Can I just say I love Bitterblack Isle?

Because I do. I love it. I fought my first elder ogre, and despite my pawns saying it targets men above all else, it would not STOP targeting my female Arisen. possibly because she was ricocheting arrows into his face non-stop. That might have something to do with it.

Me too. I do believe I'm hooked. However, I'm also kind of stuck. I got one of those Moonbeam Gems, and got the torso piece of the Trophy armor...of course, my character is a Mystic Knight for now, and can't wear it. I think I'm going to switch her back to Magick Archer (I mean it this time). I thought MK might be more effective, but I'm not so sure that is the case. For me, at least. I think double-jumping might be more handy than levitating in some areas, too. And I never use a staff, so...

I haven't bumped into that elder ogre yet. I did, however, run into that same enormous eye you have in your snapshots. We were not prepared for that, and ended up fleeing. Well, once I wasn't blinded anymore. Yeesh. Before we left, I looked up at his health bar - good lord, we barely scratched it. It also kinda gives me nightmares of that eye boss at the end of Persona 4. This one is much scarier-looking, of course.

I also met some goblin kings and sorcerers, and after they were dead, I went back into that main large area where all the hobgoblins usually are, and they were there, along with a cyclops. No biggie, I think. Then this ridiculous black wolf thing runs out and bamfs me. Dead. One bite. I guess I should have heeded the warning about killing powerful enemies, and having more spawn because they smell them, or whatever, lol

So, once revived, I went back there, and we ran around them, to the area where the chained goreclops is. We took care of the gargoyles and sorcerers, and all seemed well. I looted the area, found a couple of sidepaths for more loot, then went back in to see the clops. I stupidly picked up a dynamite barrel, and took it towards him, and he busted out of his chains. We ran like hell out of there.

So, yeah, I didn't actually defeat much of anything last night, aside from a random cyclops, harpie, and whatnot, but I did get a bunch of loot. One nice longsword (Saving Grace) that neither of us can use, since I switched my pawn into a mage. I might have to switch her back, hehe.

I borrowed your pawn all evening - that should give you some rift crystals, once I return her. I love her outfit! Image IPB

They'll occasionally still do that to me. You CAN'T be in front of it when it charges/lunges at you. Garms don't mess around. If you switch to a magick archer (which I now love) you can lure a Garm into the adjacent corridor and spam Ricochet Hunter. It's a tad harder to dodge in such a small space, but the fight's over in seconds. Seriously. Seconds. Carcharoth wasn't joking about the obscene power of ricocheting arrows.

I haven't bumped into that elder ogre yet.

Elder Ogres are one of the "carrion feeders", I started encountering them in the dark sewer-type section.

^ Good, good. Magick Archer has seriously got to be the best class in the game, aside from their arrows being almost completely ineffective with golems. But alas, I haven't seen any in BBI yet.

So that thing is a Garm? This one seemed really hungry, as he kept chomping on my pawns. I spent more time trying to get to them to revive them than I did anything else. Then I died. The end. I'll have to try out the ricochet arrows. I know I've used/tested it before, but I always map it to B and forget about it.

Have you completed the Trophy Armor set yet? I think Carcharoth said he did. I can't wait to see the complete set. I looked for it on the wiki, but didn't find it. I tried the torso piece on his pawn, since she was the only archer in my party, and I love it so far. I think I'll switch back and forth between his pawn and Shinon, so you both get RCs. And I get help beyond my level!

I'm currently wearing the full set right now. Once I figure out my networking issues, I'll stick it on Briana before I update her online. We're level 200 now, by the way.

Oh, did I mention Garms can come in packs?

You've got to be freaking kidding me. Garms in packs? I am in trouble, as I ran from ONE, with my tail between my legs.

Briana is level 200? She was 127 when I hired her. You haven't synced up in quite some time, eh?

I only just fixed the problem with my internet. She should be updated any second now.

Oh look... I found a new mage named Gabrielle.

Hehe, yep, that's my pawn. She probably won't be a mage for much longer. She doesn't even have High Anodyne yet, so she's not much use. lol In retrospect, I kinda wish I would have made her taller. Waa.

She'll probably be a warrior once I get home from work, so I can let her try out that new sword. Image IPB

I'm guessing time doesn't pass on BBI? I've spent what should amount to many, many in-game days there, then I return to Cassardis to give Aelinore some newly acquired liquid effluvium and find this:
Image IPB

Well, it looks like her affinity's at zero now anyway :)

I'm supposed to be looking for goblin shamans in the witchwood. I seriously can't find them. I killed two bunches, but there aren't any more. I must have gone around the entire map twice. Ugh.

