Not on topic, but related to the thread subject. (also if this was already posted, im sorry for being late :P)

Was browsing through DD forums on capcom's forums when i came across this discussion:

www.capcom-unity.com/dragonsdogma/go/thread/view/122057/29145631/Dragons_Dogma:_Vote_for_PC

Just wanted to add my opionion to it.

As really intriguing DD is, if Capcom is throwing a Namco Bandai (if what the OP says, was actually said by a capcom rep) id just know it will being **** on PC, because capcom's history with most of there old (console exclusives) as always (mostly) turned into crap when ported on the pc.

So if CC is actually gonna pull Namco Bandai (like Namco did with DS, thus made PC version coming out) i say, they better ******* do it right then! no low 30 fps, or anything like. Make it a proper port for once!

Sorry for going Off-Topic again :/

Edit: on page 2 on thread on there, there is a petition link for PC version, i personally wanna see DD come over to the pc, so i signed it.

Does anyone know what level you have to be (or which pawns to bring) for the final quest called "The Final Battle"? I'm at level 47 (Mage-Archer btw), and that "Gore-Chimera" (I think that's what it's called) keeps on riping me and my pawns apart. :/

I did it at 59 I think. If its too tough go do other stuff for a bit. Things get tougher right after that fight.

You beat it like any other chimera really. Jump on it and cut the snake tail off first, then the goat head, then kill the lion. Its a little more of a PITA than the regular model but the same tactics work for both really.

there's also the tried-and-true mage strategy of "stand back and high comestion", although if your pawns can't hold aggro, you won't be standing for long.

ah, you said mage-archer.

still, my strategy works.

edit: at the end, I was still missing a few monsters in my bestiary... and I noticed that there's a weapon that requires "snowy saurian skin" to upgrade, is there another version of saurians after geo-saurians? I think the other spot i was missing was ur-dragon, as that thing munched me in aobut two seconds and I never went back.

Anyone else actually having fun crafting items? I don't know why, but I'm hooked on finding new items and mixing them together to create some awesome stuff. The last thing I created was some tome from an old sword--pretty surprising.

The only thing that is a problem is the fact that the game suffers from the TES syndrome. I don't care at all about the main story. The last thing I did was the escort to Grand Soren, and I haven't looked back ever since.

Other than that, I'm having a blast fighting new creatures, crafting, and exploring new areas. This is how a sandbox should be. Bethesda could borrow an entire chapter from Capcom. The worst thing that happened to sandbox gaming was level-scaled enemies, and I'm glad Capcom didn't pull any of that for this game. I mean I was running around an area, and a freaking dragon popped out of nowhere and ravaged my party. I knew not to go back there again until I leveled more.

I don't know how this game got a lower score than Skyrim.

I don't know if you can compare it to skyrim really. While the main storylines in both games are rather meh (and a little '' in dragon's dogma), skyrim actually had proper side-quests beyond escort/extermination/and fetch quests - and the various guild quest-lines even had some degree of a plot. In terms of exploring, skyrim also felt (and probably is) a lot bigger - and there's a lot more random non-quest related dungeons/caverns to explore if you're so inclined. The combat was completely different so it's hard to compare - although I will say that the climbing system in dragon's dogma is pretty epic. The follower system was probably superior in dragon's dogma, although it seems more centred around a party-based rpg than skyrim was.

While the open world aspect of dragon's dogma is pretty good, I don't know whether level-scaling frequent respawning is actually a good thing (I suppose both a pro and a con?) and i'm pretty sure it isn't a good thing to have the majority of loot/weapons become available based on the main questline progression.

After you've levelled up a bit and travelled around the map a few times, all the random low-levelled wolves, goblins, bandits, and harpies become more of a repetitive nuisance than a challenge since they haven't scaled up (so get one-shotted and provide very minimal xp). By ~level 30 even the larger enemies aren't much of a challenge and there is a distinct lack in hard enemies until the final area and post-game. By level 40+ that devilfire grove drake (probably the hardest enemy before post-game) can be killed in about 10 seconds with an assassin or in the time it takes to cast 2 high maelstorms. So TES is actually somewhat better in that regards, since their enemy scaling system means that you face higher ranked enemies which can still provide a little bit of a challenge. The lack of scaling and the night system in dragon's dogma is pretty exciting for the first few levels though - I think they could have made that feeling last for longer if they had made the night even more dangerous and added a greater range in enemy difficulties (e.g. coming across some of the post-game enemies near the greatwall etc)

I suppose it's understandable for armour/weapons in shops to be unlocked based on the main questline (doesn't make sense for them to sell better equipment based on level) - but for chests it probably should only be location-based. As it is, exploring straight after reaching grand soren means that even the tougher areas (e.g .soulflayer's canyon) which usually have decent loot will only have basic/boring stuff. Skyrim's level-based loot system isn't much better, but in any case this somewhat reduces the incentive for early-game exploring. And by the time you reach near the end of the main questline (so you can potentially pick up pretty top-end stuff from certain areas) you will probably have already explored the whole map and killed enough enemies to just want to move on and finish the storyline off.

