :wizard:

Don't mind me. Just posting on the 100th page...

Never thought it would make it tbh.

This is a cause for celebration.

Hmm, Arisen's Bond. I don't have one.

I think I screwed this playthrough up all over the place. I never did any quests with Quina other than to escort her to the Abbey, where she has remained throughout my game, and I never got a quest with Selene at all. *shrug*

^ That's awesome! XD I swear if it's Fournival, I will walk away from that shizz. No freakin' way is he getting my Arisen. *feels nauseous at the thought*

EDITED to add: I'm watching this final battle vid on youtube and....I think I can do a better job than this. This guy is taking forever to kill the dragon and spends half his time rezzing pawns. Archer classes FTW, I say: death, done quickly.

That guy just sucks then. I've yet to play any ranged class for a full run. Each time I've faced Grigori it's been as a melee character (warrior, fighter, mystic knight). The mystic knight (while being able to employ magic) is still mainly a class where you get up close and personal with your enemies (well there are some abilities where you can be more strategic with the class as well as ranged but I prefer the more offensive abilities and I only use the cannon spell for killing enemies running away or out of my reach).

Anyway what I'm saying is that I've never had any trouble with Grigori. I dispatched him rather quickly each time. In fact with my warrior I just climbed up to his head (one of his weak spots) and just hit away at him as he was caught in a stun lock. Within a few minutes he had zero health, I hit his heart and then he was dead.

I have to use my phone's internet to get on Live. Most of the local providers won't be available out in the boonies for about five years.

As someone who lives in the boonies, I sympathise. We just got "high-speed" (it isn't) internet here a few years ago.
It goes out often. But it's either spotty, crappy internet or no internet. Or move.

Time for about an hour of gaming, hopefully I can make it to an armor chest before I go crazy with picture taking.

Oh, and happy 100, Dragon's Dogma Thread!

Have a blast from the past. Here's my first arisen whacking Reynard with a staff while Adaro stands guard.

^ Thanks for the chuckle. Poor Reynard, but I have to admit, I felt like that after the wild goose chase he sent me on, and getting stiffed with Grigori. Ah well, thongs, right? Thongs!

I should see if the romance scenes are on YouTube. I'm still curious about Valmiro.

I just showed my husband that we're up to 100 pages, and he looked at me like I'm a big dork. It's true. :D Happy 100!

And a couple of pics from tonight.

Woolie was getting so tired of killing the Duke's guards, that he prayed for it to end. Often.

And I thought I'd dress Lielle up as Olra.

Basically none of that stuff is Dragonforged, so that's what I'll be doing tomorrow night.

And Gabs is a Mage, once again.

Heya, I have a DD question here:

My husband started playing DD and he is a magical archer - maybe lvl 25 or so. Why isn't he able to double vault? He never leveled up the strider vocation to its max. Does that affect double vault ability?

Oh also, if anyone's interested...

Console: Xbox360

My husband's gamer tag is "joepini" and his pawn is a fairly low level strider (in the 20's). If any generous high level souls out there want to pick her up and make her a little smarter/more sharply dressed/armed - by all means. ;)

(Help him out! He's very new at the game.)

Also, I have a slightly higher level fighter pawn - in the 60's. My gamertag is "shovetrista". I've beaten the game once, but I play slowly and take my time to enjoy it. Starting Dark Arisen now. :-)

Feel free to friend me/PM me if you want to play!
