The problem with this DLC announcement is that it suggests the content is probably already on the disc. This makes me wary and makes me thing what other plans Capcom have for DD. Will they also be releasing an ending DLC for DD? I don't want to spend 100 hours in the game building my character and party up and completing quests and then getting involved in the story and characters only for the ending to be a cliff-hanger which is to be concluded in digital DLC which I would never buy.
Exactly, Capcom's business practices are disgraceful. My rights as a consumer, whether it be a video game, movie or book, is to have a complete product available when I buy it; and a complete video game has a beginning, middle and end, not £40 for the game, and extra £7 for what should already be included in what I payed for. If they go with that route then I'm probably going to wait till I get it pre-owned.
A "noble" gesture, if it wasn't a practice done widely across this entire medium. If the DLC issue is such a big deal, then out of principle you shouldn't play video games. EA, Capcom, Ubisoft, all do it, so it's nothing new. If it's weapon packs, I'm not interested. If it's story based, it depends how intriguing the story is to begin with.

I agree with both of you on this. While I see your point about his stance on DLC may be hypocritical with Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age under his name, it comes off as extremely crass that Capcom are doing this with new IP's that haven't proved themselves yet. I know those other companies pull some bad stuff, but "true ending DLC" in a new IP? That's truely horrifying if that is direction big companies are going in, and makes me thankful for Double Fine for possibly starting the greatest thing in gaming.
There has been no claim that Dragon's Dogma will have "true ending DLC."  The game's not out either, so It's impossible to say that the dlc they are planning is on the disc. The only claim they have made is that the DLC will be based around sidequests. What that means remains to be seen, but it's not on par with adding in an important character at the end of a trilogy as DLC or "true endings."

That character is a million times better than the one pictured above, what is it from?

That may have been true for the male characters, but the women in skyrim were still designed around a similar concept. The picture is from Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

I think your wrong with the female characters, my Breton Female mage (lowest build settings) and my female Wood Elf warrior (max build) look nothing alike. Sure, they may not have the mass of the males, but when you account that testosterone has a hand in mass building, it makes sense.

I never claimed that DD had that, but that is in Capcom's history and now a part of their identy as a publisher. Besides, I'm sure they did not come out and say that AW would not be shipped with the real ending and that it would later be sold as DLC.

When you add in that every recent Capcom game has some kind of bad press surrounding them, it paints a bad picture for the company going forward. Plus, do not take the word of developers as set in stone, it is ultimately the publisher that gets the final say. David Jaffe did not want online pass in Twisted Metal, but Sony said oh well.

No. Most games release with the stories complete.

As far as I know DA2 and ME3 have complete endings and ME3 is only getting the endings "extended" because of the fan outcry and the DLC is free.

Charging £7 on the otherhand for the ending isn't something I've encountered in a Bioware game.

It's not something that's happening directly yet but video games are certainly going on a slippery slope down that path, Capcom have already begun trying it with the whole Asura's Wrath "true ending" bullsh*t and I could put my money down EA/Bioware would have tried something like that for ME3 if not for the massive fan outcry.

As for Dragon's Dogma, well I'll be keeping a careful eye on what happens. It's a game I'd very much like to enjoy playing and it could go either way with dlc, but 100 sidequests for dlc before the game is released...that's a lot of content before the game is even out and that leaves me very skeptical for how future content may be handled. If they milk it for dlc then it's something I'm just going to have pass playing, I simply can't support business practices like that.

My reply was in jest. I prefer a smaller bust to a bigger one, but that's another topic altogetherI'm just glad we finally have a game that will allow you to build an athletic character like Korra without having to have a stock body type that is clearly designed to be "sexy."

Oh I wasn't knocking you or anything, and I actually do like the character you presented! I was just airing out my preferences as well.

And I agree, dragon's dogma already does more right than most games ever have in this regard.

I agree that the ladies need more muscles, at least as an option! I just get tired of men being ripped and muscly while women are always, ALWAYS skinny with unmarred skin. Give them some scars, show that they live in a tough world. It takes some serious musce to wear heavy armor and weapons, and hell it even takes some muscle to wield a bow.

From the screen shots DD already has plus points with me when it comes to armor, the women don't just get chainmail bikini's and actually look ready for a fight.

I can never get enough of busty women.  But I like Korra too, she looks great and her personality is the kind I like.

Can't get enough of female muscles, or at least women who have some meat on their bones, especially in the arms.  I don't mind chainmail biknis either, I'm just a very aesthethically inclined person so anything that appeals to my visual senses I love to death.  That's just the way I am.

