What's so good about this game? Simply curious.

The combat, the character creator and customization, the fact that I can spend about 8 hours just collecting screenshots. That last one might just be for me.

The story isn't the best, in fact it's quite blah until the end. Combat is where DD shines.

Why would you spend so much time collecting screenshots?

Because It's fun, and I've done everything there is to do in DD already.

Just so we're clear, 8 hours is a bit of an exaggeration. More like two. Any more than that and I'll get bored and have to quit for a while.

@happy - Damn woman....your enthusiasm with Diablo III, has me wanting to get it. I barely have time to play any DD as it stands, but.......New! Shiny! *grabby hands* The reality is, I only buy about two games a year: DD:DA was one, so I'm thinking Diablo may be my number 2 buy. Though, to really enjoy it, I think I should wait till time is not so thin.

@OdanUrr - I think the answer to your question would vary among even those of us that play regularly. So I can only answer for myself. The story line is rather simple, but there are interesting elements. Truth be told though, I don't play this game so much for story or even role playing (though I do a little bit, more as a comical farce.....screenshots help with that. Thank you Shepenwepet for that bit of crack! LOL). What I do love and what keeps my playing are the following:

1) Character Creator. It's bloody fun. So much variety, I just can't get bored with it. ;)

2) Builds. Between Discipline points and XP, leveling up the vocations, min/maxing if you choose, and running with various augments, there is just so much variety. And since you get to set this up not only for your PC, but also your Pawn, it gives you lots of opportunities to try new things.

3) Pawns. The AI can be a bit of a joke at times (but I just find that funny....lol. Bad, BAD Shinon for jumping off that cliff to your doom....and for no apparent reason. XD ), but if they are built well, they can do a lot of damage. And they definitely are good for a laugh. Quite often. :D The fact that you can share with with other gamers, makes the system even more appealing.

4) Loot. I love loot, and this game has a ton of it. The clothing, armor, weapons and crafting material is extensive. Love being able to mix and match armor/clothing. Finding and upgrading new weaponry and armor, is also great. You really CAN see how improved the items are, when you start fighting enemies with upgraded weapons.

5) Screenshots. It doesn't work as well as taking screenies on your PC, but just the fact that they have this option, is fantastic. Just look through this thread for some of the outrageous photos people have been able to capture. They are a hoot!

Those are just my main reasons for enjoying this game. I can run around upgrading, fighting, looking for photo ops, garnering new loot, and not worry about how invested in the story I am (mostly because I have run multiple play throughs, so I am more than familiar). This makes it a great little diversion type game. And it means I can play in short bursts, and still have some satisfaction. :D

If you do decide to pick it up, let us know if you want to trade gamertags. It's nice being able to rent others pawns from your friend list, without spending Rift Crystals.

I agree with everything coldy says. The CC is the best I've ever seen; I can make just the kind of character I've always wanted to make in an RPG... no more meathead musclebound guy; I can make my cute sneaky archer. It's awesome. I initially spent about an hour tweaking him and his pawn, then even came back and tweaked some more until they're both just right in my eyes. I wouldn't change a hair on their heads. Well, I do keep vascillating between freckles and a beauty mark for Arya, but such is life.

I am not even into RPGs (like hardcore stuff) and the building and class-shifting is awesome enough to get ME into it. I'm reading up on how to best augment my characters, what class they should be leveling up in, etc. And I can build them all differently. Some people like well-balanced pawns, while I have a magic-heavy pawn and a strength-heavy pawn. It is so fun.

And... the outfits!!!! Yes, the outfits lol I had particular fun playing dress-up with Arya today. For some reason, she's more fun to dress than Seel. There just aren't too many outfits that look good on a slender male mage, I guess. Everything looks awesome on my amazon girl though lol

@Shepen - What a "smiley Saurian".....he's kinda cute. Makes ya wanna give him a scratch under his big ole chin. XD Too bad he took umbrage from your Alynna just trying to be friendly. Hate it when you get giant branches stuck in your face.....or "through" your face.

Hrmmm....I must be losing it. I could have sworn I posted my latest screenies. But apparently, I did not. Must rectify...

I love that, what a great shot! You're like the David Bailey of Dragon's Dogma!

I love the DD screenshots, I wish more games had a similar system.  I agree with Happy, more screenies!

I think I'm going to start a new Arisen/pawn tomorrow.  And then switch between my current Arisen and my new one. I want to have a female pawn for a bit of a change.

I have a challenge, folks. Use face shape 47 and make a decent looking character. And no cheating and hiding it with a beard.

Shinon's got it now and I'm trying to get a shot of it but it appears his chin broke the share button. He looks like a frog.

^ Is there a deadline for this challenge? I might be up for trying that this weekend. Of course, I'm nowhere near my xbox atm, so I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. Hehe.

There is no deadline and no prize for winning! That's the best kind of challenge! :)

I honestly don't see why face shape 47 is even an option.

Maybe Shinon wouldn't look so ridiculous with 47 if his features were bigger. He's got the smallest eyes in the CC and the smallest mouth. That, coupled with a gigantic Robert Z'Dar face... yeah, it doesn't work.

Wow Shinon, that's some jaw! I'll be playing DD later, so I'll give it a whirl. When should we post pics? Tomorrow?

I have noticed that there are some 'diverse' face shapes in the CC.

It's quite a hoot to just enter the CC and swap your current pawn and arisen's face shape for 47 without any adjustments. It was so much concentrated sexy that I got disconnected from Xbox live.

Aaaand I finally got the dragonwing circlet! :wizard: Arya finally has a complete, nice-looking outfit. Let's see how long I stay satisfied with the purple, green, and silver motif though. Man, turns out a dragonwing circlet goes well with everything... who'd a thunk it xD

I wonder what Face 47 is for a female. I might try it on my Arisen. That one's definitely not the only wonky looking face, either. Ohh can't wait to try it on Seel!

I've so far always gotten my intended LIs... sure, this means I miss out on some quests and locations, but I'm fine with that :innocent:

Well done on getting the Dragon wing Circlet. I will get one eventually, once i've stopped skipping round Gransys! I want to build up Ranger skills for BBI second round *ding ding*!

@shepenwepet - was that taken during Aelinore's rescue from the castle/fort?

This is Thomas with face 47. I think he overdid it with the lip filler and has ended up with a trout pout!

LOLOLOLOL!!! Those pics are brilliant! I must get on this right away. XD

Especially since I STILL haven't posted my previous set of screenies. Damn, I am so easily sidetracked, as of late. :P

So, face #47............................
