I still hope Dogma Online makes it to US shores, even though it won't see an XBOX release

Similar, I would at the very least like to try it. I don't really have the time for MMOs but I think this I would certainly try to make the time for.

Additionally I really am going to have to consider my choice of console quite hard this gen.

Some new pics

Spoiler

Observations: looks like mages can wear armor now as one of them is seen wearing templar-like tunic (ala Savan), and one of them is wearing either the riveted coat or the trooper outfit underneath his robe. I'm pretty excited for DDO, even though I'll need a PS3 to play it (I was getting one anyway), I'm really intrigued by these 3 characters at the end; the three of them are Arisens I believe, the blond guy who has been seen in the trailers looks pretty important like a commander of some sort, and the woman appear to be part of a dragon-slaying squad or a league of Arisens as they all wear the same armor, cape, sword and shield - some player Arisens were seen wearing the same red armor too. The cute brunette guy with the daggers is obviously a strider and does look sorta like a male version of Madeline.

@Newschmoo, thank you for the dragon knight's helm - Dil is wearing it as I type this :D

The concept art looks amazing. The top screenshot, well it looks kind of empty and barren. The second screenshot however looks really quite detailed.

I really hope this isn't a flop. I need my western version followed by a DD2. (although that wont happen for about half a decade the way things are right now)

I think we can pretty much agree that DD2 will be current or next-gen, no way is Capcom going to put it on 360 unless it goes multi-platform like Inquisition, which is unlikely given the moves they've been making with the SF V and other Capcom-related announcements that were PC/PS4 exclusives.

My take on DDO so far:

  • The main setting is Lestaria (pictured below), whether that is the name of the country or the capital I don't know - but the city is huge sprawl, bigger than Gran Soren. Rift stones have been reshaped into large spire-like structures that standout at the center of the city hub, I assume this is where you converge with other arisens and/or pawns?
  • The brown-haired daggerist guy (male Madeleine) is probably going to be a mix between Mason and Barroch, being that he is also an Arisen but does his own thing and has an agenda...he might also be in it purely for the gold.

Spoiler

  • It seems that the white dragon seen in the screenshots is a benevolent dragon and acts as sort of a "Paarthurnax" to the white dragon crusaders (made up name for the soldiers with the white wyrm emblem).
  • Important quest NPCs/people connected to the white dragon and the shrine are: two knights; probably a captain and sub-captain of the white dragons (one will probably be a traitor ala Julien), the blond arisen-commander, scholar guy, a priestess and a bishop/priest/old man. I'm now wondering if they are connected to or actually are the 'Fayth' mentioned by Quina and the nuns in Dragon's Dogma. It would be odd considering how they superstitiously viewed the wyrm as an harbinger of destruction and an entity of great evil, only to end up paying reverence to one in a shrine.
  • It seems that the white dragon appeared washed up on the shores and somehow convinced the people it was good, it might be a self-aware arisen that is helping new arisens to break the cycle or curse or whatever.

Spoiler

  • Other things look to be appearing like little roadside inns and restops, which might be more common in DDO (ala Oblivion) than they were in DD:DA (see below).
  • The scholar guy is most likely a wyrm scholar, one screenshot (below) has him (and the player character) inside a dungeon or a crypt looking for artifacts or whatever
  • The soldiers in the purple capes and blue/gray armor are like knights for the capital or the White Dragon, while the red-armored warriors are actually arisens out to slay the wyrm, though I don't know if they are working together (edit nevermind, they are connected after all added a screenie of the blond-commander guy talking to the player-Arisen at the White Dragon Shrine).
  • The new Barnaby appears to be a pawn dressed like a priest in purple vestments

Really nice round up :)

I do like the new Rift Stone design. Gives it a more mystical element.  Plus I like spires and obelisks :P

In terms of generic plots, this seems to be fitting the bill judging from what you wrote. Lets hope for a few twists and turns

I wonder if Dragon's Dogma Online has many classes that you can switch between like in the single player game.

The original had 9 interesting classes. So much variety.

Spoiler

Will the online game have as many (if not more, sure why not have more than nine go crazy!) classes?

One thing that would be pretty cool to see (though difficult to implement) is some semblance of finesse and technique.

I'm talking about: footwork, precise blows, absence of telegraphing, blocking, evading, parrying and riposting, small precise animations etc.

That would be pretty awesome. This isn't a big deal. If they don't do it then I'm cool with that.

Helllllllooooo!!

@Aedan - Thanks for posting that info and screenies. ;)

So. Am I reading this stuff correctly that it will be an online (co-op, mmo...???) experience, and only available on the PS4?