As for the armor in DD, as long as there's some that accenuates the chest, I'm good.

Capcom up to their tricks I see? I thought they would treat a new IP different and at least lay off this stuff for the first game but it seems not. It makes me wonder what else will be DLC. If the ending is a cliff hanging then you can bet to God Almighty that the ending will be concluded in the "The Real Ending DLC" that releases for £5 or something.

I bet this DLC is is disc locked too.

Previously it was announced that the Xbox 360 would be getting an 8 quest DLC pack before the PS3:

http://www.xbox360ac...-360-First.html

Day one DLC too? I'm not sure I want to be part of this shoddy operation. It's not okay. I wonder how much rage will unleash upon the internet when the majority discover this. People were killing themselves over ME3's day one DLC which was just that extra character gueezer. I wonder what the reaction to this will be...

The top site may not be trustworthy. For all we know it could be lying as no other site has mentioned it but the second site is trustworthy and with that DLC already confirmed...well that speaks for itself really. If more sites start mentioning that 100 quest pack DLC and source it then I guess that'll confirm it.

Back to Dark Souls if that's the case I guess.

Thank you Capcom
i can save my money.
Dammit I can't even pretend to be happy about this.
Once again an awesome looking game is being tarded down for greedy business practices and now I'm left wondering what am I missing out on.  I should stop paying attention the hype for any game because the companies behind it will always ruin it.
Thats it.
I will not touch this game.

Prince of Persia did this and I sold the game. You shouldn't have to pay extra for the real ending.

So long as the main quest and the story is completed within the game I'll be happy.

New trailer:

This trailer shows a cockatrice which can turn people to stone. It seems to be tied up in the story judging by the events in the trailer so there's a few small spoilers.

I'm done speculating on the whole thing.  Capcom can do whatever they want.  This game looks awesome but I will NOT support any company that does thi PERIOD.  Every time I give and do I ALWAYS regret it.  I'm done.

Not as bad as Capcom.
And to say their all doing it so untrue I'm not even going to counter.

Not talking about DLC in general like you are.
we're talking day one charged DLC.
it screams ALREADY ON DISC and greed.
If other companies do it than I'm done with them.
I'm not buying EA or Ubisoft games either.
These companies need a wake up call and it breaks my heart seeing so many people go "oh others do it not a big deal"

Whether it's on the disk or not isn't the issue guys. Sometimes a foundation has to be in place for future DLC. I don't blame devs for doing this. If CDPR had taken the time to prep sh*t for future patches, TW2 would be more polished.

No, the real problem is: 100 new quests. Capcom seems to be taking an MMO approach here, in which case I hope this game and Capcom die a fiery death.

I get that, I don't mind them having some character models that are designed like Miranda's and others, just having some variety to even things out would be very appreciated. This game however gives us the option for this with our Original Character and our Pawns, so I'm very pleased with that.

Ding ding ding.
This right here.
If its out the same day as the game is I'm going to assume its on the disc and lately I been right every time.  Capcom said they see no difference between normal DLC and Disc locked content.
Thats gotta tell you something about their business.  It screams "we don't give a flying f about you we just want your money"  I told myself after ME3 that I wasn't going to fall for how good a game looks when they do this kind of BS to us.  I have plenty other games and there are even more that are coming out that interest me.  Enjoy the game guys because I'm just gonna have to pass.

Yes and I'm boycotting EA too.
I didn't buy either one of those and I never will.  My nephew said it best.

This isn't just Capcom no but not everyone is doing it I mean I'm still getting updates for Left 4 Dead 2.... I payed 5 bucks for that and DLC is patched into the game.
Other than a really awesome lookin game can anyone give me any reason why I should put up with this at all?

Not really. Perhaps you could wait for the inevitable Dragon's Dogma Super God Gold Deluxe Edition of The Dragon which releases next year with all content.

Optionally you could buy the game now and play through the 200 hours content it offers. Sell it and then buy the Dragon's Dogma Super God Gold Deluxe Edition of The Dragon next year. I did this for Dragon Age: Origins before buying the Ultimate Edition which was rumored to be coming several months after I brought my copy. I've done the same for Two Worlds 2 and will pick up the "GOTY" edition (includes the expansion) when it drops to £30 so I don't lose out on any money (in fact I profit).

Or maybe you might wait three years and buy the Dragon's Dogma Rediculously Super Awesome God Sexy Handsome Mad Man of Badassesery Deluxe Gold and Silver Edition of The Dragon and Capcom Signed By Developers of Capcom Exclusive Driztsaian Multi DLC Package.

