Kael and Kelly fought Death today!!!!!!

Not because they wanted to. More because they realized that no matter how many times you back in and out of that final area before Sparyard, Death is always lurking pre-Daimon. Urgh. So at some point it just became a "Well, why the hell not" situation.

Kelly had no idea WTF he was dealing with and fell immediately asleep -every time- and got scythed.

Chase and Shinon helped out, although Shinon kept shooting sparkles at Death, which did nothing, while Chase wanted to shoot his whistling arrow, which helped, but not as much as his other shots, which he occasionally  deigned to use.

(I did not even bother hiring Arya >.>)

Carcharoth looked scary as fuuuuuck in that new helm of his :P But big warriors don't duck very well...

Ultimately Kael's savior was, of course...

228_zpsnztpmzgg.jpg

Her little canonball dagger attack is pure murder to Death. Kael enjoyed hiding around corners and watching her jump him again and again, until her inevitable death. Then the mad sprint to the Sparyard to bring everyone back to life and try it all over again!

We got Death down to five bars before I decided it was time to move on. Mostly because by then I'd use up all those lantern things (which are super killer against Death btw, as I'm sure you all already know  durr I did not)

Nah we didn't fight Daimon... too chicken >.>

I tried to remember to rehire and release so I could five star Kael's awesome helpers; sorry if someone goes back with 4 stars! :-s And thanks, Infinity Crew xD

Daimon is easy honestly the Troll is harder. i admit Death is a pain but his health stays the same.

THAT'S what I forgot to change last night. I knew there was something.

I did the hydra head quest with Barnaby's group and Shinon did nothing but dazzle blast bandits and harpies the whole way. He could kill them by nudging them gently, but no. SPARKLE SPARKLE!

I'm finding his strider setup isn't working well for me in BBI. He usually tries to use fracture dart which explodes on the ceiling. And then of course the dazzle blast. I remember seeing it in his skill list and wondering, "Hey, that gives off some cool lighting, why aren't I using that?" so I swapped it in. I now remember why I don't use it.

I'll take a look at his skills the next time I'm on.

As for right now, four pictures from last night's shenanigans.

Three seconds into the Hydra head journey, this happened.

Well I was a level 85 sorcerer; nope, no way, not gonna do it  I would attempt Mr. Daimon as perhaps an assassin or MA but not sorcerer, too slow. Also my pawn was a warrior, which is pretty crap vocation until upper levels.

Aww don't change him if you're using that for photos! It just does not work very well against Death  I was exaggerating, he did do some damage; they all did. But Chase and Briana proved to be the most effective. It is just such a crappy environment to fight Death in; the pawns constantly get stuck in the little crevices and repeatedly try to roll away, only they're just rolling into the wall, so they get scythed super easy, the little idiots. But in any case, I changed to assassin and Kelly is fighter again, so we're gonna head back down there (after we go through upper BBI with Alin and Leanne... AW YEAH EASY XP) and really bloody his nose this time (hopefully finish him off).

Because I like "cheesing" my way with Death, I am quite partial to meeting him in the Sparyard. BUT! That is because I will show up with a crapton of Demon periapts, liquid vims, set as MA, and equipped with an upgraded Ricochet ring. I take four periapts and a liquid vim, and just start spamming Ricochet. No matter where I am in the map. LOL! It don't matter (well, not as much....thank you many walls and tight quarters. )

However, it is nice to also cheese it in the first map (oh dear frankstein! What the hell is the name of it?!?! ). Anyway, go in as a Ranger, stack four Conqueror's Periapts, max your weight carry with Blast ARrows, and spam 10fold. (Oh, and don't forget the Vim!). The poor bugger, stays pretty well on the ground the entire time. Ahhhh. Good times. *dreamy look*

@Curious - I am totally not guessing what the "cannonball dagger" thing is, that Bri used?? Sounds fun!

@Shepen - Whose a pretty cow?? You are, that's who!
Damn the clipping can be fun in this game. :D

You know, I'm really not good about using things like periapts and what not; I dunno why; it's just maybe too complex a level of RPG-ing for me. Probably also why I am so easily intimidated by some of these baddies  However I do acknowledge that I need them to fight Offline Ur; it really is the only way for me to kill him. That fight honestly is not that fun though, since Mr. Ur's movements are so predictable; it's more for the loot. I genuinely enjoy fighting something like Death, well, BBI is just such a GREAT group of maps and baddies in general. It's just so well done.

