The easiest way to get pictures of pawns is to find them roaming in Gransys. They don't fade when you're close, even if you jam your arrow right in their brains. They don't work well with your actual pawns though. I tried for a long while to get a shot of Shinon and Gabs similar to this but as soon as I turned away, Gabs would fade. If I got up close, Shinon would fade. Trying to get that pose with two hired pawns that won't stand still is pretty much impossible.

Oh, I think I finally understand what you guys are referring to, using certain abilities to give you a zoomed in way of looking at your pawns. I wasn't following that, at first!

Funny thing, I tried deliberately getting a screencap of Ariana yesterday, and I gave up after about 5 minutes, because getting her to stand still long enough to get a good angle was basically impossible. I know that for those action shots on the previous page, I used the in game "screenshot" feature to freeze the action, and give me the freedom of camera movement to fine-tune lining up the picture, and then I just created a bitmap image using my PVR, instead of the in-game system. I sort of used the game snapshot system to cheat the angle, but use actual capture software for the image. I may try a variation of that again, to try and get a shot of Ariana. If it works, I'll try it with whoever's pawns I have on me. :)

Talking to a pawn or picking them up and putting them down results in them staying in one spot for a few seconds, other than that, they'll constantly get out of the camera's way. If you stand in one spot with all your pawns and start rotating the camera, pawns instantly become cameraphobes.

Here's an old post with a few tips for screenshots. I can't go back to not using the zooming skills though. They make everything so much better. Well, except for combat. Combat kinda sucks when you're not actually paying much attention.

HAPPY BELATED 300TH PAGE! Or...wuteva. :wizard:

@Elton :pinched: crap....@Eternal - Here is hoping we read/hear some news soon. I am with you; really had hopes that they would do more expansions (at least one more). But, I will HAPPILY take a new full game! :D The buggers just need to make a blasted announcement though. Gah!

@Shepen - Ohhh you and giving me my new crack. I am completely addicted to Lyncean/Comet. Curses. When I play with Ari (since I was just on that very drawn out time period of her as a warrior <_< ), all of the pics I was snapping seemed dull and lifeless. But...switched Ari back to Assassin for a bit, and *horns a-blowin'*, I went up in vocation and snagged me Lyncean Sight! ;)

@Jeremiah - took your Ariana for a short spin last night, under my Ulee/Chase playthrough. We actually romped around the Everfall for a bit. I didn't actually mean to, but while exploring the walls of Gran Soren (post-dragon, of course), I made a jump to another wall, thaaaaaaat apparently wasn't a wall I could jump to. Needless to say, it sent me floating into the Everfall, so I figured what the hell. ;) I did gift her some things, though you really did a good job giving her the Princess Leia look from Return of the Jedi. :D There is an "updo" that came with the new CC additions with Dark Arisen, that is "kinda/sorta" Leia like, from Jabba's House of Hedonism. heh!

@Curious - I have seen Seel do that Sorcerer Bop, before. ;) Castor does it as well, as a Sorcerer. Never paid attention if Chase does. Hmm.

I ended up leaving her face and hair the same, after I discovered the existence of the Flame Skirt, so it's more that she's dressed as Leia. I should go back to the Barber Shop and look at what's there, I haven't in ages.

I actually have the game open right now. I'm not playing, I just opened it to check on the names of a few skills (I've been using the same build for ages, so I forget all the names of the different skills and what they do) but I'm going to find an inn and update with the servers! ;D

This was just a quick test:

Spoiler

So the idea is that you stand near your pawn with your MC, and then just pause the game, select "Share" to gain control of the camera, and then press "X" (or PS 3 equivalent, Square, I think) to hide your MC. At that point, the camera can spin 360, and everything is paused, so your pawn isn't going to walk off on you.

It still takes a bit of trickery to get the initial positions right, but once you're there, you can take your time with the camera to get the angle right.

You can also "cheat" closeups by doing it next to a wall, or counter, and then moving the camera to the wall or counter's position. This will bump the camera forward, giving you more of a closeup.

I still haven't tried doing it with a zoom power, but I will test that out soon. :)

Yup! That is the general gist. Both Lyncean Sight (under the Assassin skill tree), and Comet Shot (Ranger), automatically zooms you in. Getting great action shots with them, are not difficult, since you can usually step back a little from the engaged fighting, and use the skill. Aiming slightly away from the subject matter that you are most interested in, is the best way to get good shots. Just remember to hit the "Pause" button while engaged in the "zoom" effect. Then hit the "share" button, and you can still swivel the camera around to see what shots are available to you. And again, you can hit the X button, to hide your character.

