Had a helluva night though. Went back to shadow fort to open up the proving grounds. Ran into the dragon in the woods and started whacking it a little. Then a cyclops comes wandering by, and goblins are taking potshots. Starts at dusk, turns to day, and back to night, but I slayed that dragon. Then off to witchwood and my first golem fight. Action packed night.

So I give Mercedes enough cloudwine to get the 'affinity' jingle, but later after doing the witch hunt quest, I get the affinity and beyond trophy. Selene wants to live at my home. Hmmm... I think we need charts and graphs to figure this out.

You took on the dragon around the shodow fort? I'm jealous.
Yea my first Golem fight was cool..I got baited by some snow harpies..it turned out they were roosting on a golem...it was a long fight, my lantern went out and I was out of oil, epic night battle, my main pawn screaming to kill the thing..the other pawns screaming stuff along the lines of abandon hope. so fun.
Yea I've been reading that the romances are a bit buggy to say the least. I keep doing quests and having guys like valmiro get the pink cloud..I quickly backhand him for good measure.
Im quite upset that I messed up the Selene quest line. oh well.

My husband bought the first DLC, and from the tiny little bit I witnessed, it looked like a bunch of miscellaneous fetching/looting. Meh. Personally, I'd rather fight a griffin or something instead.
Yeah, it seems like those fetch quests are the only dlc quests we will be seeing for a while. I got the first one just to see what it was like and it was lack luster. And you don't even need to communicate with other npcs either, it just tells you where to go to find a token (which they are easily missable since they're so small). And it also doesn't give a reason why we need to do this or what purpose those token serve (at least as far as I know of). :/
Sorry DD, but after ME3 and DA2, I'm sick of fetch quests (and escort quests lol).

I switched over to the Assassin specialization, leveled it up to about halfway, then switched back to Magick Archer. I may keep this class forever. I

I'm trying to stretch out this game as much as I possibly can, I'm still searching for metal golems to kill and noonflowers to harvest. After that, though, there's not much left...

Now I just need to find a better bow. I'm still using Magian's Crutch, which I've had for quite a while.

Yep, I had the same problem too. You can get another Magic bow during the Bluemoon Tower main story quest.
Too bad Pawns can't be hybrid classes, or I could gift you one.

Having played the entirety of the game as a mage/sorceror, I decided to finally switch to a magick archer. While I like it a lot more than I thought I would, perhaps changing to a brand new vocation right before I run across the Ur-Dragon was not the best of ideas.

What are the noonflowers for?
I think I missed out on a bunch of post-game stuff since I accidentally finished that wakestone quest (and the game) before exploring the rest of the world. Didn't even come across the ur-dragon or any metal golems.
Anyway, if you want to stretch out the game a bit more I suppose you could always replay it with a different vocation; maybe try out a physical setup rather than magic? New game+ kinda sucks for that since it's the same difficulty but you keep your level and equipment (so everything is ridiculously easy and you're stuck with the same character stat-wise). I ended up dumping my completed save onto a usb and started a new game.
Mucking around with counter-kills with the assassin is pretty fun, and climbing/jumping up enemies to stab them in vital spots has a certain satisfaction (although just unloading near-cosmic forces on them also has some appeal - not sure if anything kills things quite as fast as double high maelstorms).
I still haven't got around to trying out the mystic knight and ranger yet (or the magick archer properly), but experimenting with different classes does add a little bit of replayability even if the storyline doesn't change too much.

I didn't really get around to counter-kills with the Assassin. Maybe I should switch back and give it a try. I also haven't tried Ranger yet, but that's what my main pawn is.
If I was going to hire a warrior pawn, what skills should I be looking for them to have? The handful I've hired have frankly kind of sucked. I spend more time reviving them than fighting, it seems. Maybe I'm just looking for the wrong things. I haven't played a warrior, so I don't know what everything does.

For Warriors I like the ones with War Cry and Corona Slash. Had good results with them. Avoid the ones with long charging attack skills. Go for the ones with quicker aoe type moves.

OK, I'll look for those.
Honestly, though...are warriors really needed? I get by pretty well with a ranger, a magick archer (my pc), a healing mage, and a sorcerer. I suppose they are handy for holding enemies down. They're usually dead before I can get to them, though. My main pawn, Iorveth (who nobody hires, sniff), is pretty awesome that way.