And I agree, an excellent place to fight him is the first gardeny map; we just run around the statue and shoot him with arrows  Ninefold bolt works great for MA and with my assassin Rohan I think I just use Eleven-whats-it-called (shoots eleven arrows in a row).

I think with my lower level Arisens I'm once again moving towards assassin and MA >.> They are just my favorite. So Kael, Kelly's Arisen, will ultimately be assassin and Cobweb, Alin's Arisen, will be MA. BUT I will play sorcerer with him for as long as possible.

Cannonball dagger ... She like jumps up and spins in the air (in place) while slashing out with her daggers. Okay I think it is helm splitter. And she also has cutting wind (hurr hurr) which is pretty awesome. She is such a fantastic little strider.

Probably Brain Splitter + Eminence. When pawns use one of the splitter skills, they jump and then activate the move. The Eminence augment increases the damage they do if they jumped. Combined, it does absurd amounts of damage.

Wow. I'll have to remember that if I make Arya or Seel a strider anytime soon. (Or Kelly I guess, but...) I assume Brain Splitter is courtesy of a BBI ring?

EDIT: Oooo from the wiki: Helm Spliiter can be used to fall from any survivable height without injury. The Arisen must run toward the edge of the cliff (DO NOT JUMP) and at the last possible moment before going over the edge, execute Helm Splitter while continuing to hold the left stick forward. The forward momentum will take the Arisen over the edge of the cliff and land safely with NO damage if executed properly.

Okay, so all the Arisens except Arthur and Carcharoth are on the Wyrm Hunt -- why do I feel this won't be the last we hear of them? Also I can't wait to see Alynna try to touch Carcharoth's beard, and Barnaby just standing in the background seething with... something... is this... an emotion? I believe it is called juh... juhhh... jealousy? But pawns do not feel emotion... STOP TOUCHING HIM.

 Heeeey by the way, do you have a link to part 9? I checked the link in your sig but it only goes up to part 8.

@Carcharoth -- Aww that's a beautiful pic!!  :o WOW!

In other news... I finally got my PC fixed! ('Twas broken, yes) I played DAI for an hour, had dinner, did some stuff... then turned on the xbox and played ye old DD:DA :P

Kael: Whelp. Definitely foresee a bath in the near future.

Also, did you know that you can kill every part of the chimera and it can still live???

All it does is hop around with all its various dead parts flopping about. It can't do any damage at all. This so confuses the pawns that they just run circles around it.  <_<

When I'm in BBI with my lil'uns and require a pawn that can actually do damage, six gazillion dazzle blasts are not welcome. It had to be changed. He now has implicate, which is almost as useless, but I like it...

He still has trouble with cockatrices though. I don't understand why. He'll climb all over them but never actually strike from above, despite what he repeatedly tells the rest of his group he's going to do. Other similar monsters like chimeras and stuff, he'll attack them. Cockatrices? Nope. I've noticed it before, too, when I was still using Leanne he did the same thing.

I. freaking. DIED.

Ah, the Bluemoon Beefcake Calendar. (that composite Shinon shot was indeed taken at Bluemoon Tower) The Bitterblack Beefcake calendar was something I'd begun and abandoned on the Pawn Community (I got to 'Septober', which I believe was a reclining Poisoned Undead)

Okay, so all the Arisens except Arthur and Carcharoth are on the Wyrm Hunt -- why do I feel this won't be the last we hear of them?

I'd initially planned to have EVERYONE there, but I then realized how hard it would be to juggle all those characters and give each their due. We still might see everyone's arisens later on. Spoiler: We will be seeing Carcharoth and Arthur. They have combined their powers and have become the almighty Carthuroth, scourge of BBI.*

*may not be accurate

Sometimes things like this happen when you're trying to get a nice shot of the sunrise on Unusual Beach and you can't help but wonder how much the game actually knows.

Heeeey by the way, do you have a link to part 9? I checked the link in your sig but it only goes up to part 8.