You can get some seriously detailed, sharp/crisp images with those two skills, but it does take some trial and error. One place I like using for random pawn shots, is in the starting docks for BBI (before entering the labyrinth). I will usually run forward a bit, quickly use Lyncean Sight, and hit the pause button as soon as the zoom action is fully triggered. I generally just aim at the floor, since I don't need anything precise. Then I press the Share button, hit X, and start swiveling the camera around (a full 360), and see if any of the pawns/characters are in the shot. If the pawns got to close to me, they will not be visible, or will be like a ghostly image. If they are too far, then their eyes look like little black holes. LOL! seriously creepy. I just do that a few times, till I get something like this:

Just started digging into this game after picking it up on PS+ a while back. Having a lot of fun, even if I don't know what to do half the time from having so many quests in my log. I really like the idea of Mystic Knight, though apparently they aren't very good unless you level up other classes first?

Well, if anyone wants a lvl 20+ mage pawn add me to your friends! Also, if anyone would be so kind as to tell me what Rozalin's inclinations are, I'm trying to make her Medicant and Challenger, although I have a feeling she might be Acquisitor right now, she does enjoy collecting things, lol.

@Azner - Will add you to my friend list on the PSN. Most of us play on the 360, but I also have the game for the PS3. ;) I have a female elf pawn named Chase (the male version in Shepenwepet's screenshots, is my male version, for the Xbox...also have another alt account for the Xbox with a pawn named Castor.).

And welcome to the thread!! :)

BTW, I spotted a rare sight indeed this evening.....the ever elusive (and sorely missed ;) ), @happy_daiz. :D Grabbed Gabs as soon as I was able, in celebration. :)

I'm not sure of others' experience, but I found trying to adjust a pawn's traits using those chairs to be maddening.

You're a bit early, so it might be expensive, not sure, but the strange old fellow in the tent, in the Pawn's camp right near Cassardis, he sells the potions that you're looking for. I actually have a stock of Guardian and Mendicant potions left over from when there was a bug that used to reset your pawn's characteristics. They've fixed it with a patch, and I no longer need the potions. I could easily gift a mendicant one to your mage (EDIT: whoops, I only have the game for Xbox) and I think the "Challenger" potion is probably 500 RC.

My ID and GT are the same, and the pawns of people in your FL don't cost anything, so you could use the high-level pawns of people in here without spending all of your crystals.

Good luck! :)

Greetings @Anzer, welcome to the thread!

If your pawn if planning to stay a mage for a while, then Utilitarian/Challenger/Medicant may be fine.  If she should change vocations then some good inclinations for the future are Scather , Challenger and Mitigator,  (I am not sure what everyone else thinks).  As @Jeremiah said you can buy potions from Jonathan who is at the rift stone at the Encampment, to change pawn inclinations. You buy them with rift crystals.  I have some of Utilitarian/Challenger potions if you want me to gift them.

I have DD:DA on both Xbox and PS.  My pawn on PS is called Rhys and he is around the 27 mark I think! I can send you a FR so I can take Rozalin around Gransys - I am 'thenewschmoo' on both Xbox and PS.  @Coldwetn0se's pawn Fem Chase is a very high level pawn and she's really great and very helpful  :)

@Shep - Finally got to get a better look at those pictures (originally viewed them on my phone). Wunderbar. Yeah......Chase has his "creeper" moments. *shrug*

@Curious - don't worry about Castor...I got him back from him "fail", and he still said, "I've learned of beasts." :D Besides, I finally got him equipped with the Dragon Glaze bow. Even without any upgrading it is better than all the other bows we have. I just feel like a real dolt, since I could have nabbed that damn bow 15 levels ago! :pinched:
Spoiler

Regarding inclinations, just as everyone has said, Jonathan at the encampment sells Inclination potions for Rift Crystals (RC), and just like newschmoo, I am more than happy to gift you some. So long as we are renting your pawn though, you will get plenty of RC's in a short amount of time. ;) If you decide to use the elixirs to change the Inclinations, there are a few things to know. If you simply want to trade positions between your primary and secondary inclinations, just take one elixir of the same name for your secondary, and that will put it into the primary position. If you want to change both, best to start with the Neutralizing Elixir first (which wipes the slate clean), then take the Inclination Elixirs in the order you wish for Primary and Secondary.

