I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it before, but the reaction ogres have when they try to eat a male is hilarious. I'm not completely sure whether it was my mage knocking it over or just rook's taste, but it fell to the floor clutching at its mouth - and when I revived rook he said something along the lines of "they hate the taste of man" hahaha

On another note, it's unfortunately impossible to get into gran soren before the random hydra head escort quest. I was mucking around with a new mage (try semi-solo), using the route through the mines to get to gran soren (to get around the waycastle block). But both front entries have invincible guards (that don't even react/chase after you when you try to kill them) and the back entry "doesn't open from this side". Slightly rubbish how I can't change my vocation if I decide to never recruit my pawn. Also, the only skill trainer available at that stage is at the encampment since the rest spot people didn't turn up. The trader is there, so i'm not sure what's the deal with that. Perhaps my 'arisen' isn't famous enough to have the duke send out people to help out.

But i suppose that was a relatively fun waste of time - managed to get through the mines as a level 10 with my mage and rook just using ingle on everything lol. The three ogres and that bunch of bandits got me to level 15 though. I suppose I better trek back to the encampment and recruit my pawn/progress the story, since it seems to have locked me out of gran soren and I'm not keen on travelling back and forth between the encampment and where-ever I explore.

Does this game have a good story? The combat looks awesome as hell, but story is what stimulates me.

For me, absolutely not. Story was pretty much non-existant. BUT, if it helps, I usually require a good story to keep me engrossed, and this didn't need one. There are a few clever bits here and there, but most of it is bland, and at some parts it even lacks common sense.

Just started last week. Impressed by the first cut scene featuring the character I had just created.
(pretty good for my first attempt at a character - too bad my prime pawn doesn't look as good).

Finally completed the lost and found quest after being repeatedly killed by bandits and one back-to-checkpoint after failing...
I think I need to do some grinding...

I see, well I might take a look at it, but that's a shame to hear.

The story has its moments but there are some pacing issues and a few general WTF moments. Its not that awful. Its really inconsistent

However in saying that, this has the best combat I have ever played in a game ever. This puts all other games to shame in that category and its ridiculously addictive. Its a shame that PC gamers will at the bare minimum will be waiting a while to play this (assuming they get it all - which I think they will).

The only advice I can give is download the demo and give it a try to see if it is your taste in games

It has a good combat system, no doubt, but it just cannot compare to Dark/Demon's Souls combat system. Seriously, it's the most fluid, artistic piece of work I have ever seen. The only thing missing from the Souls series is a good, continuous storyline. Other than that, yeah, Dragon's Dogma pretty much kills the rest of the modern RPG's combat systems like: Skyrim, Origins, and Risen: 2.

Take Monster Hunter and increase customization options which include musuclature and height and female chest size. It's also easier for me than monster hunter. It also helps to have friends playing the game who have higher level pawns. I have a couple people on my friend list with level 50+ pawns and that helps out a bit with the difficulty. But also, after I unlock Warrior, the game became easier for me. Then I used the higher level people to help me unlock the Berserk gear so I can go buy it which gives some impressive stats which help out a lot.

Eh depends on what you're looking for.  If you want more realistic and challenging combat (especially with a melee class) than Demon/Dark Souls is more for you.  If you like comabt thats over the top but really damn fun than Dragon's Dogma is more for you.

I prefer the over the top combat more but I don't blame anyone that likes the challenge more.  Its all about preference really

Well, I will be purchasing this game tonight (x box 360). plan on being a dagger wielding/archer (forget class) that is what I tried out in the demo. What type of pawn do you suggest I build? Any tips is much obliged.

Since you pick up a team pretty quickly, it doesn't really matter what class you make your pawn. And even then, class isn't permanent, so if you find your pawn isn't pulling its weight, you can change things up once you hit the main city. But I DO suggest that you not charge right there, because doing so will lock you out of some quests. Pick the notice boards clean, and keep checking afterwards. New quests pop up constantly.

Have fun, and be prepared to pour a ton of hours into it.

Thanks for the advice shepenwepet! Good to know will definitely take my time and not charge in! Sounds like a really good game. Can't wait to crack it open.

So I finally actually beat the game yesterday. The last boss was a pretty interesting idea, but the ending made no sense at all....but in retrospect that is actually fitting for this game's "story"

I showed some friends this game, and they all bought it, but I'm still too poor. ;~;

I'm having so much fun with this
Love how you climb up a cyclops or ogre while holding on for dear life
And poking his eye
And then my warrior goes like " I hold his leg" lol

If only DAII was like that  it would be perfect
Lets hope DAIII is this much fun

*spolier stuff*
So I killed the main dragon and am now in continuous Everfall getting way stones...or whatever...
it wasn't clear on what I am suppose to do ..But I am assuming I have to grind out against the tentacle eye monster from Futurama to get the rest of the stone shards...or stones.... Do I have to do that or did I just miss a ledge in everfall?
I actually found the name ever fall amusing after that scene.
Oh and is there anyway to get access to my Storage? I know I have some way shards stored in there.
The dragon fight was pretty badass I have to say.

@thesnake777 yup, just leave the everfall and head to the pawn guild,. or cassardis, or any of the rest camps to get at your storage. technically if you already have the required amount of wakestones, you don't need to do anything in the everfall except use the stones.

there are still a few quests on notice boards, too. There's a good one in Cassardis...

By the way the Pawns in Everfell were talking I thought we were trapped in everfall, well I have ten stones..Ill check out Cassardis before I collect the rest of the stones. One thing I am a little confused about is wether this is Post game..or End game?

the Ur-Dragon is in the everfall, yes. But,if you're in NG+ there's a riftstone on the beach in cassardis (Starfall Bay) that takes you right to him.

And if I remember right, I could be wrong, but the Frontier Caverns only open up when you get the quest to go there (not the Shadow Fort quest, it's an endgame notice board one), and from your post it sounds like you didn't do that one the first time around.

So enjoying the game immensely thus far. I have a question, though apologize if it already has been asked and answered, or it's in the manual and missed it, but how do you see comments or ratings of your pawn? (other players comments etc when they use your pawn) thanks in advance!
