@Curious - am I correct in assuming Kelly hasn't reached the Ward of Regret yet? I ask as I am in need of a shot only folks on their very first run of BBI can get - the broken riftstone in the Ward of Regret. It's not totally necessary (I can still get a pic of a broken riftstone from elsewhere and just "say" it's the ward) but if you can get it, that'd be peachy. All pawns in the report already are allowed, just hide Kelly.
You are correct... Kelly has not even been in BBI. Kael is curious about it, but Kelly is Super Protective Pawn Guy and says not yet. I'm inclined to agree with him ![]()
But no worries. We will brave it tonight, just for Shinon! And keep Kel out of the picture, right.
I absolutely can! THANK YOU!
I can probably use that Barroch as well, I forget if I have one. You can't pick Barroch up, right? He sort of just... wiggles when you try? I think most "important" NPCs are like that.
There's something I want to ask you to do but it involves editing your arisen, it's a bit of a spoiler. I may have to take matters into my own hands for this one and beat the game. Riftstones stay mended even when BBI resets, that's why I needed that shot.
This installment's getting a bit dark, mostly thanks to a random photo I took in the Ward. It's hard to make a place like that cheery.
Oh, and Seel's front page news down at the ol' Community...
(The front page changes every day at 9:00 PM EST)
ZOMG Front news Seel!!!
That's so awesome! I wonder why. Oh I guess because you guys came and "nice'd" everything I uploaded yesterday?!
Do NOT tell him about this; he'll be preening for ages! If you think his hair changes color a lot now...
And I would be more than happy to edit my Arisen (I assume you mean Kelly's Arisen, Kael... yeah, I know the names are similar, sorry!)... but I'm not post-game yet! I've barely begun the Wyrmhunt Quests. Sorry!
And... I got Keen Sight! YAY.
(Sorry, Gabs!!!
She doesn't really mean it; jealousy rears its head

Oh, right. Brainfart. Never mind! It just occurred to me that what I needed wouldn't be able to be done with NPC Barroch anyway. I will have to concoct one myself in the CC sometime soon. Someone made a good likeness of him on the pawn community, so it's doable.
And looking over my photos I got tonight... I realized I now can't use half of them. I equipped Thomas with a Dragonseye Band but I ended up godsbaning to retry the Living Armor hall, so it reset him to his circlet. Ah, to hell with it. I'll write it in. I need these shots.
I sometimes get shots that I want to write in, but some just don't fit. Like this one.
And this one would have been perfect if Arya and Thomas were switched...
There's not a lot I got tonight that I can share... is anyone else getting a lot of status code 0x89359001 or something like that, or is it just me?

It's not just you. I had to try repeatedly to get the broken Riftstone shots tonight.
And wow, Arya, not an attractive pose there, sister ![]()
I agree; their roles should be switched, but it's kind of cute anyway. Maybe she's just pretending to be scared
Or I'm letting my Thomas-crush get the better of me ![]()
I had a cute shot of Arya and Chase walking through Dustmoon Tower amidst the deer and bunnies and it looked like they were hand-in-hand. It was too dark though so I didn't post it. That was before my keen sight, too.
EDIT: Also wanted to include my sad experience tonight: had three star circlet, coat, bracers, pants, cape, and sylvan bow so decided to seek out the Devil's Grove drake. Killed it (thanks in huge part to Chase and Arya, but really Kelly's not that bad) and... nothing DF'ed. Sheesh.

Keen sight, is that how you guys get all of those lovely action shots of Chase & Castor?
Keen/Lyncean/Eagle Sight is indeed the way to go for screenshots. You activate the skill, making sure you're not directly aiming at what you want to capture, (because the skill blurs and darkens the screen and will make pawns you're looking at disappear) pause the game and hit share.
The camera is aimed outward rather than inward, so you've got a 360-degree view of your surroundings. The downside is you're reduced to a minimal amount of zoom in the share menu instead of what you normally get, so your shot can't really be adjusted that way. The only way to zoom out is to release the aim button in the pause menu and instantly pause again. No matter how quick you are, the camera is quicker, and chances are you'll be zoomed out too far.