Also, just as a side note, some inclinations do NOT mesh well. lol! For example, Guardian + Scather/Challenger/Mitigator/Pioneer, will give you one terribly confused pawn. LOL! Same with Guardian + Nexus. The AI seems to have trouble "prioritizing" with these mixes. More often than not, they will end up running back and forth not really doing anything. Or they will just hover somewhere near your Arisen. My favorite inclinations, that I personally have found the most useful are Scather, Utilitarian, Challenger, Mitigator. The mix of these is generally quite good (well, for an AI that makes you facepalm at times...heh!), and I seem to get the most bang for my buck, so to speak.

Lastly, Inclinations can change due to in-game actions. For example, my male Chase has been spending a lot of "quality time" (lol) with the two new young guns (Castor, my alt, and Shepen's alt, Zihark). Even at such low levels, I still have had my Ulee/Chase team, bring them into BBI. It's can be quite hilarious. :D However, those two low level pawns do "fall" quite a bit during the different fights. So Chase will usually pick them up and bring them to me, to be revived. If he does it too many times (and Capcom-gods only know how many times that is), his secondary Inclination will change to Nexus. If you use the "Help" button, on the directional pad too much, that can also change a pawns inclination to Guardian. These are just a few examples. No big deal though, once you stock up on some of the Inclination Elixirs, if one changes, you can just change it back. ;)

And it should go without saying....these are just my thoughts, and YMMV.

-------------------------

So last night I decided to take on the Forgotten Hall, with Ari and Castor. HA! Here is a written account of the activities...

@Anzer - Picked up Rozalin. Put a few new pieces of armor/weapon; they go well with the main pieces you have her dressed in. ;) It's supposed to be my day off, but I do have some work to do. So I will play with her for a bit, then drop her back into the rift, so you can get the gifts.

Looking at how FemChase was built, in comparison to MaleChase and even baby pawn Castor, it is just worlds apart. If I wasn't such a vocation junkie (meaning, liking to switch things up...hence why I tend to go for more "balanced" builds), she would be fine. I could just make her a dedicated Sorcerer from her current level of 155 to the max level. At least I didn't completely ignore things like HP and Stamina, but still...her base Strength is 344, while Magick is sitting at 552. I suspose if I stuck strictly with Ranger/Warrior till she reaches Infinity, she would be "close" to balance (still more magick heavy). Bah....Needless to say, I just switched her to Ranger for a bit. In the end, I suspect I will just be switching her back and forth between Ranger and Sorcerer. So be it. Heh!

I finally went to a Riftstone.

Spoiler

The only sorceror was Seer, and then I decided to be a little brave and switch up my usual fighter/warrior with a Ranger. It sounded like good advice, since I'll be tackling BBI shortly.

I had a few to choose from, I grabbed Gabrielle, who I've come to realize some of you may recognize (Happy_Daiz' pawn.)

Oh, what was it I meant to ask you guys if you knew... OH YEAH

I always carry three Wyrmking Rings. One for my character (I don't actually switch to the staff very often, but on those occasions that I do, I might as well have the bonus) one for Ariana, and one for the sorceror.

Is there any point to that? Do Pawns benefit from the casting speed bonus? Does one Wyrmking ring apply to the whole party? How do wolves hunt?

Wyrmking's Ring doesn't just apply to staff skills, it's magick skills in general, so Magick Archer and Mystic Knight skills also get a boost.

The character has to be holding the ring in his or her inventory, the rings you're carrying would only benefit your arisen (and the effects don't stack.) You'd have to give one to your pawn for her to reap the benefits. I think you can place one in a support pawn's inventory without having to permanently gift it, but if you can't, the game will warn you.

Oh, and wolves are solitary creatures.

Ah, that's exactly what I do. One in each inventory. And you can safely put it in a support pawn's inventory without gifting it.

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't wasted the effort of acquiring multiple rings!

I even have a backup fourth one, just in case. Well, mostly it's for if I ever want to do a proper speedrun.

If you're using forgeries, they don't work. Only genuine rings give the cast time reduction. The only use for a forgery is to fool Aldous so you can keep the real one.

@coldwetnose @newschmoo : Thanks for the info and taking Rozalin around for a bit, lord knows she could use the experience. Did you get a chance to see what her inclinations were? I'm not sure if there's a way for me to check myself, of course I'm sure there must be, I just don't know where to look haha. Anyway, I didn't get a chance to play at all today, had to work a double shift since someone called out...hopefully tomorrow I can get some quality time in and take Rhys around (I'm thinking Everfall, haven't been there yet), he's only a few levels above me. :)

Anyway, have a great night everyone!
