However if it's true that the only same-sex romances are lesbian ones, I can say right now that I will not be happy about that double standard and will probably skip the game out of retaliation. I've read that a female childhood friend is presented as the main romance option for both male and female Arisen's. Haven't heard much besides that.  Haven't even heard if a female Arisen has male options.

Female arisens definitely seem to have male options. My arisen has gotten the attention of two characters - a male and a female. Both of them make this weird chiming noise when you click on them, and it looks like they are both blushing with a bit of a pink-ish haze around them. The male character has given my character like six items too, while the girl's comments are slightly romantically inclined.

I don't really know how this will progress yet though.

Also, since I'm not playing a male character, I can't tell you if there is male/male romance. I hope someone can shed light on that.

Another female here, can't help. Just curious though, is there a "progression" as you're giving gifts? Do their responses change? I had about 5 foreign knives and dumped them off on Random Soldier #4, and nothing changed. Perhaps Random Soldier #4 was a bad choice.

Also, I was at my brother's house, watching him play. He was running up the river, used a fish/gather spot, and came up with a snakeskin purse. I wanted to punch him. He laughed at me.

Four hours I searched for that thing. He's not even looking for it and practically trips over it.

That's the golden rule of looking things for video games.  You either find it quickly when you're not looking for it, or it takes forever when you're looking for it.

I haven't seen any progression yet when giving gifts. I gave  Valmiro from Cassardis five items and he just says thank you and even though he "blushes" when talking to my character, his conversation seems pretty standard - just like a regular NPC chatting. The girl I've given gifts to though, Selene from the Witchwood, says something about how the Arisen leaves a distinct impression on her and that she is changed by being in their presence. I really think both are romance options in some capacity, I'm just not sure where the game is going with it. The only progression I've gotten is three characters (two girls, one male for the record) blushing and chiming at my Arisen.

Lol, I have to admit after reading your comments on the snakeskin purse from yesterday or the day before, I really didn't want to do that quest in the worry I would end up in the same boat just puttering around the countryside looking for it. ^_^

He was quite far upriver, past the falls. He'd just fought a pile of striped saurians, it was near a slope you could leave the river from. Knowing my luck, the location will be random and it won't be there for me.

also, lol @ the "golden rule", it's true. **minor quest spoiler**

It happened again, I picked up a quest in gran soren to escort fournival's daughter around town, one of the events is a game of hide and seek. seeing as a kid had previously hidden on top of a house in another quest, i looked on the rooftops, then the field, then....everywhere else. Gave up, went to the inn to store my items. There she was.

Just out of curiosity, where is Valmiro? I wondered around Cassardis looking for him after I read that he was a potential romance option, but I didn't see him...

He wanders around quite a bit, from what I can tell. Try the pier, near the end. Or he seems to walk around northeast of the inn - on the path that leads up to the Chief's house and which is near to that destroyed building where you found the moonglow/sunbright flower quest at the beginning of the game.

@ Terrafroming2154 Thank you!!! I'll go look for him :)

Oh, by the way, wasn't someone on here saying that they wanted their Arisen's hair color to be pink? Cause I found a pawn at the encampment that sells exotic hair dyes (and even eyeglasses) in exchange for Rift crystals :D

Here, have another chuckle. Knowing the location of the snakeskin purse, I went looking for it. Guess what. It's in a random location somewhere along the river. I went to the exact spot I saw my brother find it, and there was no gather spot around. I raged a bit and then scoured that part of the river.

Took a tad longer than it should have, but... SUCCESS!

Then I almost got slaughtered by an "ambush quest" skeleton mage who wouldn't come down that I could barely do any damage to. Serves me right for never taking any archers. Thankfully, after ineffectually roasting its robes for about five minutes, it decided to descend and got munched by my tanks.

How is this game? Is the story line any good? Does it keep you entrenched? Are the characters any good? Do they feel like they could be living people?
I was looking at it in stores today and was wondering, if it was worth the buy or not?
Details, please.

@fire

Do not get it for the story, the gem in this game is the combat and freedom/exploration.

I am not that far into the game, but I can safely say none of the characters will stick out, like bioware chars. In fact, you have to keep switching out 2 of your party members because they never level.

You get to pick from a giant pool of characters, for the 2 extra slots, and they are all random, I saw 2 with the same name, diff levels of course, but yeah. Generic voices too, they all share that.

You can fully customize one of your party members (main pawn).

I am like 22 hours in, and barley on main quest number...6 or 7?

Read some reviews on it for sure, and play the demo, but overall, do not go in for the story.

Sadly the story is what get me. So I might not like this. I might rent it and try it later to see if the combact can.
Thank you though.

I think the game is quite a bit of fun - I'm enjoying it a lot anyway. Much more than any game I have purchased recently, in fact.

The story line is... well, hard to say at the moment. I've been playing for about 12 hours and have only had a few narrative moments. Currently, the story seems pretty simple - voiceless nobody from a small town is destined for greatness - but it isn't terrible, just typical. The pacing of the narrative is very languid though, so I just can't say much about the story at the moment.

As for the characters, I don't think they are completely uninteresting, but not as memorable as Bioware characters. There seems to be a core group of characters that are starting to gain some personality in my playthrough though. In a way, I think they are much more interesting that Skyrim NPCs (for example), but they still aren't comprable to Bioware squadmates.