You can also use meteor/comet shot, but I find that for me, it zooms too close. I'm just used to Lyncean, I think.
I hope you're all proud of yourselves! Now I'm going to have to play Dark Arisen again! *walks out in a huff*
From the tone of your post, it sounds like you weren't playing for an extended period of time, which I never thought was possible. I couldn't tear myself away from my nightly BBI run if I tried.
Anyway, welcome to the thread, feel free to post your GT or PS-ID, we're always happy to hire new pawns.
Here's something you don't see every day.
Spoiler
This frightens me more than I would've thought it would.
So, tonight's shenanigans. An encounter with Death went well for Dai; he almost got the bastard down to the last bar. It did not go so well for the pawns, who all uniformly perished. "Don't worry; you'll respawn!" he cried with a grin on his face. (And afterward I rehired everyone and sent 'em home with five stars, of course.)
Spent 20 minutes in front of a chest trying to get a long-awaited pressie for Nicholas. I did get it, but as I briefly switched to Seel/Rohan today before going back to Arya/Dai, I'm going to wait a day or so before I send anyone home with gifts.
Now for some bad pics courtesy of my non-ranger Arisen:
I have now packed the England shirt away (I did after the Uruguay match, knew they weren't going to get much further)
If only the FA had hired Harry Redknapp.
Anyway back to DD. I am having trouble capturing shots with Lyncean Sight - pawns just seem to either go fuzzy or they merge!
I need more practice.
As for Death, he is lurking everywhere. The pawns, they try to hide, but he knows they are there!
I have just shelled out over a million RCs to use a particular pawn. She looks really awesome (haven't had a chance to take pics yet but I will). Anyway her owner used Thomas and sent me a level 3 cursed weapon, which was so lovely. Not used to strangers giving me nice things!
I will pay a visit to the pawn community to look at your snaps.
@Curious - I thought that was totally adorable until I realized he's holding her hand with the same hand he scratched his ass with. That's mah boy.
@Newschmoo - What's the name of the pawn? (or the GT, which you can find by going into the "past summons" or "pawns my main pawn knows" menu in the rift.)
Anyone know what the best T3 skilks (Bitter Black Isle gear) are, or if they're worth a *counts* another playthrough? Also, I still have to slay Death. I kept running because all my pawns were carrying loot/gear. And when I found out Death flees, I lost interest. Is it worth slayin' that a_s clown, too?
That was beyond helpful, more than expected, and much appreciated! Goku's not one for strategy, but if there's one thing I learned from killin' a Chocobo Eater: you motha fuqas are smart! And I'll BRB for that strat. if Death keeps up his DiMaggio-like streak of bein' an a_shole! I was't even gon' kill it, but then Death killed my pawn. He crossed lines that couldn't be uncrossed! So, I prepared myself to die, put my huge sword over my shoulder and went nuts. Turns out, he wasn't a fan of bein' beatin' to death wit' a holy-blade (who'd thunk it, huh?).*Lots & lots of knowledge, son!*
Best way to take Death down with an MA, is to take him out in one of the narrow corridor type rooms (Bloodless Stockade is a great example). Carry with you at least 16 Demon Periapts and stack four at a time when encountering Death, be sure to use all your magick addig augments, and equip both Ninefold bolt (upgrade with the ring) and Ricochet. After stacking your four periapts (and while Death is still at a safe distance from you or around a corner - which is even better), start spamming Ricochet. Once he gets in sight, see if you can stun lock him with Ninefold. Again, this may take more than one encounter to take him down, but it is still one of the best ways to kill him. Well....imo. ;)You have probably figured out by now, that Death doesn't regenerate his health, in between encounters. So it doesn't really matter hread.
Wait, you can freeze Death's cheap-a_s?! S.O.B.! I gotta feelin' I did a whole lotta things the hard way. Thanks for the semi-unitentional passin' o' knowledge!freezes Death

Yeah, just keep in mind I've got the level 3 magick bow, gold-starred, magic-boosting augments, and ridiculously high magic offense. He was sorcerer from level 50-100, then from there to 190ish (where I am now) switched between sorcerer and MA.
