I just got a sweet message on XBL from a complete stranger:

"I wanted to thank you for Iorveth. He was a great part of our team through 3 times of DD & DA. Triss and Geralt will miss him!"

Aww.

That's awesome. I can only imagine what kind of messages I'd get if I left Shinon open to everyone.

"Yeah, I just hired Shinon. What the hell is wrong with you? Rolf and Gatrie are beyond grossed out."

Per the wiki:

High Mobility: While wielding daggers, they have access to the dodge roll and double jump skills, and still have access to high levels of stamina and climbing power. This makes them able to easily move about the world and battlefield.

So if you ditched the long sword, and used daggers with Assassin, you'd have double jump.

:o Thanks!! I need to see which it would be better to leave him as, ranger or assassin. I just gotta have my bow, that's all's I know!

And that's awesome about Iorveth :D I feel like that's part of what make DD such a special game.

I googled "Seel," who is actually named after a character from the novel Wraeththu. Apparently it's a pokemon. Greeeeat!

Lol

So here I am stalking Medusa, or whoever is talking to me, and twice I've had to go back to the riftstone. I'm going to know it is allll me if Val jumps in the water next. I've lost both Thomas and Shinon to voluntary death by brine. :)

On the other hand, I haven't died...yet.

A minor request of those whose pawns use daggers - if you have the skill toss and trigger/advanced trigger, could you equip it to them? Of course, you don't have to, use whichever skills you like, but...

...Shinon needs some help... ;)

Yeah, quite often the pawns decide they just can't handle it anymore and commit pawn-style seppuku, which usually involved the brine or a bridge :)

Thought I'd provide a more "battle ready" screen shot of Rohan, so here he is with Seel, Chase, and Shinon, who is currently fascinated by the shininess of the fire. Apologies to Shep if he comes back with a burnt nose.

I admit it, I threw my controller. My daughter left the room and the dogs went with her. LOL Then, then I opened the wrong chest. But I liiiive mwahahahaha!

I'm a "casual gamer" in the sense I'm not too good at micromanaging characters/inventory and don't invest much time into games anymore. But is Dragon's Dogma worth checking out? Also is Awakening an add on or a sequel?

It is worth checking out. It's very combat-heavy, and the story isn't anything to write home about, but the game is addictive. There's a demo you can download, so you can get an idea of what's in store for you.

Dark Arisen is an expansion, and Capcom gave some silly excuses as to why you can't purchase it seperately. Don't buy the vanilla game, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen contains the vanilla game plus the expansion, and it's the same price.

Agree with Shepenwepet; I, too, consider myself a casual gamer, and a particular newcomer to RPGs. I find DD: DA engaging and FUN; I have great fun changing classes, mixing up and changing armor, clothes, and weapons, and deciding which pawns to take where.

There is a "casual" mode as well as a normal mode and a hard mode. The game lets you decide how challenging you want it to be :)

Warning: the combat is addictive. This coming from a girl who is not really into combat!!!

Guys...do the number of...little kill me circles (lives?)...go up each time you kill them? I swear that GoreCyclops had fewer lives the last time...

@Coldi...the moved the tornado watch expiration from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am. But hey, it might snow on the panhandle.

I hate Nebraska weather.

I think the winged thing is a gargoyle :) I hate gorecyclopes... one of the hardest creatures for me to kill.

Today I used my first wakestone. It was... in the EVERFALL!!!! Seel was leveling up in fighter, and I had Val and Thomas. Entered the rotunda where you can sometimes find a wyrm; well, I had beaten the wyrm, but when I returned to the rotunda, it contained a surprise: a chimera, a gorechimera, a floating wizard guy, and some hellhounds. The pawns died left and right. At one point I was the only one alive. I swear the hellhounds were regenerating (wizard guy's doing??).

Showed me how much I must rely on pawns ;) Thomas was the toughest cookie... only died a couple times, poor guy. Seel and Val must've had a death pact because they went down left and right.

When I play Assassin, I always carry daggers with me (just like when I play MA, I always tote along my mage staff, even though I generally use the daggers as MA). I like keeping my options open. lol!