Or did Chase clock me by accident with his giant handyman hammer

Damn, I've missed this thread. Still playing DAI, since my husband has commandeered the TV. Last December. <_< Hope you all are good. Great seeing shots from @Shepen, @Curious and @Aedan. Brings a tear to me eye. *sniff*

I will definitely wait for DDO to come out before committing to a new system. I bought a PC for DAI and the whole experience has been a disaster. Not only did it take awhile for me to love the game (thank you mods! Now Solas is my boyfriend) but my PC has been a piece of crap since I bought it this past October. At present I can't even load DAI because it crashes. F U alienware/Dell.

Aww. Sorry to read of your PC woes (can relate, since my husband had bought me a "so-called" gaming PC two and a half years ago, without doing any research. :pinched: At least I didn't have to replace the HD and the case. :D ...... <_< ). I was actually going to ask how your playthrough was going, with that suave egg.

Originally I was going to buy a PS4 for The Order:1886 and (the eventual release of the next Kingdom Hearts game. Thankfully @happydaiz talked me off the ledge, regarding The Order. *phew!* I will eventually get the system, but I'm not pooping silver and gold, so I will probably wait till later this year, or beginning of next year.

Huh. Just realized I didn't pay attention to DDO's release date. Oops.

Any tips? I hear it's difficult.

I'm currently playing as a strider.

Level 62. Is this too low? Should I level up some more before attempting the DLC?

As Curious asked, what is your current level, and what vocations have you maxed out? Strider is a perfectly viable class to use (all the dagger + bow vocations are great for Bitter Black Island). If you are a bit on the lower in level, safest might be Magick Archer, and equipping Sixfold Bolt (upgraded to 10 fold with the right accessory found in BBI), and Ricochet Hunter. The third slot can be used by just about any skill you find useful. I usually go for either Hunter Bolt, Magical Gleam, or Greater Ward Bolt.

With regards to dagger, nothing beats Hundred Kisses (especially if you have grappled on to a big ole beastie, then go wack-a-doodle on their arse. B) ) which can be upgraded with the right accessory from BBI, to Thousand Kisses. Advanced Trigger is always good for the canine and giant lizard types, and Instant Reset can be quite useful (if nothing terribly exciting). A few of us are also quite fond of Immolate. Does help if you have health regenerating gear on, or are at a higher level. But if you are managing your health items, you should be just fine even without those two factors.

These are just a few examples to start.

And like both Captain and Curious said, get a good set of pawns. I prefer Ranger type pawns in BBI, due to how useful the bow is on that island. A good Sorcerer can also be quite useful (set with good damaging/cc spells, and a debuff). Feel free to use either of my two pawns, though I haven't played since fall of last year  . My gamertags are: FlattestFlea726 and coldwetn0se. My first gamertag has a maxed leveled Ranger (?? I "think he is set as a Ranger right now) named Chase. And my coldwetn0se account has a 150+ Sorcerer named Castor. Both have been balance built, for the most part.

Have fun!!! :D

Nah.. I mean, yes  but not really. Just save a lot and make sure you have a liftstone with you so you can run away if you have to (and you will have to).

DOH!! I forgot to ask which console Abraham was on. I also have it on the PS3, again under the account name of coldwetn0se. My pawn on the PS3 is a female version of Chase - also named Chase. (actually, my Xbox pawn named Chase, was a male version of his female counterpart on the PS3, since I owned the game for the PS3 first.) I think she is somewhere around level 150ish, and most likely set up as a Ranger, but may also be set as a Mage/Sorcerer (was trying to beef up some of her magick stats for a while, but can't remember of I reset her back to Ranger/Strider).

Level 62 is doable, so long as you remember a few things.

1) Running away is ALWAYS an option.

2) If you take pawns that are of the same level as you, you will level up quite quickly, but will have a harder time with some (many) of the enemy types. If you don't want to over-level too quickly, consider taking higher level pawns.

3) Don't feel obligated to finish through the whole dungeon, in one shot. Allow yourself the opportunity to head back to Gransys, now and again, if you need a break, or want to max out some vocations (it can be much easier to max vocations in Vanilla Gransys, due to the lower level enemy types there).

4) Pay attention to your Augments set up. They can be some of the most critical parts to the builds you decide to run.

5) And again, like Curious said, keep a couple of liftstones handy, at all times. ;)

6) And finally, feel free to stay away from Death, till later. When you are ready, give us a holler here, for further info regarding him, if and when you are ready. You will face him a few times, but you do not have to engage him. Just as a reminder.

I think I'll gain a few levels as Strider (till I reach level 68) then level up Assassin till I reach level 78 then move back to Magick Archer. Then I'll attempt Dark Arisen.
