It's not the same thing. Dark Souls gave me the option to buy their DLC separate since I already owned the game(which I did). It was only $10-$15. The Prepare to Die Edition is for people who don't already own the game. Capcom isn't giving us the option to buy this expansion separate. If they did, it probably would be priced around $15. Instead, they're trying to sugar coat it by giving extra rift crystals into the normal game(which are completely useless) to try and make it sound like people who already own the game get incentives. DD standard edition will drop under $20 when this releases. They should have an option to buy just the expansion at $15-$20 but they don't. Every freaking game in existence does this so they don't screw original buyers over. That's why I'm not buying their excuse it's a technical problem.
Well Larian Studios said the same with Divinity 2: The Dragon Knight Edition. The expansion was released seperate for the PC version but Xbox 360 owners had to repurchase the entire game again to get the expansion. This edition was charged at £40. Meanwhile I see Dark Arisen going for quite cheap so while I agree that Capcom are scammers with their re-releases, in this case, I see no problem other that owners of the standard game will need to sell that copy (unless they care to own the two same games).

Lvl97 Assassin, armed with a stage 2 Fey Whisper and dragonforged B*stard Sword and with a strength rating of 1970 during night time hours (Augments are Clout, Vehemence, Bloodlust, Ferocity, Attunement and Vigilance).
I'm missing something obvious somewhere.......

I may have had the biggest most single retard moment ever.
It appears that I've been fighting the online version of the Ur-dragon for the past week, without realizing it. This would explain why I was having so much trouble with it.
Turns out that to fight the offline version I have to be disconnected from Xbox Live.
I feel so ridiculous right now.........

Stick with the online Ur Dragon as the damage you dish out accumulates along with all the other players who's fighting it at the moment, and the rewards are better when dealing the killing blow.SeismicGravy wrote...

Remember that if you're seeing purple blood when hitting the Ur you're doing damage. Also it may not look like your doing any damage, but you are as the Ur has so many health bars.

So as someone who hasn't got Dragon's Dogma, should I just buy Dark Arisen instead?
Thats what everyone says, yeah. Unless you want to protest their DLC practices and not get it at all.

Problem- in order to get the DLC, you have to repurchase the game. Dark Arisen only comes as part of a $40 disc release of Dragon's Dogma and all its other DLCs. Sort of a Game of the Year type thing.
You can't in any way purchase the DLC by itself, such as a download.
And that pissed a lot of people off.

But anyway, since my Xbox is a piece of crap, I'm gonna sell my copy of DD, and re-purchase it on PS3, so I guess having to buy the game a second time isn't so bad for me.

The current value of DD at my local GAME is about £10 to £15 (not sure what that would be in dollars). Assuming Dark Arisen is released at around £20 to £25 doesn't that mean that technically it's only worth about 1200 Microsoft points?

And finally, a true giant (did you see, the characters are only as big as his foot!) to fight.
I hope the difficulty in this expansion is equal to how the difficulty is in the first few hours of the game and post-dragon.

Mimics and Minotaurs are in a lot of other games already? And they really look different then Dark Souls even better i think.
I agree on the difficulty party. They can mix up some tough different monsters for added diff.

Alright, the minotaur, okay but the mimic in the treasure chest? I know other games have had them but I can't help but feel that Dark Souls has re-populaized them.

I doubt it's Dragon's Dogma 2. It's got elves in as a race and is called a "new IP" by Capcom. Further more it was revealed by that Ono guy (the lead developer of the Street Fighter series) and not by the lead developer of Dragon's Dogma which just further supports my view that it's a new IP.

It seems one of the major gripes (the game getting too easy some hours in) has been addressed as the expansion is supposed to be quite difficult. The OXM reviewer says that his LV 75 sorcerer died quite a few times (and it should be noted that the expansion area opens up at LV 45) and that enemy encounters are all the more better. The exploration is more similar to that of Dark Souls with there being short-cuts opening up quicker routes to previous areas as well as there being more secrets and "secret" areas to find so to speak.

While I didn't get the game prior(obviously), it just doesn't seem fair to those who did.
So *shrugs*