@happy - That is so flippin' awesome! Iorveth is loved... <3 <3
:D

@mnomaha - I threw my controller once with DD....it was before I ever knew anything about the game (hadn't checked out anything on the internet), and I didn't know that I should just high-tail it out of the first Everfall encounter that you take upon Barnaby's request. LOL!

@Shepen - I will totally put Advanced Trigger on Chase...though, he might already have it. Possibly.

@IllusivemanJr - Like Shepenwepet said, worth checking out the demo, at the least. This game is quite addictive. Lots of loot!! (my favorite)

@mnomaha - hmmm.....I don't think the beasties change in how much life they have, once they respawn. BUT, there are two types of Gorecyclops : regular and Condemned. The Condemned version have more health, armor, and are bigger.

Well, you get a reprive till morning....?? >.< Dammit woman, get your butt to Oregon. XD
Oh....and you have a BSN "mail". heh!

He does.

Or rather, he did after I released him and rehired him.

We killed Death, Chase celebrated by almost plummeting to his death.

So now that I've discovered the joy that is Masterful Kill... just basically stand there in the middle of a fight and wait for someone to attack me so that the cool cut scene plays out >.>

^ BWAHAHA! Well, sheet on a shingle! Shinon is now giving reporting assignments to the other Rangers. Chase's name is now rather apt for this new role. XD

Oh....and my blonde bimbo of an elf is extremely prone to jumping off the highest points, in the Midnight Helix. I dunno....he thinks he can fly. El stupido. I usually see nothing, but his little red arrow is fainter than the rest who are generally right around my arisen, while he is now on the floor of the room. At that point I hear, "A bit of refreshment is in order." .........putz. :P

Does he have a last name, perchance? or is it just "Chase", like Cher? ;) I was thinking of doing a little bit of horrid photoshop paint experiments for the next "report." Shinon made up his own last name, I'm warning you now.

And one last photo before bed.

Guys, come on, you're not attacking that saurian, you're just flexing.

Seel is back as ranger. Revenant Wail and Heaven's Key make him strong in magick and strength... and by "strong" I mean "kind of balanced but hey, he's still level 81 so don't expect a miracle, people!" of course :P

Aaaaand he finally has sinew. When he's not in the Rift, he's working his way through fighter, then eventually warrior. We will get those awesome augments, slowly but surely.

Seel actually has a last name since he's based on my own character: Seel O'Corrain. Consequently Rohan's last name, too, since Seel is his uncle.

Arya is a completely made up pawn, and since she's a combo of two of my favorite characters by that name, let's say her last name is *wait for it* ...... T'Stark.

See what I did there :wizard:

EDIT: Was playing with toss and trigger and now have the utmost respect for Shep's photo capturing skills. I gave up trying to mimic a microphone after about 30 odd tries.

The timing is like, gahhhh!!

Shinon went a little... overboard with his. I want to post the shot so bad, but i'm going to wait. I'm thinking of having a "ticker" running across the bottom of the screens as well. I was having far too much fun last night.

If you hammer the start button after the fire burst, you'll get it. Once you memorize the animation, it becomes almost effortless. If you're paying attention to silly things like, I dunno, staying alive and attacking things, maybe it's harder to concentrate. :D

Yes those are indeed very silly things

I was practicing with my Arisen so I can do it outside of battle. I'll try some more tonight. Not that I intend to make Rohan Gransys' next great traveling reporter (he says Shinon has the face for that sort of thing). Can't really do it with Seel because Heaven's Key makes a poor microphone lol

I also keep trying to catch a cool shot of Masterful Kill but it's a no-go so far. Why have I not been playing assassin-with-daggers all this time, why? It is awesome.

I don't think you can get the "microphone pose" outside of battle, since it requires the fire blast to be triggered.

And it's hard to get a close up shot of your arisen doing it, this is as close as the game would let me get to Alynna when I was in the Fortress of Remembrance.

Oh, bugger. Well maybe I'll have Shinon and Chase in my party later and practice with them. Hey, maybe I'll even get some great shots and can send them your way! :P

Shinon looks confused that someone else is doing the news instead of him.
