Anyone here ever do Reynard's escort quest to Greatwall? I seriously wanted to pick him up and lob him off a cliff. I never realized how slow the escort characters are, they don't run with your party, they act like they're on a casual stroll through the woods. He disappeared once, I ran back to see where he had gotten to, turns out a harpy had picked him up. None of my pawns commented on it. Perhaps they didn't care. Later, when I neared a bog full - full - of hobgoblins, he saunters right in, walks back and forth aimlessly in the muck, which causes all sorts of lovely debilitations like poison and blindness and silence....hobgoblins hacking at him with their swords....
Lol, can't say I've had that happen yet.
I really do feel like I want to give up on Selene's escort quest though. I ended up getting stuck at it during night, and had to deal with about fifteen direwolves, then a cyclops and another ambush of direwolves on top of it. Then, when daylight finally came, I ended up going in the wrong direction and was swarmed by snow harpies and finally killed by some bandits. Selene managed to stay at full health and stuck next to my character the entire time, but the rest of my party just kept getting overwhelmed. I'm trying to steel myself before even trying that one again.

While pawn AI is generally good, I can't say the same for characters you escort. While it doesn't really cause that many problems, (Reynard was never close to death, I had a very patient healer, lol) the fact that they calmly walk directly into the middle of a huge skirmish and stay there is rather silly. This never happened with Ser Larch or Barnaby, though. They kept themselves out of trouble. But Reynard's a complete idiot.
OMG. He was THE worst! I just did his escort today and wanted to chuck him off the cliff sooo many times. Adaro was pretty bad too, but mostly he was too slow. My favorite escorts so far have been Mercedes and Barnaby.

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised haha. Selene's escort quest was the easiest for me, the one to the Healing Spring, right? Mostly because the destination wasn't too far, and all you really have to deal with is wolves and harpies. Just stick to the roads, and run like... the whole time haha. Actually, that's my strategy for every escort mission, especially at night time. Just watch those damn harpies, they have a bad habit of putting her to sleep and picking her up >.< they did that like three times to me. Luckily I was able to catch her twice though lol. Good luck on the escort mission, I'm considering abandoning all my missions to hunt things, I only know where one golem is and going back and forth is not going to be fun

I actually skipped the first six or so escort missions simply because I was worried that the AI would be stupid, and they would get themselves killed. I figured it would be better to miss out on the exp instead of letting important...ish characters die. I have since done the three that I can do until I advance the main story and I thought the AI was really good, if you run away they usually do so as well, and they really stick right to my hip which I enjoy because it is a lot easier to keep an eye on them.
I actually accidentally picked up the escort quest the first time I hit Gran Soren, when I was still quite low in levels. I figured, hey, what the heck, I'll give it a try. Looked pretty far, but they wouldn't stick me with an impossible task, would they?
Yes. Yes they would. If you can't deal with the monsters quickly, which I couldn't back then, Reynard will get stomped, or you will. I was fearful I'd have to fail the quest to proceed, because he wouldn't stop following me. Thankfully you can abandon the quest, and it'll show up later (if not instantly) back on the notice board.
I've done.. I think 4 escort quests so far, and while, yes, most of them at least stick by you and do not actively chase after monsters, Reynard just didn't care about anything. It's not so much the danger that he'll die, it's the fact that he's strutting through a giant wall of fire and having a cyclops fall on him... and he doesn't react. He should at least be trying to hide, or...something.
Oh, and with the snakeskin purse, I actually laughed when I found it because it was not intentional at all.

I want to boost Reynard's affinity for this playthrough and have him in my ending. *squeals*
His favored item is the reminishroom, which I believe is found near Greatwall... or at least on the western side of the map.
I keep all items that say "favored by xxx", I've got like 17 festival pies in storage, yet I've never met this Julian that likes them. Same with Aldous and the ancient scrolls.

The game picks the the person you have the highest affinity with. A person with maximum affinity for you has a pinkish glow/cloud around them when you talk to them. If you're worried about who your romance is, just smack him around some. Madeleine doesn't like me anymore after I did that to her.
@ HoldTheLine
Wait, so Barnaby can be romanced?
Any idea what he favors? I think I remember seeing an item with his name in the details, but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

Over the weekend, I watched my friend get Selene killed by a pack of direwolves and Meredith (and two pawns) get steamrolled off a cliff by a falling boulder. The last one was lulz worthy, though.

The game is awesome but I'm holding out on a PC version for now I'm just borrowing my friends Xbox and game. Really fun though and love the combat, questing could use some work and the dlc notifications are annoying. If you find it somewhere on sale you should totally jump on it.

So, does anyone know what gifts Selene favors? I think she is romanceable (since she chimes at my character), but does she accept gifts? Everytime I try to give her something, she just makes herbal potions for me.
I think Selene was Toadstool Sitters, not sure. I wanted to say Windmill Flower, but I think that's someone else.
Everybody is romanceable, I'm guessing. I loaded up Ser Daerio with tons of crap because one of my pawns said he had a key to a door... and now he chimes. (I've also 'chimed' Ser Larch, Valmiro and Reynard.) But Daerio still hasn't given me a key. Perhaps he's onto me, he knows I'm just using him for his keyring.

Brilliant. I'll screencap my Arisen whacking Reynard with a massive hammer.
Wait, so Barnaby can be romanced?
Could've fooled me... about 8 harspud juices later, no chime. Valmiro caved after 3 beast-steaks.
Funny moment: the armorer in Gran Soren is hateful. He calls me horrible names whenever I enhance my equipment. In the time it takes for me to click on "enhance", his sales pitch is shortened to "they're masterworks all, you can't"... considering what his accent does to the word "can't", it sounds like he's not very impressed with me. You just lost yourself a customer, Caxton.

Yep, Barnaby's romancable, it's just kinda difficult. As it turns out, he really likes fish, which is just a general gift that appeals to all men from Gran Soren for some odd reason

I wouldn't hold your breath for a PC version. The producers of Dragon's Dogma have said it is extremely unlikely we will ever see it for the PC.
