Since the game is coming out for console and next year around march I won't be around to play it, I guess at least I got time to see people's impressions and if the whole pawn thing sharing holds out.

I mean the voice acting isn't Oblivion bad, but It was a little bit of a letdown not hearing at least one really good voice like John Dimaggio, Claudia Black, or Simon Templeman. I don't think anyone should hype over the storyline because it doesn't sound deep, but the monsters look awesome especially the freaking lion/chimera. I just hope the companions are well written because that and the Landsmeet pretty much saved Origin's cliche story IMO. I also agree that Capcom better give this game some love. They really know how to wreak titles, though, so I'm kind of scared seeing where they take this ARPG because I'm pretty hyped.
Say what!? I didn't realize the link had a video and I just watched it
Karen Strassman - She's awesome and speaks French so that french accent of hers is authentic. She was that one lady putting something in her cleavage.
David Lodge? - Sounded like the dragon at the end was being voice by David Lodge, kind of hard to tell with the voice effect they put over it. Would be cool if it is him and I'd say he's a pretty huge name in voice acting.
Travis Willingham - He voices the dude bowing to the arisen, which apparently what your character is referred to. This guy, this guy is really good and can do straight laced stuff really well, I'd dare say his voice is good enough for stage acting.
John Dimaggio? I remember when Gears of War first came out and there were a lot of people complaining that they got the voice of a character from a cartoon to do Marcus Fenix. What happened? Did the few that didn't like it just shut up or since Gears got so huge they just jumped on the John Dimaggio lovers' band wagon?
I don't really care, it's just funny that ever since Marcus Fenix he gets all this love I hadn't seen before. I've liked him since I first heard him as Bender, so...

It's a JRPG in the fact that it's being developed by a Japanese company but it seems to have more in common with a WRPG. The fighting isn't turn based. Even the art style looks more western than eastern.
they takes your moneys and you takes your chances.
Isn't that true of all video games? I mean Homefront was so hyped up and look at it. Or Duke Nukem Forever.

Maybe it was the quality, but they didn't sound all that emotional. I mean it really depends on the company because for some reason Bethesda hires big named actors (who I think would be great voice actors), but they all totally sound wooden and crappy (i.e. Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart, and Sean Bean).
I hate those fanboys that give John Dimaggio such a hard time. He is one of the best voice actors I've ever seen. I mean going from Bender/Smiling Jack to an outstanding Joker in "Under the Red Hood" sound hard enough. What happened, though, is that they heard his voice. He has the best range in the business, way better than Jennifer Hale. He is underrated just because of his Bender, but I mean a lot of voice actors have different characters. Look at Phil Lamarr he is a Mad T.V. actor, but his voice acting is outstanding. Well, one thing is for sure, though, is the fact that I have not seen a single game that has topped VtM: B's voice acting--best list of actors and delivery ever.

Looking at that list:
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn: One of THE sexiest voices in voice acting. I know her as much more, but lots love her as Major Motoko Kusanagi in GiTS:SAC.
Debi Mae West: Also sports another of the voices I consider very sexy in voice acting. Most notably: Meryl Silverburgh in MGS4.
Steve Blum is always awesome and is good enough to make me consider buying a game I otherwise wouldn't just because he voices a prominent character. Bulletstorm was one such game.
Grey DeLisle: Elizebet, NGII; Lilia, Arc The Lad: Twilight of the Spirits; Mystique, X-Men Legends II; Oyuki, Afro Samurai; Milla Bachtein, Star Ocean: The Last Hope; Amanda, MGS: Peace Walker; Catwoman, Arkham City... Yeah, she gets my love. Her voice is so sexy and I can hardly tell one role of hers from the next.
Courtenay Taylor: I thought she did some anime, but apparently I got her mixed up with someone else. Anyway, apparently I first heard her as Juhani in KOTOR and I like her work since.
Nika Futterman: What can I say about her? Raging Raven, sexy, Nix, I could hardly tell it was her if I didn't know any better. Mack, Lost Odyssey, people complained about her high pitched voice, but I thought she did a great job and wasn't bothered by her voice at all.
Kathryn Cassida; Apparently all I know her from is Dee Dee in Dexter's Laboratory, don't act like you never watched it when you were a kid.
Michael Gough he's awesome and another of my favorites.
Dee Bradley Baker: I've been a fan of his since even before his role as Klaus in American Dad.
Jim Ward: I remember him when he was in the Super Mario Bros Super Show when I was a kid. Since he started voice acting, I've noticed his voice and he does an excellent job
Phil Lamarr: I hate madtv... But his voice acting is off the charts, great career move. Another former star off that show and I think does good voice acting: Debra Wilson was great as Crying Wolf in MGS4.
Damn, maybe I should consider playing the game for the voice cast alone. I looked it up and the clothing and setting doesn't really appeal to me, but I might be able to make an exception.

