The bandits on the way to Bluemoon Tower were way more of a challenge. I'm kinda not digging this Assassin class. Mayhap it's time to move on to Mystic Knight, now that I have the Grypic armor.
And none of my friends have mage pawns. Literally all but two are warriors - the exceptions are one sorcerer, and one strider. Of course, I just made my main pawn a warrior too, so...hehe.

Props to you for playing a mage. I tried it for a while in this run, but really blew at it. I felt like I was constantly nibbling on herbs and chugging potions, just to stay alive. I had Anodyne, but could never cast it in time to really help myself get out of trouble.

On another note, the DLC armours/weapons at the Black Cat are garbage. They look good but the statistics are for characters that are LV 10. Yikes.

I went offline to finally kill the Ur-Dragon for the first time, got my achievement, twenty wakestones and some nifty daggers for my strider. My only gripe is that I can't get purpure crystals to upgrade them until post-"Final" Battle, I'm still pretty much at the very start of the game. There's also no chance of me dragonforging them as I just plain cannot function as a non-magic user. Perhaps today I'll get some dagger practice in.
Hopefully I can get some wacky screenshots too. I keep forgetting the option is there.

If you're doing Dark Arisen, there's a Dark Bishop/ Cursed Dragon Combo before the second shortcut that has a decent chance to drangonforge items. You can also farm the Ur-Dragon since it's weak to holy.Shepenwepet wrote...
So I played about four hours last night and got very little accomplished, and loved every second of it.

He didn't enjoy that. I got munched. When I went back to get the longbow, I got a different crummy magick bow instead. Note to self: save when I get a decent piece of equipment.
I'd gotten a little overconfident, I think. It's been a while since I'd fought anything near my level. since I'm NG+. The gorecyclops on the upper floor kicked itself into a rage while I stood up on the stairs and sniped at it for ten minutes, he never hit me once.

I've never dealt with the Capcom website or pawn community, but I'm guessing there should be a way to do it through there.

I actually did employ that tactic when I replayed that section...I'm just worried it might still be around when I get back (so toughening up the team a bbit with the main game).LPPrince wrote...

Just sent my level 65 character to the new island and was immediately annihilated by a new boss (looks appropriately like the grim reaper)
I don't even play the game but from what I heard, you're supposed to RUN AWAY from that guy.

As someone who enjoyed the first game, is this worth the 40 dollar price tag? If so, then why?

I saw him once almost immediately and hid in the doorway to the room he was in. He disappeared and hasn't been back. You should be good.
I haven't seen him in any other room yet either. Admittedly, I'm not that far in.
edit: I wouldn't pay 40 bucks for it if you already have Dragon's Dogma. It's just an extra dungeon, really. The reusable ferrystone is nice, but I played through DD without any real complaints about having no fast travel.
You also get all the DLC, which amounts to tons of fetch quests and some low-level equipment you still have to shell out gold for.
I didn't buy it, I borrowed it. I might have to eventually pick it up when it's cheaper, because I don't think I can use my save with the vanilla game anymore.

He shows up again in the Fortress of Rememberance and as a random boss encounter in any other level.Shepenwepet wrote...

Oh....thats disappointing. I was looking for a reason to get back into the game.

I just couldn't justify paying 40 bucks for something I pretty much already had. I heartily recommend it if it comes down in price.

I finally started the main quests in Gran Soren, This shot is my Arisen fresh from her harrowing escape from the Everfall, about to... I believe the technical term is "glomptackle" Barnaby.
Well, it would have been if I hadn't turned the camera around. Now it's some weird transparent Ronald McDonald head.

Sexy.

I'm just getting ready to go into the Greatwall, to fight Elysion (Deny Salvation). It's my first time. I read up on it a little bit, (and it sounds like pure chaos). I'm glad I did, though - otherwise, I probably would have rescued Aelinore first, and been disappointed with an unwanted romp with someone who looks like a little girl. Yikes.
I'm crossing my fingers that Reynard pops up as the one I need to rescue; I did give him my Arisen Bond.

If Fournival ends up being mine, I'm so letting the dragon eat him. Hehe. His Magnanimous Cape wasn't all that.
I read up a bit on the quests ahead of me this morning, and I'm curious to see what Gran Soren will look like after everything happens. Why I never finished my first playthrough is beyond me. Now I have two of them to complete, and no NG+ credit yet.

I get a message that my pawn has assisted another Arisen. He came back wearing a dress, saying he "tried his hardest."

WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU, SHINON?

Although I can see where you would question what they were doing with him.

Whoever put him in that dress wanted him to keep it.
And when you get the pawn back, a window pops up that asks if you want to equip them with their old gear. So I'm partly to blame. He just looked so proud of himself.