I see. Stacks on stacks. I started, from Strider, to Mystic Knight, Assassin, then Warrior, stuck wit' Assassin ever since. I've never took notice of the natural stat bumps 'till I noticed my pawn was hittin' things like Kal El on roids, and I rarely ran outta stamina. You know that kinda stuff's gonna be in there, but I've recently come across a great philosophy for RPGs: "See the numbers, taste the killing!"Yeah, just keep in mind I've got the level 3 magick bow, gold-starred, magic-boosting augments, and ridiculously high magic offense. Yep, they pretty much said everything there is to say about that, and I agree with all of it. I don't use skill rings (aside from when I was a magick archer, I'd always have ninefold bolt and explosive volley - it was on one ring, my other ring is always reserved for the ring of dessication, but if you're not a photog like me, that's a waste of a spot that could be used for something better like stat boosters. (I just picked up a ring that boosts magic by 100! Why couldn't my main have gotten that?)
I used to spam ninefold bolt on Death and it would stun him reliably, but he'd always get away before I could do enough damage to kill him. I was a late-comer to the periapt game, but they are ridiculous when you stack four. Stacking four Demons would probably turn Death into mulch with Ninefold Bolt. On my new game, in which my arisen is pretty much locked in assassin, I stack four conquerer's periapts and spam fivefold flurry on his stupid face. I've killed him once so far. He's since returned with a vengeance and refuses to leave my pawns alone. Still won't let go of his bone lantern, though.
I've never frozen Death myself, but my magic-heavy ranger recently froze a hellhound with a tenfold flurry from his Dragon's Glaze.
While godsbaning in Midnight Helix, I came across this interesting creature.
It's an easier shot to get than you might think, especially there. Your pawns will most likely drop down off the bridge to finish off the skeletons and sometimes will teleport back to your location after the fight. Exactly your location. You pretty much become a clown car. Clown arisen.
I wish you could take a snapshot just as you're about to kill yourself because all the pawns turn to face you, and that would be a cute shot, especially if you removed the Arisen so it looked like the pawns are talking to each other. Erm, minus the giant floating dagger in the air, of course.
I too have never managed to freeze Death. When he is in the Bloodless Stockade (especially Pre-Awakened Daimon), the music will sound before he even sees you. This gives you a great opportunity with Ricochet. I immediately stack four Demon Periapts (and I have Acuity, Attunement, Articulacy, and the wyrmking ring equipped), and I spam Ricochet in the general direction of where he is. I can usually get off a ton of shots before he even comes into view. In fact, it isn't entirely uncommon, that he takes too much damage, and vamooses before I have a chance to hit him a few times with Ninefold. I still think Ranger with strength augments and accessories, plus Conqueror Periapts and Blast Arrows, is by far the fastest way to take him down. And yes, I usually go after him as a Ranger, in the Garden of Ignominy. Of course, my base magick on Ulee is only around 450. I am betting @Curious has roughly two hundred points or more on her Arisen (base-wise), in comparison to Ulee.
Could I have gotten lucky with my freezing? Keep in mind I farmed him... I found a way to make him spawn continuously in the Garden, so it was just like boom, boom, boom. Out of all those encounters I managed to freeze him at least once, possibly twice or more. I just remember the pawns running towards him and wailing on him a la the Dark Bishop (though having far less of an effect lol). I have killed him once with both Dai and Rohan, and with Rohan I changed him to MA because I wasn't having any effect as an assassin and I wasn't stacking periapts >.> Dur.
It's funny you should have mentioned your strategy to quickly do in Death in the Bloodless Stockade though because I actually tried to take him out there the other day! Yeah the Ricochet did do a lot of damage (although sometimes I couldn't tell if I was hitting the cyclopes or Death), but the sad thing was, once he showed up finally, he just swept all the pawns out in one slash. I always feel bad when he kills the pawns. I did stay and Ninefold Bolt him until he disappeared, but then I felt like it wasn't worth it because Zi and Gabs bit it so easily lol Poor things (And Arya, too, of course).
I'll have to check Dai's base magic next time I play; it's a real shame you can't make pawns hybrids... just picture a magick archer Seel ![]()
