Now that would be a huge mistake.

Just slap a USB drive in there and viola! You have two separate drives for saves.

I tried out the demo last night. I thought it was quite, "Meh". I think Reckoning: Kingdoms of Amalur does a much better job of being an epic 3rd person action RPG. Better graphics, better combat. I can't really say much about loot since the demo was so utterly short. Also it's Capcom. That's a big red flag for me.

Short demo is short, i think i watched too many videos and learn how to play properly :)
Both monsters were just easy once you grip them.

But quite excited by the gameplay, smooth and satisfying. I was thinking playing a fatso mage(he is ready :)) but Shield bash feels solid...
Bleh hard choice :)

I agree with Cyberarmy, the demo did feel pretty short, but what was there was great; the gameplay was solid and fun the grab mechanic works great especially when fighting the Griffon in the sky. Only minor annoyance is the slow-motion zoom in of pawns, but that can apparently be removed via options so it's all good, wish they'd shut up a bit though.

All in all I'll be looking forward to buying this game. Hopefully it will live up to it's expectations.

The character creator was nicely done (although the hair is kinda..meh). I liked the variations with scars, body styles, etc., and the fact that my character's boobs didn't have to be the size of watermelons. I also enjoyed being able to grab onto the chimera thingie, while stabbing it, that was a nice touch.

I agree about the hair, but I really like the variety of styles.  This is one of the first times where I feel like I had an actual choice.

I also made a really tall character that towered over the battlefield and this made my heart sing.  I want to create a really muscular girl character too and I'm looking forward to being able to create a variety of body times instead of default super babe.  That didn't stop me from my Pawn friend one because well, that's what I wanted to do *coughs*

But yeah...love the CC.

The actual gameplay/combat seems okay but since we don't get a lot of time with combat I'm going see how that goes when I play.  In general though I like it enough.  I'm not too picky as long as it doesn't play out like Product Number 3...T_T....worst gaming experience ever.

Just throwing this out there, Capcom has already released a game on the 3DS that only has one save file that cannot be deleted.

Anyone that's played the demo, what would you compare the combat to? God of War, DA2, KOA, etc?

Loved the demo . Played it twice . The demo did not give me great insight about the roleplaying mechanism. That something I wanted to know. Like the leveling system , the inventory(equipement) system and the dialogue system(Hell even their loot system)

The demo was kind of short too . It's was pretty much a demo about how boss are fought . I wish the  retail game will be harder. It's was on the easy side of the spectrum. I was never much threatened.  Jumping on those boss seem to make you invincible.

Finnaly I find no reason to use the 'special attack' since mashing the normal attack was actually better. Figure.

I  did find the game quite blurry( The field of vision/distance was atroce especialy in the opened world)  and the camera angle pissed me off in many occasion. . But it's may be of my lack of skill with the PS3 controller( I rarely play the PS3 if ever).

I loved the character edit (super detailed) and the animation was top-notch. BioWare could learn quite a few stuff by playing the demo.

I think it's a mix of dark souls in the visceral feeling the attacks have and maybe no-pause DA2 in terms of abilities. Basically you have access to basic attacks (which don't use stamina) and a set of six abilities/spells to choose from based on your weapon/class. I hear the climbing mechanics are somewhat similar to shadow of the colossus but I haven't played that before - all I know is that it's pretty amazing. There's nothing quite comparable to clambering over some massive enemy and stabbing it in the face, especially when it's constantly trying to throw you off or fly away.

What relationships are there? I mean, there's your pawn and two pawns (from randoms or friends), but I haven't heard much of the actual storyline/romance sub-plots.. and given what I've seen from the dialogue so far I'm not expecting much in terms of party banter. But yeah, the customisation looks amazing

Not sure what you mean exactly by role playing mechanisms but try watching some of the previews if you're interested. I think the levelling system is kinda based on the traditional job system (where you upgrade certain abilities and perhaps unlock permanent augmentations based on the job/class you're currently in). Inventory-wise, all I've heard is that equipment is relatively more sparse and expensive such that you have to budget quite a bit to get the stuff you want. Not too sure about the loot system but my pawns keep passing me mouldy apples and random herbs etc they pick up. And you do get a few griffon feathers/claws etc after defeating it, so I suppose there might be some sort of crafting system available.

Yeah, the demo wasn't too enlightening. Not sure why they couldn't just give us some of the content we see in the previews. As it is, I've finished that country-side quest more times than I care to count and mastered the art of griffon hunting if there's such a thing.

The difficulty of the game sounds promising in that while certain areas are easier, night-time/shadowy forests are meant to be really dangerous (and rather.. exciting given the reduced lighting/zombies marching out of the dark). I think the character we get in the demo is of the strider class which somewhat specialises in climbing enemies. That and the possibility they buffed our characters up quite a bit should mean that the other classes in the actual game are likely have a bit of increased difficulty and be much more likely to get thrown off bosses.

I didn't find any problems in terms of blurriness and the graphics were more than respectable imo.

Overall I'm looking forward to it and think I need to set a pre-order

Thanks for the info. Keep in mind, the demo is apparently a year old build, and neither difficulty or overall lack of polish represents the product in May.

I've had the ps1, ps2, and ps3, so I am pretty well versed with the dual shock controller, and that camera pissed me off as well. Hopefully you can tune it in the final build.

I hope so! From looking at some videos on YouTube, the visuals look pretty bad. I'm not a graphics ****, but I hope we can get some shinier graphics. The demo is really opposite of what Elton has been posting as screen shots.

A friend of mine sent me a pic of musculature maxed out on a female character. Well, there's options for the body, torso, and legs. It looks freakish at max, but I can work with it. At least there seems to be a lot of variety with the character creator.

Oh well switched out GoT's for DD. It was it, Witcher 2, or some titles coming out late this year, like Aliens, Starcraft 2 heart of the Swarm, couple others I might want. So hopefully DD will be worth the cash.

You were actually going to buy the Game of Thrones rpg?

To start with yes, but I had some reservations being its based on other media, most of those turn to crap. Fixed protagonist doesn't bother me. I changed it to DD over some of the trailers, the demo didn't do much for me. So I still hold some worry over it that it will be a mediocre title. Which I will NOT be happy spending 60 bucks for. Course if its crap I can resell it, use it to buy or least pay towards heart of the Swarm.

Why not just rend first? Its what I do as a standard. Never buy before I try, been burned too many times.

Well thanks to the red box, netflex and the like there are no rental places around here. And I don't trust using my bank card for rentals via gamefly. So yeah I'm stuck with either buying full price or waiting for a game used on the cheap.

Thinking of getting an xbox... can you install games to an external drive, or only saves?. Curious, 'cause I'd get the 4 gig model.