Moving on, here's an elder ogre with arrow antennae.

I'm addicted to taking screenshots just as much as playing the game itself.

^ You know, I think I may have actually fought one of those ogres. Its loot drops were different than a regular ogre, so maybe I did? He wasn't very difficult, so maybe not.

I keep bumping into one in a place where there's a harpy. They seem to respawn nearly every time I leave the area and come back. But in general, it sure doesn't seem like time moves at all while you're in BBI.

I love your snapshots! I should start taking some myself!

I just killed one of those (and two eliminators) in the sewer area before Gazer. A certain "height challenged" mage was doing a good job at keeping me healed and staying alive.

Interesting facts.

+Every human in this game appears to be Jesus. When killed they resurrect three days later.

+Duke Edmun must be one of the worst fictional leaders ever. Gransys is defended from the monsters past The Shadow Fort by only four guards. It's no wonder the fort is overrun twice. Apparently the region past The Shadow Fort is a completely wild and hostile region where "legions" of monsters live.

You'd think that such a vital fort for the defence of the realm would be defended by an army. Meanwhile wonder a few meters from Gran Soren - the capital - and you've got bandits prowling about. Seriously not only is Edmun a crappy leader but it appears his guards are lazy too, they won't even dispatch the bandits *right outside* Gran Soren.

Seriously, let The Dragon rain fire upon Gransys. It would be all the better for it. The monsters would be gone and all the humans would resurrect three days later anyway.

P.S

LV 50 and still at hard mode. Much more balanced now but still rather difficult. I noticed that there are undead mystic knights at night-time just as you come about the cliff leading to the fort populated by female bandits. They are tricky buggers to kill. My character can still be one shot by magical spells such as a fireball but his physical resistance is pretty good. He's able to block fireballs though and the holy assistance ability of the Mystic Knight (what I'm rolling as now) also helps restore health (I'm doing a single pawn run-through and she happens to be a fighter at the moment and I have no intention of making her a mage/sorcerer).

I'm having a problem with the drake. It's fire breathing attacks one hit kill and my attacks are pretty much useless against it. I fought it at LV 42. I think I'll try again at LV 60 considering a fireball from a chimera can one hit kill me if not blocked.

TWO GORECYCLOPS, THREE GARMS, MAELSTROM SORCERORS, NO LANTERN OIL

WHAT

...after I managed to stop panicking, my pawns went and apparently killed the casters, and I drew the Garms into the corridor and killed them quickly, (my pawns were long dead by this point, I was all by myself and hoping I'd brought wakestones) after that, one of the Gorecyclops was standing by the doorway, so I gradually picked him off with ninefold bolt. He dropped his cudgel during this exchange, and it killed me. Somehow it fell through the ceiling or something. Wakestoned.

I ran into the room and made a beeline for my fallen pawns, revived them and carefully felled the other Gorecyclops. I looked in my inventory, finding no more wakestones.

Had I been any other class but Magick Archer, that wouldn't have ended well. Crazy fun battle, though. Kept me on my toes.

That room was fun as a warrior. And by fun, I mean all my pawns were squished and I ran for the next room after the garms were dealt with.

I ran through the room the first time, only seeing the two chained up Gorecyclops, I was more interested in finding loot, i figured I could deal with them later. But when all my pawns started shouting "help me", I figured something had to be going wrong. I went back and was almost instantly killed thanks to maelstroms blocking my vision. I tried to liftstone out of there, but my hp hit zero before the animation took. the game hung there for a while, the screen was black, but I could still hear the evil pawns casting maelstrom. It eventually fixed, and I wakestoned/liftstoned.

I went back in prepared for the casters and two prisoner cyclops. The three garms were an unpleasant surprise. On the plus side, by the time that battle was finished, I'd gone up three levels.

Oh, and re:goblin shaman in witchwood, as soon as I loaded my game, Shinon shouted "that goblin bears a staff!" I'd quit right on top of the friggin' thing.

And finally, the sturdiest rickety wooden bridge in all of Gransys:

They made things better in the old days. If that were a modern, rickety wooden bridge, it would have broke the moment the golem looked at it funny.

Well, I defeated Grigori for the very first time last night (with Carcharoth's help, thank you!). Now that is how a dragon battle should be. I love me some Skyrim, but even Alduin was a pushover compared to that. Granted, I'm only level 59 (now), but I had only fought two Drakes before that.

And I ended up with Madeleine. It could have been worse. At least I got a merchant!

The loot was nice, although I wish I would have chosen more wisely what I was wearing. Should help out in BBI though, I think.

