Is wearing Emissary armor in BBI suicide? It's always been the best looking yellow class armor to me but I feel like almost everything will one shot me.

It would depend on your level, I guess. I wouldn't wear weak armor in BBI when my characters are still double-digits, but after a while their base stats allow them to take a couple whacks. Shinon routinely goes through BBI wearing nothing but fine cassardi hosen and a cursed king's belt. There may be a few revivals here and there, but that's the case even when he's decked out in Oblivion gear.

 

Since my Arisen is a glass cannon, she could be wearing the best gear in the game and still be one-shot by dropkicking elder ogres, so I don't really care what she wears. She's currently in a maiden's petticoat and camisole, thinking that'll salvage her image.

LOL. I routinely feel inadequate when I see other people's HP scores. My Arisen is an Assassin with 3200 HP (at level 200!)

I was already level 200 when I went to Bitterblack for the first time, and despite having dragonforged Everfall gear I got my ass handed to me on a regular basis! It took time and patience, but once I had learned every monster's moveset and tells, I could avoid being hit at all and wear pretty much anything I wanted in Bitterblack. Most of the time I just want to muck around without paying much attention, though... so the health-regen lvl 3 armor is great.

Pshaw, you shouldn't. My assassin Arisen is pretty tough, whereas his sorcerer pawn is kinda wimpy. The exact opposite for my other account. Dai is a tiny little dude who could rival Alynna for glass canon-ness whereas his pawn Arya is a friggin tank. If your character's HP is low it's probably high in something else. Besides, once you're level 200 it's all about the BBI fashion show, don't ya know?!

I'm maxed out but playing on hard so pretty much every boss can get me to 25% from one hit.

 

I think I'm just gonna make another account and just give my pawn the armor. I've been tempted to replay the game as Glenn.

Took Stormheart's pawn into BBI and it was crazy right out the gate. I kill 1 goblin and 2 garm spawn (note there is a gorechimera there) but killed them easily then ran into Death 2 rooms in a row. The best part was the 2 Gorecyclopes vs 2 eliminators tag team match.

 

Stormheart's pawn also saved my pawn plenty of times sitting back and shooting arrows with me.

I been trying to farm BBI like crazy to get my pawn better gear no such luck so far. I totally got trolled by the games cursed items 5 of the same exact armor peices in a row( Cursed Kings Belt lol)

If you don't like the piece you get, you can always godsbane, swap vocations and try again. Each armor drop is a set of three different pieces, which one you get is dependent on vocation. Only in cases like the Blasphemer's/Hellfire Cloaks is the piece the same for all vocations.

You'll also keep getting the same set if you keep gifting BBI cursed stuff away instead of purifying and keeping it.

My infinity save is still missing one piece of armor (although she could have had it if she didn't reeeeeeeally want a second pair of Oblivion gloves) so it can potentially take a long time to get what you want. Most Level 2 armors are available through quests or eventually sold by Barroch, but 3s aren't...

It gets very frustrating. It really does.

@Stormheart - I can take out Sila out this evening, as I am in the latter half of the DD game, so taking on bigger beasties (my Arisen/Pawn aren't high enough in levels to even attempt BBI!)  I haven't had a chance to game for a couple of days (I have been playing nurse to my dog who got bitten).  

 

Re BBI cursed gear, one day I will get something I have never had before and I will jump with joy!

 

@Curious - hope your wrist gets better soon.

Wait what I'm confused could you go into a little more depth about this.

 

Okay, say you pick up a BBI Armor Level 2 and both your Arisen and pawn happen to be rangers when you have Olra purify it. You'll get something from the yellow column of this table. If you don't like the item you get, using the godsbane, killing yourself and reloading allows you to get a different item if you change your vocations to a different "color" before purification. (Red = fighter/warrior, Yellow = strider/ranger, Blue = mage/sorcerer)

 

For example, if you'd gotten trophy boots, according to that table, reloading and switching your vocations to mage/sorcerer would result in an Adept's Robe or a Divine Embrace. Switching to fighter/warrior could result in a bunch of different things. Hope that helps, I'm sometimes rather terrible in explaining things.

 

Did you make your arisen look like Barnaby or is he perpetually following you around?

 

I accepted the Material Witness escort quest, so he's following me around until he dies or I eventually decide to go to Bloodwater Beach. That ain't happening for a while, as I'm in BBI. I think he's still waiting on the dock in Cassardis.

I got the Blackwing Bow on my Assassin so I gift the cursed item to my Magick Archer and end up getting Darkening Storm ugh.... at least I got Devilsbane, Diabolic shield, and Devil's Nail for my pawn but still ugh....

They have a work crew coming back out, so hopefully they get our internet up and running again soon. I live in the Bermuda triangle, for internet connectons. Go a few blocks in any direction, and all dsl, cable and satellites work great.

LOL! I so want to send that to my phone company.

Whelp. I Reinstated my smartphone hotspot, so I can at least use my laptop. But it too, is spotty (like I said....Bermuda Triangle of Internet connections).

If this doesn't get resolved by the end of the week, we are dumping this for Comcast. The cable broadband is better, but I despise that company even more than my phone company!

Ah well, the market for internet connections is limited. So I bite my lip, and trudge on. Will look forward to getting back to DD though. I miss our little miscreants.

If you're trying for them in the Everfall, get the hell out of there and head to the Fortress of Remembrance in BBI, go across the bridge where the Recollections of Another Arisen tablet thing is. There are two chests right by it, one of them spits out Burnished Bracers quite often.

 

If that's the place you're farming, well... hopefully someone here has a spare.