If you are really looking for a story heavy, character-driven game - I don't know if I could recommend this to you. Not yet anyway, since I really haven't progressed far into the story.

But the exploration, the amount of quests, the ambience of the world, and the combat are definitely big draws. I usually get bored with open world games (I tend to prefer story heavy games too), but there is something about this one that I like and that has kept my interest.

"The Encampment", the guy's right next to the riftstone in the tent. You can also buy a "premium ring" for an ungodly amount of rift crystals, which the desription says is merely a way to show off your wealth. I'm curious if anyone would actually buy it.

The premium ring is just for bragging, nothing more :P Just shows that pawn has been rented tons of times.

Which platform do you guys play on? I'd like to hire your pawns ^^

Xbox, gamertag is my bsn name. All pawns I hire (minus that one warrior who did nothing but jump around during fights...he had a giant hammer strapped to his back and was more interested in playing moon bounce) get sent back with a decent gift, like a balmy perfume, and generally a good review.

My pawn's about to max the warrior vocation, might switch him to strider. My usual team is two warrior/fighters and two mages, the other mage takes the healing duties because I'm crud in that department. I'm more about giant tornadoes and ice spirals.

Also, it annoys me that whenever there's a pawn that I like and works well with my class, that it doesn't level up to match the level I'm on. And, unfortunately, that pawn's owner might switch his class/appearance without notice.
I had this mage pawn (named "Will") in my team who could heal all of my character and other pawns that I enjoyed, but he wasn't up to my level so I was like "It's okay. I can re-recruit him to see if he leveled up any."

Good news, he did.

Bad news, the owner switched his class to wizard and took off his healing powers.

Worse news, I didn't realize it until after I finished one of the dungeon quests.
So I faced off what seems like hundreds of mage-skeletons, in a dark dungeon, with no healer. So the whole time I had to manage healing with my mage archer, my main pawn ranger, someone's pawn warrior (who charges into everything), and the "wizard" that I got who was supposed to do the healing for me. Shame on me for not reading his "skills" list first.
I'm not sure whether that's funny or sad... -_-;

Great for Capcom to get into the story action this one I played the demo and loved it and I just got the game and I say I am just amazed at the character design and the ways you can mod them to how you really want to play. The bosses are just epic I do like the grab and the use of objects and the story I say all is that I enjoy the team to actually speak and lead you on at points instead of you taking full 100% leads, I enjoy the game more each time I play it. Thank you CAPCOM.

@TNT1991 I didn't plan on it being nighttime, that's how long it took me to find the purse. Left Gran Soren at the break of dawn, expecting to be back before it got dark. Of course, things are never that easy for me. :pinched:

Anyone here ever do Reynard's escort quest to Greatwall? I seriously wanted to pick him up and lob him off a cliff. I never realized how slow the escort characters are, they don't run
with your party, they act like they're on a casual stroll through the
woods. He disappeared once, I ran back to see where he had gotten to, turns out a harpy had picked him up. None of my pawns commented on it. Perhaps they didn't care. Later, when I neared a bog full - full - of hobgoblins, he saunters right in, walks back and forth aimlessly in the muck, which causes all sorts of lovely debilitations like poison and blindness and silence....hobgoblins hacking at him with their swords....

While pawn AI is generally good, I can't say the same for characters you escort. While it doesn't really cause that many problems, (Reynard was never close to death, I had a very patient healer, lol) the fact that they calmly walk directly into the middle of a huge skirmish and stay there is rather silly. This never happened with Ser Larch or Barnaby, though. They kept themselves out of trouble. But Reynard's a complete idiot.

Planning to do it then, not so now lol. Before accepting the quest, I went ahead and scouted for a safe route. I thought, "hey let's go in Soulflayer Canyon, maybe it's like the Ancient Quarry safe route!" Was I wrong. Then I come out to that bog you mentioned. Everyone gets debilitated, harpies swooping down and hobgoblins throwing dragonspit :pinched: Fortunately hobgoblin also get debilitated so they stop attacking once they step into the bog.

@Shepenwepet I actually skipped the first six or so escort missions simply because I was worried that the AI would be stupid, and they would get themselves killed. I figured it would be better to miss out on the exp instead of letting important...ish characters die. I have since done the three that I can do until I advance the main story and I thought the AI was really good, if you run away they usually do so as well, and they really stick right to my hip which I enjoy because it is a lot easier to keep an eye on them. Oh, and with the snakeskin purse, I actually laughed when I found it because it was not intentional at all. I went to the healing spring because I finally had some empty flask to fill up, and as I was killing deer to see if they dropped pelts or anything, my pawns starting "fishing" and found it. Now, I just have a lot of crows and other annoyingly hard to find things (like golems) to kill until I can move on.

@Wicked_being You should hire my pawn, because I really want that premium ring, because I want to feel important... I believe I am about ummm 120,000 rift crystals off, oh so close. Of course she is kind of lame right now because I just switched her to fighter. She started out as a pure support mage, and me a mystik knight, but after I maxed the vocation for those, I switched it up, so I am about 1/3 done with maxing all the vocations at the moment. My PSN is Nvanz13 (I know I know surprise) if you add me just send me a message and I will gladly customize her to your liking and update her, assuming of course the level fits what you can afford/use.

Additionally, for anybody looking for pawns, and for getting their pawns name out there go to http://www.gamefaqs....2851962?page=12 (If you see my post it is not true anymore, as I stated above haha.)
