The two handed warrior looks more powerful than a character who wields a ultra greatsword in Dark Souls. I got these images from the official site and simply print screened them and uploaded them to imageshack. I'd have copied the URL but you know how official sites are with URLs. They don't lead where you want them to. As for the other images, I found them on random sites just from looking at Dragon's Dogma's images on Google. I believe they are from December but the European sites are just getting them now.
I wish someone could translate what the official site says because there seems to be a lot of information on there. Capcom really need to make an english version of Dragon's Dogma's site.
Okay, so you went above and beyond. But it's a flash site, so you can't copy image addresses anyway. I just didn't feel like having to reupload cropped print screens. And actually, I was looking for the one with the sword pointing toward the camera.
I'm shocked they don't have an english site as well, it would help a lot, you're right.

I hope the character conversation allows me to build up my character and not just ask questions. I like dialogue trees with personality
Is there video of the conversations in effect yet?

@ Elton John is dead: I did see those videos aren't available anymore. Not sure what's up with that. Ah well.

The game's 20-minute day/night cycle means NPCs go about their business
in a convincing manner. During the day they're hard at work, while at
night they'll retire to their homes. And as the zombies demonstrate,
some enemies will only appear after sundown, meaning the timing of your
quests plays a large role in defining the level of challenge you'll
face.

Wow that sword is... big.I have to say, I really like their choice of armor/outfits in this game. I really like that wolf... helm? I'm not really sure what to call that. One of my pawns is definitely sporting that! And we get capes! I'd upload some pics I came across, but I'm not real sure how to do it.
Wolf helm is close enough. The ensemble together is the classic barbarian clothing. I wonder what it looks like on female characters.
The greatswords aren't the only weapons that come in huge sizes. This game has the most impressive longbows I have ever seen in a video game. I've seen a couple that are taller than the character wielding them.

That would be this video:
The replies are:
Hear him out.
Not now.
Hopefully these options only appear for when you can accept or decline a quest. I want a proper conversation system too. If it doesn't have a proper conversation system, I at least want actions leading to consequences like in Arx Fatalis or Dark Souls.
Another thing that video revealed was that we can mine for ore. When the player goes into their inventory, you see a pick axe and its description stating what I said. So at least we know there's stuff to do outside of combat. I'd imagine that ore is used for crafting.
So if we have crafting, we probably have alchemy. Seriously, Capcom needs to release more information about what we can do outside of combat. I know they are boasting about how amazing the action is but still...

They've dubbed it an action game, but the more info that comes out it seems to have all the trappings of a traditional RPG. And they haven't really done a good job promoting this game, which doesn't surprise me.
I've heard about them working alongside the makers of Beserk and I just want onto some Japanese site where Google Chrome tried to translate the page for me. From what I read, DD will be advertised in one of Beserk DVD's (that is if Google Chrome's translator is correct) and Beserk is meant to be popular over in Japan. So it sounds like they are doing good advertising over there.
Capcom don't give a damn about western fans but so long as the game is good, I'll take it. I mean, so long as they don't troll me like EA does, I'll be happy.

Nice find! Did you also notice when they went to use the ferrystone the choices were: Use, Give, Combine, and Discard? Combine could also prove to be for some type of alchemy/crafting system.
As far as advertising goes, I'm not really sure what to make of it. If you look at their Twitter accounts, they keep spamming the same pictures and videos we've seen a hundred times already. It's annoying. I've read that the game apparently has a huge following in Japan however, but why they want to keep the rest of us in the dark I don't understand.

It makes me wonder, are western companies like this for the east? Seriously, what's hard about hiring someone who can write or speak English so that the west gets news quickly as well?
Ranting aside, a new story teaser, 30 seconds long:
On 31st, we are meant to get the full length trailer. Hopefully the trailer gives us more information on the story.

I really think this is indicative of Japanese culture. They are doing themselves a disservice by making a Western RPG and not really marketing it to the west. The release date is approaching, there should be a media blitz about the game right now.

They do have english speaking spokespersons. They've been to the three big game reviewers (Gamespot, IGN, and Machinima) with playable demos showing what they've got. I honestly think that since it is capcom they're focusing more on the market that tends to favor them more, Japan. This is also why they've been selling the combat more than the RPG elements since that has been their bread and butter until now.
I agree that we should be getting a bunch of news soon on it, but alas that doesn't seem to be the case. Then again Japanese developer Sega is doing the same with Binary Domain, keeping everything a secret for some reason. It makes me hesitant to pre-order since its such a mystery still.

Somehow I subscribed to getting messages from the official Japanese facebook page and I found a way to translate it.
Just a disclaimer: I have no clue how accurate the translation, nor can I vouch that it's going to happen, but here goes.
According to google translate, they hope to have more info for overseas from Japan on 1/31 along with the full trailer that was teased.

I like what I see about this one. Hopefully Capcom does not pull a Dark Void.
I doubt it, given the credentials of the team. Capcom is serious about this game. Visually, it looks better than the PC version of Skyrim.
I don't know anything about the team, but I know Capcom. And I don't care too much for the visuals, Skyrim runs smooth as silk on the PC and bumpy as a road in New Orleans on the PS3, so I would rather have an open world game on the PC. Besides, mods take care of the graphics pretty quickly. And my god, that greatsword looks terrible.

Bulletstorm got you early access for the Gears of War 3 beta. But before that, Crackdown I'm sure sold a bunch because of the Halo thing.
Today I was so caught up in what I was doing, I forgot about the story trailer. Also, The Official English Site is up!
There's a create your pawns app. It gives some examples of the kinds of characters you can make. Right now only Strider and Fighter are unlocked. By March 3rd, all the starting and advanced classes will be available.
Some of the female examples they have look really good. I'm now more excited than ever for the game, never thought it would happen. 2012 is definitely looking for me as far as games are concerned.

I'm glad they've finally made an English site. On another note, who cares about the RE6 thing? I'm just glad we are finally getting some more information. And speaking of that English site...they really need a scroll bar...
So now North America is getting the game in May too? And it's late May for both NA and EU.