I really should change my sig. The wordpress site is the one I'm using as 'canon' - there have already been a few stealth edits to things I've messed up. Just minor things, but later revelations just wouldn't make sense if I left them there.

Writing this thing is becoming more and more like playing Jenga. BUT I LOVE IT.

Does he behave the same way with griffins? It might be the poison and petrification attacks that are messing with his AI.

Carcharoth, having gone mad with hunger, loneliness, boredom, power and ergot poisoning, used his Beard Magic to summon Arthur from the rift. He was eaten, and with the power of 2.5 arisens, a reign of terror was begun. Carthuroth pursued the denizens of BBI with a relentless fury, and sang pieces from Human Centipede: The Musical at them until they threw themselves upon his sword.

Bwahahaha....

Someone get Carcharoth on the telestone. This has to be sorted out.

Alynna: *takes a telestone out of her pocket, presses a button*

Barnaby:…You have him on speed-dial?

Alynna: Y’uh-huh. I’d say “don’t look at me like that” but that’s the only expression you have.

Barnaby: …I am not comfortable with this. I’m not quite sure why, but I’m not comfortable with this. ‘Tis strange, ser. ‘Tis wondrous strange.

Seel: OOOOH! I think this is what passes for an argument with Barnaby! Everybody, gather ’round and witness this incredible spectacle!

Barnaby: …an argument? Wait, is this… am I jealous? Is that what this is?

He is totally fine with griffins. He fracture darted the griffin on my speedrun and took it out in like ten seconds.

I think he's just fascinated by the cockatrice's slick black feathers. He feels at home up there.

That is some vintage DD thread right there.

Okay I re-read part 9 and I have so many thoughts and ideas lol Past!Alynna and Past!Possessed!Shinon -- who are they and where are they from? Obviously this is something that happened in the past; pawns get possessed all the time, although why Shinon would've gotten possessed in the Ward of Regrets, I can't fathom. Anyway, I can't wait to find out what happened there. Chilling.

Arya's past memories of traveling with Carcharoth, Briana, and Shinon. Obviously she and Shi were hired by Carcharoth long ago, and they entered BBI. Why can't they remember it? Did Carcharoth really sacrifice himself for them? Briana seems unconcerned about her Arisen though, and crazy as she is, they're connected, and I don't think she'd be okay with him being in danger. (But could Carcharoth ever be in danger; he's like a rock. A handsome bearded rock...)

Also, my pairing predictions:

Arya x Thomas

Zihark x Seel

I thought Arya x Chase could happen but that scene between them was very brother-sister-ish and very cute. Like no sparks. And Arya said Thomas has pretty eyes <3 And... they'd be sooooo cute together hehehe <3

Seel is just besotted with Zihark; wait till he sees his idol's new hairdo and scruff :P

As for anyone else, I can't speculate. We know Shinon will stay single, and I suspect Briana will, too. Will Chase's crush on Gabs ever be requited? He sure was depressed about Iorveth showing up. He's definitely head over heels, poor boy. But can she change her mind so completely? Who would say no to that cute elf's face?

Can't wait for part 10 xDDD

There was an update. I should have known, it happens every time.

If you ARE able to get a photo through, let me know. For now, I'm just gonna sadly let this perfect photo go. Dammit.

edit: whoa, looking at the xbox support forums, it looks like I dodged a bullet. People are complaining this update bricked their consoles. I had no issues there, at least.

At the start, I was getting a new screen saying that Dark Arisen was asking my permission to post to FB. I had the option of choosing allow or don't allow. It would spit out a new error code upon choosing allow. Later on, it just gave me 0x83980001 without the allow/don't allow screen.

The pawn community is broken as well, we're getting the old "cannot find any dragon's dogma screenshots" when trying to pull them from FB. I have 86 waiting to be uploaded. Here are a few.

It's a Ur-Dragon drop, after beating him. Easiest way to get that weapon, is to fight the Ur "offline".

It is enchanted with Holy.

**note**
RNG is a factor for Ur drops, but since there are only a handful of weapon types as a reward, it usually doesn't take long to acquire one. (Hell...there was a period of time, where I seemed to be getting one on almost every fight. The beauty of rng. :pinched:
