^ And when you send their pawns back after renting them, please don't send a rock. At least make it an herb or something.
Unless the pawn is modeled after Charlie Brown. Then I'm definately sending him a rock (and a very high rating)

Got a whole slew of new quests, so I figured I'd run down to the Encampment and Cassardis to see if the notice boards had new quests too. *extremely minor quest spoilers*
Saw Valmiro with a quest balloon over his head, so I talked to him. He's going on an adventure, he says, and wants me to get him some supplies. Some herbs, since he tends to get injured a lot. "This should do, cos," he says as I hand him the herb in question. He then asks for something to light his way. I head to the store and buy him a brand new lantern, I even fill it up, because I'm just that nice. "This should keep out the darkness," he says as he takes the lantern. "I could use some food," he continues. Without bothering to look at the quest window, I assume I have what he wants (beast-steak, come on) but it doesn't trigger. So I look.
Valmiro wants SOUR EFFING AMBROSIAL MEAT.
It's no longer the problem it was, but I couldn't believe my eyes. Of all the things he could have asked for. It's like he was mocking me.
edit: @HoldTheLine it'll be a while before I get there. I'm sure you'll be fine with just in-game pawns, that's why they're there. I've used a few myself, one was a party member for like ten levels because i didn't want to get rid of him. Good luck nonetheless!

So I have to ask...has anyone here fought the Ur Dragon by themselves? I don't have Xbox live so apparently it'll just be me and my pawns up against that thing alone... :'(

Thank you!!! I think I'll wait till I'm a few levels higher and then hire some pawns a few levels higher than me before I go fight him, just to be sure that I'm not rushing off unprepared
@Sleepicub09
Really? Well, that's a disappointment...

This guy:
Edit: He also said something about how the pawn (your pawn) is your shadow, and how someday it'll take the form of their master (that's probably why he looks like a younger version of Dragonforged...I think). If this is true then, unfortunatley for my pawn, his "master" is a female...

Of course I will read the wiki/articles first, but I find that opinions of people who have played the game are ultimately more accurate sources.

No way to really repay that favor since he's over level 100 and would probably take me millions to hire his pawn. But he's my new best friend ever.
Oh and while I think of it, found something interesting about getting rocks as gifts. Apparently if someone tries to exploit the gift system, it turns the items to rocks. For example trying to gift a DLC item to someone who doesn't own the DLC turns it into a rock.

Your class can be changed at will once you hit the main city. So can your character's appearance, should you so desire. Everything "fits the setting", because the setting is about one step up from a blank slate. It's definitely more about combat than story, so you'll be better off making a character that best suits your playstyle.
I got bored yesterday and headed to the rift, deciding to switch my party up for a change. I found that one of my regular favorites (Chakwas the mage) was replaced by a level 7 fighter named Lightning (it was actually quite a decent likeness of the FF character.) They must have beaten the game. Sigh.
But then I hired a Saskia and a Iorveth. Go team Witcher. We don't need a healer. (Actually, we do, walking around with armloads of matured greenwarish hampers my desire to loot everything.)
Okay, question: my main pawn is a male. Am I gonna have to chuck him off a cliff to be able to talk to Ophis, the lady bandit leader? Or could I just pretty him up and put him in a dress?
Wow, I just thought, if your Arisen is male, are they instantly hostile?

My pawn is fairly loosely based on my fiancee, while my Arisen is based on myself. I want to hire an old lady warrior, though, because that seems like it would be fun.
Woah...you're pimping out a digital version of your fiancee in a video game. That's hilarious. Just never tell her.

Well, from going through that myself, it seems like if your whole party was female they'll at least talk. However, when I was playing it and I was the only female in my group, they only attacked when I started talking to the bandit leader.
So yes, chuck him off a cliff just to be safe. I think a male arisen is the same way, though. I feel bad for those who have created a male arisen. lol

Or you could just buy a set of lady's clothes for a few gold from The Black Cat and have him meet Ophis dressed as a lady

I'm going out on a limb and say this is my game of the year. I mean I was fighting the crocs without light because I didn't know that jumping in water would cancel out your lantern. I love games that put so much attention to the little details. I seriously wasn't expecting the lights to go out; I lost so much health and healing items, but I won the battle.
The only problem I'm having is the whole pawns system. I'm such a nice person when I hire pawns. I always give them a gift, a nice message, and at least rate them a 3-4. My pawn is fully equipped with tactics and weaponry, and I keep getting back no gifts and only 3 star ratings (had a few give her 4 stars in helpfulness). I've had like 10 people hire her out, but I've only recieved one gift and it was a freaking skull. It's just a minor gruff, but it hurts my feelings... Pawn's name is Deionarra and she is a healer.

I just fought some spear slinging crocodiles in a well. This game is seriously so much fun. Even with the clunky combat system, I'm having more fun playing this game than Dark Souls.

Not only does this work, but you get an achievement for it.

I think it is going to be my game of the year as well. I am really having a blast with it.
I sometimes don't like hiring pawns from other players, because I then feel obligated to give them a nice parting gift. Always.
Are you on xbox? If so, what's your gamertag - I will keep an eye out to get Deionarra.

All I ever get are various moldy food items, or nothing at all, and all I ever give are things like Harspud Sauces, Panaceas and Herb Ales. Why am i so nice to people? I've got all kinds of rotten food in my storage, I bet it smells delightful in there.
If people don't want to post their gamertag/psn thingy, all we need is the level, class, and name of your pawn, it'll show up on a search. I can gift some low levels some decent weaponry, I never sell my old stuff (minus the golden items.) Plus I've got duplicates up the wazoo thanks to all my aimless wandering.
