I know that when I first took
shots of my pawn like this I thought the same - his cheeks looked puffed
out, I thought maybe I'd fudged something in the CC, but after I
checked, he was the same as he's always been. It's just the angle.

I have another shot of her...

...and it's almost 7:00. Still regret nothing.

Angles!! ^_^  Screenshot taking can be addictively fun though!  I almost don't want to work else thats a lot more hours that disappear.

Like the second shot as well, you have a knack for this :wizard:

Still wouldn't regret it either :D

AWESOME!! FYI You will be getting my Arisen, Dai, and not my usual pawn, Arya  Arya is currently busy posing as Arisen so she can DF some girly gear (delta guard, etc.).

This made me laugh harder than it should have

Reminds me of how determined I am when it comes to in-game romance. I read up on all the guides... in fact I even came to this thread originally b/c I had a romance question. (And I believe Carcharoth gave me my first Arisen's Bond! because I screwed up Witch Hunt and REFUSED to do Duchess in Distress, knowing what it would lead to).

How many times have I picked up and tossed or punched Quina and Selene in the face? =] Pretty sure Madeleine has gotten a few punches to the jaw as well.

Needless to say, I've never been disappointed :wizard: Except for that time I romanced Ser Max, who turned out to be a masive dud. Actually, he is technically Rohan's current LI, but Rohan just avoids him doesn't go home anymore. Plus Valmiro, who was his LI from the previous playthrough, is still at 100% and does the chimy blushy thing when they talk. Voila, pretend boyfriend.

If the game were better, story-wise, I'd replay a third time and romance Ser Mercedes cause actually she's more Rohan's type. The pretend Rohan that I've constructed in my head, that is, not the shell of a man the game actually presents to us.

Rohan raises an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. ;)

Did you get your revenant wail? (It must have been from Carcharoth, I haven't been getting anything done in game) I'm guessing from the lack of excited posts you either got your 45th darkening storm or you haven't purified it yet.

Good lord, I never got a good look at Lady Chase until now. She's pretty much just Chase with boobs. Coldi, is she the same CC numbers as Chase? They may actually meet in the future.

And one more headshot I forgot to post yesterday...

Lady Chase looks a lot better in black. And DLC armor for some reason. Everything else that ain't Bitterblack doesn't make her look nice while being good in defense.

Too much muscles on her, that's the main problem. The makeup is another one, but I can get around it by adding dragon glasses to her eyes.

Yeah havent done the final mission yet but am aware of this.  Hard not to miss :P

Anyway I have high affinity with three female characters only.  Since I just saved the Duchess I know its not her, Im fairly certain Selene is the second and she still in the fishing village. So Im assuming the final one must be Madeline, since I helped her flee prior to Deny Salvation.
Guess I will find out soon enough  :wizard:   Knowing my luck in this game Fournival turns up anyway ^_^

Actually, lets give the game some credit. Do you want to know why we even had a 'true' love taken from us by the Dragon? So we could have  a 'save the princess scene.'

Grigori is a classic dragon, down to the T. He'll sit on a mountain, snatch you people up, trying to eat them, so hide yo kids, hide yo wife. Joking aside, I can respect what Grigori was meant to be. The epic dragon fight written in a classic old-school way. And he was, except for that small problem in the affinity system.

Honestly,  I could go on forever how the themes of the story intereact with gameplay: Pawn Logic as I call it, is kinda fun to explain, because it has levels.

Here's Pawn Logic Level 1: Absorbing Information
The reason why Pawns always pick things up, question every single thing, and debating religion? (I'm not joking on the last one.) It's because they are kinda like children, with loyalty and a wide innocence acceptance. A high functioning adult I guess you could say.

The Pawns are so awesomely intergrated into the story, it's almost surprising that it worked. Everything about the Pawns behavoir can be explained with Pawn Logic. But Pawn Logic also has a different, more spoiler filled level, which creates the coolest explanation ever for respawning enemies.

I got Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen at Christmas after getting a PS3 a couple of months back, just got around to starting to play it. I've not gotten far yet, only just finished the fight with the hydra at the encampment, but I'm having loads of fun with this game.

Not got a lot of good screenshots yet, but still. Just got to remember how to post images on BSN.

Posted Image
I didn't expect to start my journey to the encampment by stabbing a Cyclops in the crotch, but I did.

Posted Image
My Arisen, called Aurelio. Normally my first PC in an RPG will be a pasty white guy with shoulder-length brown hair and a goatee. I decided to rock a handlebar mustache instead. Still stuck with my tradition of sword and board warrior though.

Posted Image
My main pawn, Laniel Korin, a mage to aid my fighter.

Posted Image
Group shot, such as it is.

Now off for some sleep.

Wait... you have Dark Arisen for PS3? So do I! If you want, I can use your pawn, if you would like? My PSN is NUMBAH21. Or you could use mine. If you friend me, it's free.

Also finally. You better post more screenshots, this thread runs on them.

If Capcom hadn't (initially) made it incredibly easy to end up rescuing Princess Asalam or Lady Caxton, I'd agree. ;)

Here's Pawn Logic Level 1: Absorbing Information

They don't absorb info very well. Shinon, despite full knowledge of all enemies, still routinely shouts "How do we fight such a thing?" He also apparently still doesn't know that wyrms use ice attacks, or perhaps even what ice is.

Oh, and someone better tell him which one it is - castle walls or the ruins of such, because I swear I will crack him upside the head if he asks one more time.

And welcome, Big Evil! Always good to see new posters. And yes, we do like our screenies here.

I've gotten Madeleine three times. Posted Image

Even when I've tried to lower her affinity, and focus on someone else, I still get Madeleine. Apparently it's just meant to be. And as Carcharoth says (and I'm totally generalizing), it's not so bad to have a cute wifey pooh that sells women's thongs.

My first mistake was in my original game, when I decided that I wanted to make everyone my bff. Then in subsequent runs, I couldn't remember exactly who that was. I think one might have been a random guard somewhere. Another might have been a bandit. I have no idea.

I am in LOVE with Lyncean Site!

Only have a few so far (I was trying to level up Chase one last time as a Fighter, so his HP would be over 4000+ finally), but this may be the greatest find evaaaar. Posted Image Thank you Shepen!

@eluvanix and @happy - yes, it is true. Any hotter and those pixels will melt. Posted ImagePosted Image

I did notice though, that the last time I tweaked Chase I may have done something weird with his mouth. May have to try and look at a few before and after shots to see if I can "adjust". Here is the latest example:

Posted Image

And Carcharoth is looking mighty fine himself....*wolf whistle*
Posted Image

.....and who taught Car how to ride? Hmmm?
Posted Image

@Shepenwepet - Female Chase IS nearly the same as Male Chase....since you have M!Chase's sliders, you should be able to duplicate fairly easily. ;) I think her lips are different, and she has a bit more narrow of a face. But everything else, is basically the same.

@Apophis4321 - So it was my intent to buy Dark Arisen for the PS3 this weekend, but we got a snow storm, and I am now house bound. However, I am going to do a few turns with her, just fighting the Ur-Dragon (offline). I should be able to level her up a bit, and then reconnect to the Internet, and update the Rift. Do you still want her as a Mage? She was always good as a Sorcerer (much more powerful), so let me know. I am also more than happy to switch her to Ranger (which is a great vocation for pawns to have, when going to BBI).

Thanks for the welcomes, and if anyone wants to use my pawn (she's only level 16 though), my PSN thing is LordDrakkon, the pawn's name is Laniel Korin.

So I headed back to the starting village (terrible with names, always takes me a while to pick them up in a new game) and learned that Quina had gone to the Witchwoods looking for a cure. Decided to go find her before going to Gran Soren. Took a couple of screenshots on the way, think they're a bit clearer.

Posted Image
Aurelio, looking fairly grim.

Posted Image
Laniel, looking mildly concerned. With her mismatched green eyes, and the ear of one of the pawns I hired, called Sakura. The other pawn always seemed to run away from screenshots.

In the Witchwoods we fought phantasms, loads of wolves (shortly before reaching the actual woods we got jumped by about twelve wolves all at once, that fight was close), and met Selene.

Posted Image
And I learned that Laniel is not amused by the game peekaboo.

Then it was off to the capital, the small group of soldiers bravely fighting their way through bandits, goblins, harpies, and bloody great big rocks. I only got picked up by a harpy once, which is an improvement over playing the prologue.

Posted Image
The weary travellers arive at the capital, and Sakura invades Aurelio's personal space. Creepy, blue-haired, half-pint.:?

After checking out the Pawn's Guild, going off and getting ganked by an Orge and an endless assault of skeletons, and recruiting a couple of new pawns closer to my level, I also got Auriel a swanky new helmet.
Posted Image

Now off to help Barnaby. I hope I'm not slaying rats in the basement.

@BigEvil - very nice Arisen and Pawn. I play primarily on the Xbox, but I do have the original game on the PS3. Which means, you are welcome to rent her (lvl 116, I believe and set as a mage). I have promised the other PS3 player we have, that I would level her up a bit, and update her in the rift. Since I don't have Dark Arisen for the PS3 (only on my Xbox), I am limited on the better gear. I also may not be able to rent your pawn in return (however, you are still able to rent my pawn for free).

As for the Xbox (which is what I am currently playing), CURSES! That damn "Share" button. And the few times I have gotten it to play nice, the pawns have moved too close to me, when I go into Lyncean Sight they disappear. :P Lil' bastarts.

On Friday nights it usually starts working for me around two hours from now. I'm not going to even bother trying until then.

As for pawns disappearing, yeah, it sucks. And when they're too far away you get creepy expressionless, eyes-gouged-out faces.

Pawns not in your party that are just knocking about in Gran Soren are a lot easier to get shots of, you can aim your arrow just to the side of them, they won't fade. You can get them a lot closer up, too.