I prefer the warrior over a sorcerer since everything is usually dead by the time the latter gets one of their big spells off. Things die too fast in my team to make good use of them.
And if you want me to hire you, get the PS3 version.

There was a healer mage that I hired a while back that I added to my favorites. She's now over level 100, and costs over 9 million RCs for me to rent her. Doh! Every time I see her in the rift, I wonder how many hours a day that guy plays.
OK, I'll give warriors a shot, and will stop being so dang snooty. I'm sure they will be great.

@mr_afk Noonflowers were for a weapon upgrade for my pawn. There wasn't much left to do post-game anyway, a few new monsters pop up here and there, but it was essentially the same old stuff. I cleaned out the notice boards (aside from stupid metal golems and 10 pieces of gran soren rubble) and didn't have much left to do.
I actually said "screw it, I'm beating the game" pretty much right after I posted, and I did. Ending was okay, and now I'm curious if not completing Selene's questline changes the final cutscene.
I'm going to eventually replay it to get the rest of the achievements, (wish i'd known about a couple of them beforehand) maybe not that ur-dragon one though, especially if it only pops when you deal the killing blow.

Yeah, right, you're probably up to level 100 right now, and I'd just be starting out. I kinda lied - my husband and one of my XBL friends do hire Iorveth, but they're lower level than he is (46, to their levels 24 and 33), so he's a boon for them.

Well I'm only level 65 right now.
But not sure if it works this way on X-Box or not, but on the PS3, there's no charge for hiring your friends pawns, regardless of level. I've heard of people friending strangers just to take advantage of it.

Ended up with Selene. Weird. The affinity thing is just poor. I mean, because I might give Pablos the Innkeeper some fish, he could potentially jump my bones in the end? Yuck. And how creepy is it if you're playing an old goat character, and Selene is your ending. She looks 12 or 13. Yikes. Pointless system if done like this.
In any event... wild story with a wild conclusion. What a head scratching mess. Talk about speculation for everyone, if anyone even cares. Sometimes, I miss cliched endings. This attempt at philisophical is usually blah.
But, fun as heck game. I'm going to try more classes. I went strider/magic archer this playthrough.
I'm on PSN, and my pawn is Taliara. She ended up low level 50's. She's a mage and wears a crown. She likes long walks on the beach. Archhydra ate her, but I got her back.

Could have been much much worse. Could have been Symone. Or worse still, that Gran Soren Inkeeper people keep getting.

Eww, Symone was awful. She dropped to the ground like a kid having a temper tantrum, while I was on the "escort my annoying daughter around the city" quest. So I picked her up, and tossed her, and landed in jail. I failed the quest, but that was fine with me.
Babysitting Symone had to be the worst, most degrading quest I've had to do in videogames short of delivering that plate of curry in Xenosaga.
At least doing it well leads to to some of the best vendor bought gear in game. But far too easy to mess that quest up.

Yeah picking her up is a trap actually. You have to follow her closely but not actually touch her. If you do that correctly you have to play hide and seek. If you find her quickly enough, she wants to race you. You have to let her win the race...but not by too much. So she feels she really won, and you didn't actually let her...even though you did.
Do all of that correctly and she gives you a Gold Idol as a reward. That Idol can be given to either Caxton or Madeline for a quest they have to get better items for their shop. You only get one Gold idol. The other one you'll have to give silver or bronze idol's to. Caxton gets way more weapons if you give it to him. Madeline gets more female only gear, and some mage/bow type items.
But the items both of them get can also be found in chests in the world if you're lucky enough.

Does anyone know what level you have to be (or which pawns to bring) for the final quest called "The Final Battle"? I'm at level 47 (Mage-Archer btw), and that "Gore-Chimera" (I think that's what it's called) keeps on riping me and my pawns apart. :/
I did it at 59 I think. If its too tough go do other stuff for a bit. Things get tougher right after that fight.
You beat it like any other chimera really. Jump on it and cut the snake tail off first, then the goat head, then kill the lion. Its a little more of a PITA than the regular model but the same tactics work for both really.

"What will it be today? Have your pick! Any you like!"
Still, that would be better than Caxton and his "They're masterworks all, you c*nt!" that I keep hearing by cutting him off.