Another option is to buy it used so that Capcom don't get any of your money. It's entirely up to you at the end of the day but one guy boycotting won't really strike a blow against Capcom and their greedy practices. It'll be different if loads of people were to boycott but I don't think this will happen for some time.

Android is right. Best to just enjoy the lot that DD does offer (200 hours of content). I'm sure Capcom will get what's coming to them one day. Optionally just do what I suggested above instead of skipping a game you obviously want to play.

Hey to each there own. I just want more games that accomodate my taste, and you have to admit the vast majority already accomodates yours. For every ME1 Ashley Williams, there are 50 Miranda's (and 25 ME3 Ashley

I'll take every small victory I can get.

What? That is nowhere close to true. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, KOTOR, Skyrim... The games the way they were made don't have any of that for the main character. And in DAII Isabella is the only one with what could be considered a skimpy outfit. The armors in DA and DAII cover waytoo much.

I have not said anywhere near enough about what I look for to get the big picture. That's okay, but even Ashley in Mass Effect 3 doesn't have any sexy outfits. Well, except what she's wearing in that bed. But that's probably her under clothes.

Used sounds good right about now
The truth is I don't care if this doesn't make any difference.  Every time I give into this I regret it later.  I wish I boycotted ME3 like I planned to but I gave in and bought it.  Why is it not under my picture where I supposed to register it?  Because I'm ashamed to own it.  I said No Origin or no buy.  I said no first day DLC or no buy I had all these flags saying don't buy it and I bought it anyway.
I'm getting the same flags here I'll just be hypocrite if I keep giving in just because I'm so excited for a damn video game.  There are damn free to play games coming out that excite me!  I won't have to put a cent into those and Capcom is thinking 60 bucks isn't enough anymore.
No weather or not anyone else boycotts it isn't the point.  I'm not looking to change the industry I'm just not going to support this kind of business period.

Edit: Ah just to say, when I mentioned there are women more tailored toward your taste, I was only going for what you said, which was of course not all the traits of what you would like, (its the same for me.) I was just pointing out the disparity, and why I felt burnt out on most women portrayed in videogames. It can be hard to care for them when the feel as generic as can be. (For example, that chinese girl from Binary Domain. )

Not anywhere close to true? Mate I am talking industry wide here, not Bioware (who are actually one of the better developers out there.)

Also my reference to ME3 Ashley was the fact she is a "compromise." They were trying to go both sexy, and keep her a soldier. (which in my opinion failed both ways,)

Almost every videogame that has a woman in it is made sexy. Large breasts, skimpy clothes, armor that in now way should even be considered protective. Which is alright, its one taste and I even enjoy it sometimes.

You can provide me, I am sure, about fifty example of women who are not like what I mentioned above. (Faith, alex, a few bioware characters, etc.) But it doesn't change the fact that the vast majority are tailored as I mentoned above, and as such I am burnt out on it, and thus find other less often seen type characters either more attractive, or more engaging.

For example, I REALLY liked Aveline from DA2. Bioware really surprised me with her, and made me rage (and rejoice at the same time) when you were not only unable to romance her, but she outright rejects you and finds her own love.

And I am starting to feel we are derailing the thread. :P

It's still on topic, the character creator is a big selling point for this game, so character design is important to the topic. I also have to agree on the history of female character designs. For every Faith,Samus, Chloe, Aveline or Alex, there are about a thousand Mirandas. I find it to be excessive, and their attempts at making them sexy falls flat just about every time.

Well yeah, but I felt like we are derailing the thread because Dragon's Dogma is, from what we can see, pretty damn good in this regard thanks to their character creator.

Oh man I am going to agonize trying to figure out who and what my "main" pawn is going to be. I just wish we could customize all of our pawns. :P

There aren't as many as you claim to be.  Also, most of them are supporting roles.  We need more games with main characters that are female.

(For example, that chinese girl from Binary Domain. )

I'm also burnt out on female characters in games for opposite reasons, how is that possible?  I'm also talking industry wide.  But one thing we agree on, is we need more female characters with meat on their bones.

Ah, Aveline... And in no way was she ugly or less than gorgeous.  I just wish we got to see more of her arms and any clip of her abs, I bet she's got a six pack. lol

This thread has been derailed since the creator of it now doesn't want anything to do with the game. (WTH?)

You still got us beat, but I wished they did flesh out Aveline a bit more. I liked her a lot, but Isabella and Varric clearly got more treatment than she did.

Well, if they don't want anything to do with the game, we'll use it to talk about the game, cus I've been pre-ordered and I'm still pretty damn excited for it.