Wow that final battle with Big Red was one of the most amazing boss battles I've ever seen. And the music...wow just wow. After 140 hours of playing, it was exactly what I wanted: an epic end for an epic adventure.
Can't help but compare it to Skyrim's final battle against Alduin which was pretty crap.

I'm trying to be as vague as possible here to avoid spoilers, but I just watched a few ending videos on youtube and realized the final cutscene is different depending on who your LI is. The game recognized mine was Barnaby for the Final Battle quest, but the ending cutscene had Selene. I'm wondering if she overrides "unimportant" npcs, as chances are she'll be living in your house. I don't think there'd be a voiced cutscene for every potential LI, but what happens then if you don't do the Witch Hunt quest and she isn't there?

So my question to you all is: did anyone get a different LI in the ending cutscene than you had for the final battle?

I finally started a new game today, I was all set to try out the whole bow/dagger thing, and when the dragon said to take up arms....

..I grabbed the staff. Mage it is. Until Gran Soren at least.

And I've already got about five quests that I missed the first time around. I'm looking to get the hero achievement, hopefully it already counts quests i've done toward that total. Although I'll have to play pretty far in to retrigger the Aelinore rescue quest that I skipped...

But I've got a spare snakeskin purse in storage, so huzzah.

I've been thinking of making a screenshot comic sorta thing with my generation 2 Arisen. She's a wacky lady.

Just finished it about 3 hours ago, that last fight was pretty amazing! A bit tough but I had help from Xena the Warrior Princess.
I'll probably start a new game as a double handed warrior but I hear its a bit tough since they don't have any blocking or dodging abilities.

I hope you mean the dragon... because... you pretty much have to put down the controller and walk away to lose against the final boss. In fact you should, it's an achievement/trophy, if you care about such things. :)

Oh, wait.. I think I'm thinking of the wrong "final boss" as well... so ignore that^. I was thinking of glowy robe dude.

Warriors can get a augmentation called bastion which greatly boosts their survivability (it reduces damage from physical attacks). You can safely ignore the majority of attacks as a warrior without getting knocked back and your follow-up blows generally chain-stunlock and kill things pretty fast. Infact, there's hardly a reason not to just fork out the 1000 discipline to unlock warrior for any character since bastion is available from level 1.

Since you can pick up the gryphic victory (one of the best 2H in the game) really early by doing one of the escort quests when you reach gran soren, warriors are probably one of the easiest vocations to play (I think I got one of my easiest low-level drake kills by whacking the drake in the heart with the pommel of my giant sword haha). The large radius of your attacks also means you can take on groups of enemies at the same time (the aoe spin attack is useful in this regards since it somehow drags enemies towards you into a cluster, completely ignoring physics). The only downside is that it is relatively slow-hitting and there aren't any nifty abilities like blink strike to zip around between enemies - you just have to jump attack your way around.

Oh, and at high enough levels of strength what it's pretty amusing how powerful the charge-up abilities become - I think it's the arc of deliverance (which involves a charge up nearly as long as some advanced sorceries) which can knock off several bars/one-shot big enemies. The abilities are mostly rather impractical to use and you can get by mostly on core-skills/jump attacks.

On a slightly unrelated note, you don't need to carry a pickaxe with a warrior since you can 'mine' by whacking things with your sword haha.

I got madeline for both. The dialogue seemed pretty unique (which surprised me) and she made reference to back when you first meet her.

I think that if you do all her quests, give her the money she requests, and perhaps visit her shop occassionally, her level of affinity becomes the highest out of all the other quest-related romances as I did all of them as well.. (so escort her to encampment + money, generic escort quest to blood water bay, visit store, give her money + her dagger in that random quest where she's escaping from gran soren). I think the last mini-quest is probably the key, since it triggers at a rather odd time (near the end) and if you don't drop by to check on her it's possible to miss it.

Selene was the same, but it seemed pretty "default", too, (dont' really want to say more, spoilers) which leads me to believe that if you picked "random citizen A", you won't get anything similar to those scenes for that last cutscene. But then again, if you skip the Witch Hunt quest, she won't be there. It'd default to Quina, I bet.