So after that, I ran around Gran Soren for quite some time, inspecting the aftermath, accepting quests. collecting rubble (thank goodness I kept that crap I bought from Reynard), and lamenting all the tufts of hair I sold, because I didn't think it would actually be needed.

And then I went into the Everfall. Wow. My first enemy was a giant eyeball. The fight started off poorly, because I had no idea what to do, then eventually, his eyeball popped out, I hit it with my daggers a couple of times, and it was all over.

Then later, I fought a gorechimera, a golden golem, lots of hellhounds, some skeleton mages, phantasms, grim goblins, harpies, lots of undead, a drake, etc. And I walked out of there with not much new loot. Waa. Oh well, we got lots of new materials. And I'm one wakestone short. One. Blah. I guess tonight, I'll keep on chugging.

Just letting you know, if you complete the game, there's no "post-post game", you can't run around afterward. I think the second you use the 20 wakestones, you're stuck unless you finish, after which you'll be booted back to the start of the game, and your progress in BBI will be reset.

If you don't plan on ur-dragon farming, the everfall is a good place to gather wakestones, which are always helpful in BBI. You get 20 per kill for the offline Ur, which is pretty nifty.

As for dragonforging stuff, don't worry about it, you'll soon be running out of stuff to dragonforge to begin with. That cursed dragon flopping around on the bridge was -I think- the third one I fought in that session. I'm not sure what the chance of them dragonforging equipment is, but it's certainly quite high.

Wow, really? Huh. I guess I'll be dropping those wakestones off with Asalam, and will be doing something else, then. That seems like a strange setup to fail. I mean, I was pretty much led by quest markers to go down there in the first place.

Wait. Did I read that right? That's where the Ur dragon is? So if I had kept going in the Everfall, I might have unintentionally ended up fighting that thing? Oh, good lord, I am not ready for that.

I suppose before I head back to BBI, I should probably wander about the wilderness a bit. I haven't been outside city walls since the sky went dark. I should also switch up my party - it probably won't be particularly effective to traipse around with 3 archers and a mage. Hehe.

He's in the chamber of lament, IIRC. Your pawn fought the online version with me. Kind of wish I could send larger amounts of items to other players right now. I have a few hundred wakestones. And Shinon helped me kill a dire drake, dire wyrm and cursed dragon.

Wow, you've been busy! My only dilemma is which of you guys' pawns to hire...considering they're both archers! Image IPB

And of course, that's what I like to play, too. So then I end up with a scenario like I did last night, with the all-archer + one mage group. It went better than I'd have expected, but that poor mage had to work overtime. She seemed to cling pretty closely to my Arisen, iirc.

I'm debating on which class my pawn should be. It seems like every time I get a really good piece of gear, I switch her to something else. It probably makes sense to try out every class for your character, as well as your pawn, so you can acquire more core skills and augments, yes?

Some classes have skills that are invaluable to others. The sorcerer, for example, has an augment that greatly boosts magick damage. That's useful for magick archers and mystic knights since their damage relies primarily on the magick stat.

Gabrielle just beat the offline Ur Dragon. She should also have the full twilight armor set and a dragonblood ring.

So I'm pretty sure I'm on the last boss in DA. The big demon guy who was in love with his pawn. He's easy to evade and hit with magic arrows, but wtf he takes no damage!!! My main pawn and I are lvl 80 (Magic archer and Ranger, and I also have a lvl 151 sorcerer and lvl 90 mage in the party) and it took us like 15 minutes to take about ONE health bar from him. It's crazy :o

Ooh, awesome! I can't wait to get home from work to check that stuff out! Six more hours, though (unless I skip lunch), waaa.

Well, crap. I guess I'll be doing a switcheroo on both my character and my pawn at some point, then. I need a skill that will let me carry more gear - it seems like it doesn't take much before my character is hobbling around like an old lady. I do use my pack mu--err, support pawns, but still. I'm even careful to wear light armors if I can help it.

Maybe I'm just a little too interested in picking up every single thing I see. I used to drive my husband nuts when I was playing Oblivion back in the day - I'd pick every flower, and loot every single barrel. Don't want to miss anything! Heh.

Be sure to resist the urge to murder knife him when he reminds you what a portcrystal is for the 3000th time.

But yay, pawn knowledge! I still haven't encountered a dire drake/wyrm.

I'm mostly going to be scrounging for materials tonight. I'm goldforging the heck out of my inventory and my storage. I just wish pawn equipment would dragonforge too. That would save me some time. Also I reeeeally don't want to switch from a magick archer. I've been spoiled with ninefold bolt and ricochet hunter. Wow, if there's a ring that boosts Ricochet Hunter... look out, BBI...