We shall see. It's still not certain but something tells me that they Dragon's Dogma will see the PC. Personally, I believe that they should fire whoever decided that Dragon's Dogma should only be for consoles. Capcom - for me anyway - seems like they only care about money, so if they release this game on the PC, that means more money.
In any case, more news:
Link.
Mages can cast a spell which allows them to levitate. In conclusion, this means you can reach any location in the world. As shown in one image, some treasures can only be found by using this ability. If you're another class, you can ask companions to lift you up if you want to climb over a high wall.
Oh and harpies:
And a dragon:
Personally, I'm looking forward to this game. My only concerns are how the companions keep repeating the same lines in combat (hopefully Capcom reduces this or allows us to turn it off) and also how the world seems to lack variety. So far, we've only seen a few plains and mountains. One picture showed some dark forest and I'm hoping there's more of these type of fantasy enviroments in the game.
The dark forest:
Oh and pure awesomness here:
I can imagine how dragon fights are going to be, if they actually fly off and you grab them.

Anyway, that's just me. Once I found out there indeed is character creation and male or female, I was sold. That was my only concern after the E3 announcement.

Anyway, that's just me. Once I found out there indeed is character creation and male or female, I was sold. That was my only concern after the E3 announcement.
The banter isn't like this:
"Aha! Taste my steel foul goblin!"
or:
"Thou thinkest thee can oppose me'est? Thou thinkest wrong! Now tasteth my wrath thou oggoling popuotist dragon!"
The "banter" is where your companions keep alerting you to obvious dangers:
"Ah! A goblin pack!" Repeated twice in this case.
This is followed by your other companions repeating the same dialogue straight away afterwards.
NWN, Dragon Age: Origins and War in The North prove that combat banter can be a variety and that it can be said at appropriate times so that it doesn't become repetitive. In Dragon's Dogma, your companions never shut up. Once you've engaged the enemy, your companions shouldn't keep telling you about every action they are pulling:
"Arisen! I am striking the enemy with my sword! Argh! The enemy evades me! I now activate my ability..."
"Their kind hates ice and fire both!"
I can already see comics behind made of Arisen killing him/herself while his/her companions remark about what they are doing.
"Arisen! I'm in the loo! It is a battle but it comes...oh yes! It is done Arisen! I now grab the paper to wipe.....oh, what's this!!?? It seems I hate ice and fire both!"
God forbid the romance plot!
"Arisen! I am grabing you by the breasts. I am not on the offensive right now. Right. My passiveness is deactivated. I shall decend towards the
This preview of the game was rather positive in the combat and atmosphere but noted the companions for their poor AI and habit of repeating dialogue stating that they only became useful during the boss fight.

The earlier previews when I first heard of the game never mentioned a character creator or much less the ability to play a female character.
Guess I will be looking out for this game then.
It's as bad as these children I saw refusing to play Portal because the main character is a girl.

What's so bad and childish about having a preference? If she/he wants to play as a girl character and only buys games that interest her preference, I really see no problem in that.

It's completely about preference, but if a guy said he wasn't going to play the next Bioware game because it has a set female protagonist, what do you think the general response to that statement would be?Eski.Moe wrote...

That wasn't the only reason. Even if they had mentioned at E3 about the character customization, the images and things I saw at the time didn't impress me. So, I was trying to look for something else to grab my attention because at the same time, I thought it could be good, but wasn't sure.
And if you must know, it's just easier for me to try a new game if I can play a female character. And this could be due to any number or factors, of which it sounds like you assume the worst.

Doesn't sound any different from Tales of Vesperia or Tales of the Abyss. I'd still prefer it over nothing at all.
I just read the preview, and it sounds like that's not supposed to happen, I'm willing to bet that the intention is for the first character to spot them is supposed to say something. It's probably a glitch or maybe the code is unfinished.
It's a preview, are they ever indicative of the final product?

I'm glad Risen is coming to the PS3. I hear its like the Gothic series. I've been meaning to try them, but they are extremely long (or so I hear). Not really interested in ME, but I hope that Dragon's Dogma comes out before Fall of next year. I don't really want to wait too long to try out this unique looking game. I just wish that Capcom gave us a set date.
