I'm sure all the nay sayers will change their tune when the reviews come out and they're all positive. ^^

"Quests all start and end in various ways. Sometimes they’ll begin when you talk to a resident, sometimes they’ll start without you having to do anything. There are quests posted up on the notice board of the local pub , just as there are quests that you are entrusted with by the duke. You might even end up going on a date with one of the residents you have grown close to."

Capcom may have questionable practices but I guess they weren't lying about that 300 hours of content. This guy hasn't even done that many main quests from what I've seen and he's only LV 37 with LV199 being the cap.
DD looks set to be one of the biggest games for a decade. God knows how exactly this guy got 77 hours from the game with only 48 quests complete and 10% of the map explored but it must be very big, addicting and fun.
And to think I had doubts because of the one save per account and silly menu music. This is GOTY plain and simple. Great combat, story looks great, environments look wonderful, boss battles are amazing and the RPG elements are heavy.

I don't think I'll really be able to decide whether or not I will buy it until I see more actual dialogue instead of the battle comments in the demo. Also, I'm big on story.. and, from what I can tell, the story does not seem to be the most fleshed out or thought provoking -- but we'll see!
On a side note, who is this guy and is he working on a review for the game? Why does he have it so early? I'm really glad to know the game is worth the price in hours of game time. That's part of what charmed me with Skyrim.

Well I think most of that was spent in the Character Creator.

Elton John, always handy with the links! Will definitely be checking this out. I got put off by the DD demo a week or two back... and didn't really find it to be enjoyable. It sounds funny.. but I kind of prefer NPCs to already be "set" -- by this, I'm referring to my Pawn. I like them set, because I like knowing that the developers meant for THIS to be my companion, with this look, voice, clothing, animation, etc.

I like set companions too but we've got so many RPG's there that have set companions so it's refreshing to create your own companion like you would your main character and then choose their class and customize them to suit your playing style. You've still got the two side pawns who are created within the game or by other players. On another note I heard that player created pawns will actually freely roam you world along with computer created pawns.
As for the story:

The story of the hero going after the dragon for revenge seems simple and generic enough but you have the question of why does the dragon - who is clearly intelligent attack the land and then you have the questions of who are the pawns? You also have the question of why the dragon has taken the hero's heart. Then we have a Duke to deal with along with a cult called Salvation who worship the dragon and think that humanity's kingdoms need to be destroyed from time to time.

I'm also really digging the pawn system and didn't realize how fleshed out and innovative it is. The demo gave me the impression that when I approach the swirling rocks, two random NPCs come out.. but that's obviously not the case once we get the full game.
The only thing that's really holding me back now is the story, and whether or not there even is one to speak of... and the quality of it. I do get that it's Capcom, so I'm not expecting something really epic.. but there hasn't been much word on the game's story, other than "You are Arisen"

Near as I can tell the entirety of the main story is (spoiler warning, for what its worth):
It sounds like the fun of the game isn't the main story so much as other neat stuff you distract yourself with on the way. Which isn't too disimilar from what I enjoy most about Elder Scroll games. Except with a better companion system.

I think there's a good chance for a PC port, but if GFWL is a requirement I'll just stick with the PS3 version. :/

I found the ranged combat to be a little awkward on the demo. But maybe I didnt give it enough of a chance. Would certainly be easier on a PC.
But as mentioned, we'd probably get stuck with GFWL.

Never bought a Capcom game for PC. Does Capcom like GWFL?

Just one cut scene and the dialogue in the scene afterwards. The player skipped dialogue with NPC's though. So story is part of the game but whether it's going to be any good or not is another story no pun intended.

I'm already stuck with GFWL through SSF4. I don't like it, but the service has never stopped me from buying a game. As long as I can play offline, that's what matters to me.
It has for me. GTA 4, Fallout 3 and Arkham Aslyum have yet to try Arkham City so I can't comment. I've lost saves, sudden COTD, online disconnects and login issues.

I'd the same issue, it felt a bit clunky and awkward.
Does anyone know if your created character in the demo carries over into the full game? I spent ages on mine and don't know if I could be bothered going through it again.
The demo was ok, combat wasn't brilliant but passable, from what I've seen of the story in videos and the demo it seems a bit meh. But the exploration and the whole thing about night actually being dangerous sound awesome.
