So you're suggesting the Arisen uses the godsbane on them self? :o

How do I actually do that?

Already have. I used it to kill the previous Arisen.

Use it again. It's in your inventory.

Thank you.

Such a shame to kill of the main character but here we go.

You aren't very easy to impress are you?  I take back what I said about Dark Arisen... don't buy it on my recommendation.  I don't want to be responsible if you aren't satisfied with the game and wind up wasting your money.  :P

This is sorta off-topic but since I've been playing the Sims 3 (kinda like creating pawns in DD yea?) and watching Skins, I've been wanting to create my own Sims-Skins fics.

On-topic: new pawn caps coming soon! Also who's totes excited for DD Online? I know it's probably a major cashgrab but the new characters look awesome, and it's one more reason for me to get a PS3 (since they're excluding XBOX!)

New pawn caps?  What does that mean?

And sorry, I won't be playing DD Online at all because my computer is far too primitive for anything like that.  But it looks cool and I hope it turns out well!  I'm kind of curious about the story, but since I won't be playing it, I haven't really bothered to look anything up...  Where does this game even take place?  Gransys or the "mainland" that was mentioned briefly?  Some other place, perhaps?  If that info has been released, I mean...

As for the off-topic bit, Sims 3 was a great game even on Xbox 360... I put a lot of hours into that before finally getting bored with it.  It's been a long time so I might play it some day soon though.

So far Capcom have said they have no plans to release DD Online to the North American market. Capcom has an audience for more Dragons Dogma yet exclude a majority of the fanbase. Until news has been released that the North American fans are no longer being slighted then Capcom can crash and burn for all I care.

Hey. I enjoyed the game. A lot!  :)

I was annoyed that I didn't know what to do, since I was wondering around for an hour scratching my head.

But some nice people pointed out what I had to do. :wizard:

It's an interesting ending. Here's to hoping they make a sequel.

Yeah. Sorry for giving the wrong impression. It's a really good game! There is a lot of depth and customisation and kudos to the game creators for inserting deep philosophy into the ending and avoiding the typical clichéd happily ever after.

What is Dark Arisen about anyway?

I've beaten it three times and have no fcuking clue xDDDD

I'm glad you liked the game!!! It's a personal favorite. My only wish would be for "slightly" more in-depth characters. I'm not expecting BioWare levels of characterization. But I would've preferred to gasp in horror instead of giggle whenever I saw my love interest being chased by goblins

Oh and hire better English VAs, geez!! I used the Japanese voices and they were delightful, but I would like to use the English ones without my ears bleeding.

Wow, it's not even being released in North America? o.O  Did Dragon's Dogma not sell well here or something?

A cursed island suddenly appears off the coast of Cassardis. A creepy woman with amnesia leads you there. Other than that, It's best if you discover it on your own.

I know it didn't sell well on Xbox, and if the Pawn Community is anything to go by, I'd say about 70-80% of players are Japanese.

I for one am not that upset there aren't any plans to release it here, as I really wasn't interested.

You can't get much better than the inspired casting decision of Gideon Emery as the voice of God.

I love the English VAs. (It helps that I speed through most of Reynard's dialogue.)

No such thing as "universal consensus".

I thought the voice acting was all right.

I'm yet to play a game that has truly wowed me in the voice acting department.

Not the best, not the worst. It's functional though.

No need to parse my words :P I mean, those of us in the thread... mostly us regulars. I thought we had joked about it many times. Hell I am pretty sure their voices get made fun of numerous times in Shinon's report

I confess I can't stand any of the English voices. The only exception is one of the female pawn voices. Yes, just one lol Basically Arya's and Gabs' voice (not sure who else). It broke my heart to have to change Arya's voice b/c her original voice sounds AMAZING in Japanese but when I realized how she sounded in English, and that everyone who rented her was hearing this monstrosity escaping from my pawn's poor mouth, I had to change her voice lol

I mean Reynard and Julien are obnoxious in English; their voices turn to sexy butter in Japanese

Oh, I find a lot of them are terrible (Please, shut up, Reynard.) But I love them. They're not really all that poorly done, just... a bit hard on the ears sometimes. The dialogue doesn't really help some of the time.

David Lodge was great, although I didn't really find his voice was a good "Dragon" voice, that might be just me though.

The guy that did Caxton's rather uninterested "They're masterworks all, you c*nt" (That is what he says, really, I never let him finish ever because it's just too great) deserves a medal. Just for that.

Vic Mignogna or whatever his name is, the guy that did Valmiro, he's freaking everywhere now and it's driving me mad. Especially when he isn't saying the word "cos." Nothing bad about his voice work, but, again, he should end every sentence with 'cos'.

Sam Riegel should be living in a solid gold house.

One of the pawn voice sets ("Briana") is Mary-Elisabeth Mcglynn. I adore that woman.  <3

But you've got Adoring Fan as Reynard... no. Please. No. Again, it's not the delivery of the lines. It's the voice itself.

Julien... I don't know what the hell happened there. I actually can't comment because I just do not talk to him anymore. I can barely remember what he sounds like. Which I'm pretty sure is a good thing.

I love how people in gaming circles everywhere cry and moan about the "quality" of the voice acting and continually regard the JP VA's or "Seiyu" as superior to anything remotely English. And don't get me started on how people love to nitpick the "fake" French accents (pro-tip; ever heard a French person speaking English before? They speak English with a heavy French accent). I swear if half of these nitpickers had their way I would be reading the in-game dialog instead of listening to it because it would all be in Japanese with subtitles!

Actually, I thought the English voice acting was fantastic... it's just the lip syncing that they didn't even try to get right, and even that was greatly improved in Dark Arisen.  It's not the first time I've heard people claiming that Japanese VA is hands down better in some game or another, so I'm not really surprised to hear that about DD.  Not that this opinion bothers me or anything... I'm just saying it's a common sentiment regarding games available in both languages.

It's seiyuu, and yes, I think the seiyuu are better than the English voice actors in this game. It's just an opinion; you guys don't need to freak out about it

And you know what? I think the seiyuu are better in pretty much every anime I've ever watched, too. So sue me.

If you'll scroll up you'll notice I didn't attack anyone's opinion. I simply said I hoped they got better English voice actors for the next game.

Take a chiiiill pillll people!

For me, I'll always prefer games in English, quality of the voice acting is never a concern. I would honestly prefer everything voiced by Gilbert Gottfried over a cast speaking a language I don't understand.

Movies, though? Subtitles all the way. I don't have to worry about dying if I miss something onscreen while my eyes flick to the words.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT AND THAT'S GREAT

Now, have this screenshot of Alynna having a truly bad day. I'm off to bed.

Uh... I didn't mean to give off that vibe from my post.  In fact, I even mentioned that this opinion didn't bother me...  All I was really interested in was saying that I liked the English voice actors, nothing more.

Edit: Removed a question about seiyuu since I just noticed the answer in AedanStarfang's post... lol

Golly gee I missed a "u", so crucify me  . Anyway I shoulda clarified that my biggest gripe is people on BSN (namely on the DAI forums) never-ending ranting on about the Orlesian "fake french" accents.

EDIT: On-topic before Biowaremod03 decides to "we are done here" to this topic; Shep how do you manage to get those lovely romantic scenes with your pawns? Is it just luck and good timing?

Well they only sold 92 thousand copies the first week in North America but it has gone on to sell over a million and a half copies worldwide. Those aren't the best sales figures but new people are still picking up the game.

I dont really care about the online mmo type games, Id rather DD2 but at this point Im not getting my hopes up.