I'm guessing only people who are named in item descriptions would get a scene, because there has to be a reason for singling those out.

Also, I'm slightly disturbed that Simone is one of those people.

I know there are a lot of Barnabys (Barnabies?) on these boards, so i'm curious as to how their games end. Let me know, will ya?

I've found out that affinity carries over into NG+, so there's gonna be a lot of tossing of people off cliffs. This Arisen has her eyes on Feste, that Adonis of a jester. :D

Wow, has everybody moved on from this game already? I has a sad.

Anyway, new pawn! His name is Selwyn, and he's your typical ShootyMcElf character. Never used a strider/ranger at all in my last playthrough, this time I'm going to attempt to not use a warrior/fighter. Well... after I release that guy with the giant mace in the background.
Image IPB

He started his existence about two days ago, and according to my history, has already been hired 6 times, as opposed to my old pawn...
Image IPB
....who was around for several weeks and only got hired 18 times in total, most of which were by my brother. People are so shallow.

Let that be a lesson to you, if you want people's rift crystals, make your pawn as pretty as hell.

Nope, I'm still playing. I'm trying to reach Lvl 200 on my first account, currently Lvl 151 right now.

I clocked in over 140 hours so far, I don't plan on stopping.  :)

Yeah, I'm still playing even though I should be studying or sleeping. I've been started new games instead of new game+ since I don't like feeling too ridiculously overpowered, but killing the same low-level enemies is kinda getting boring.

Anyway, today I decided to kick up my new game+ again and had a go at the online ur-dragon.

I decided to min-max the damage of my ~level 70 assassin and had the damage augments from assassin, warrior and fighter (bloodlust, autonomy, clout, vehemence) for what I assume to be a bonus of 170% to strength or more, and further increased it with my pawn's holy affinity (before she got knocked out and triggered the autonomy augment).

This got me to close to 3000 strength which I further buffed with a conqueror's precept, some random miracle potion, and showdown (a shield skill which sacrifices defence for increased strength) - although I'm not sure if they stack properly since they don't show up on your character's stat sheet.

Using several liquid vims to maintain stamina, I used gale harness and invisibility and climbed onto the ur-dragon, unleashing hasted ridiculously buffed hundred kisses right into the glowing heart on its chest.

And nothing happened.

I mean, purple blood was spurting out, but for the 8mins or so that I stayed attached to its chest hacking it apart, its health bar didn't go down a single bit. Which is somewhat lame since I didn't get a single bit of loot/experience from it. After it flew off, the only 'loot' was a chest that held an oil flask. Yay.

So while I understand that it's supposed to be some kind of community challenge, with everyone across the world working together to take it down, it's a little lame if you can't see the amount you're contributing. I left and came back, and if anything its health was higher than before. So that kinda sucks.

I looked into it and supposedly if someone dies from it, it gains health. So I doubt it's possible to see your contribution or even if you're actually dealing damage (other than purple blood) - unless you use a maker's finger or something. Unless it's just me with some sort of server glitch? Also, as a part of the community challenge, does anyone who fights it (and presumably survives) get some sort of reward when it dies?

Ah well, perhaps I'll just farm the offline ur-dragon for now.

On another note, I'm feeling particularly philanthropistic atm, so if anyone wants some free gear I'm happy to pass it to them (I've only got access to the end-game shop gear since I'm no where near post-game everfall). I've just got more money than I need since I don't think I can be bothered getting that 10 million gold achievement.

I think the one good point of playing NG+ is not having to care about decent armor and weapons, I could have my audience with the duke while wearing tattered Cassardi rags. I've been mixing and matching armor for my arisen and pawn based solely on looks, even digging into some low level stuff because it just plain looks better. If I was playing right now I'd get some shots, but I'm not. Perhaps later.

Rewarding, huh? I've been there. I went to the ur-dragon riftstone this morning and there was a bunch of wakestones and ambrosial meat left at the tablet as I'd apparently helped out with the last one, but I can tell you, whatever "help" I gave was miniscule.

I looked into it and supposedly if someone dies from it, it gains health.

To the people who were trying to take down Ur-Dragon generation 28: I AM SO SORRY.

I also don't see any damage I've done, and my pawns are ripping that thing apart. It has a staggering amount of life, though. But still... the bar didn't move at all.

As far as I know, everyone gets something, I'm not sure if it's relative to how much damage you do, but I'm guessing it is.

I haven't stopped playing it yet. It's too much fun to go adventuring around the map. I just wish the story wasn't a pile of ass. And gawd dommit why are the craphics so bad. This game is lucky, cause this graphics wh0re usually doesn't put gameplay that far over visuals. But it's jes 2 much fun
