They are so deliberately going old school with this game and I love it.

I created a facebook account the other day (can't remember the name as the name was random mumbo jumbo) to ask a few questions on the Dragon's Dogma facebook page. I asked many questions and among them was one question about the dialogue tree. Sadly, they've yet to answer that one, what they did answer was my question about griffons:

10) If you climb on the back of a griffon will it fly into the sky with you? Yes, the griffon will fly when players have grabbed onto it. However, the size of the character and their weight impacts how the griffon flies. Very heavy characters for instance will prevent the griffon from flying effectively, allowing for their party members to reach it and attack it.

Now I suspected this all along based on the few screens we had seen but I never knew your character's weight had this much effect.

You know, some may view DD as an action-RPG with little depth but this proves that there's great depth to the game. I remember that in that golem trailer, a little hint box came up saying that heavier characters can withstand areas that are windy and that they can move more freely in them whereas lighter characters find it more hard.

So I'd imagine wearing light or heavy armor has lots of impacts outside of combat. I'd imagine that even the natural weight of your character has an impact too.

The rest of the questions aren't really that interesting:

1) Will there be any more screen shots? Yes. We’ll continue rolling out new screens, videos, and other gameplay information as we make our way closer to the launch date.

2) Will the game support DLC? Yes. The game supports both pre-order retailer specific DLC and we will also have a full suite of DLC available post launch. Details to follow.

3) What kind of loot will the monsters drop? All kinds! Gold, armor, weapons, potions, crafting materials, and all manner of other items you’d expect.

4) Will you be releasing the Berserk armor set in America? Yes. The Berserk armor set will be included on disc in all territories.

5) Is there lightning magick? Yes. Magick classes such as the Mage and Sorcerer will be able to manipulate a variety of elemental magicks, such as lightning, fire, and ice.

6) Do the changes in night to day affect anything like monsters or quests? Yes. The day/night system impacts the monsters that players encounter, as well as influences certain quests.

7) Will there be a limited or collector’s edition? At this point there is no planned collector’s edition.

8) Will there be any Capcom exclusive content, either in the game or as DLC, like Phoenix Wright or Dante as Pawns? At this point there are no plans to include Capcom specific characters in the game. However, given the flexibility of the character customization system in the game, players may be able to create some of these characters on their own. :)

9) Will you be able to tame any of the creatures and use it like the griffon or dragon? There is currently no option to tame any of the monsters.

10 more questions tomorrow. Let's hope they answer the question about the dialogue tree or maybe we'll see it being displayed in the video tomorrow.

You need to hound them about a PC version.

I'm starting to doubt it will ever happen.  The marketing for this game makes me think Capcom is treating it as a niche product.  I don't expect Dragon's Dogma to be a surprise bestseller either.

2) Can you switch your active character to control your pawns directly?

Players will not be able to take direct control of their pawns.

3) Will there be co-op in future sequels?

We certainly hope DD will be a great success and players will want to see a sequel, but for now we can’t confirm anything regarding future titles.

4) How many dragons are there?

Revealing that would spoil some of the game’s surprises, so you’ll have to play to find out!

5) How does Dragon’s Dogma compare to Monster Hunter?

While at first glance there may seem to be similarities between Monster Hunter and Dragon’s Dogma, both games are distinctly different from one another. Dragon’s Dogma offers a rich open world for players to explore and has more story elements than games in the Monster Hunter series. Additionally, Dragon’s Dogma is a single player experience that utilizes the revolutionary Pawn System, giving players intelligent and responsive AI companions as opposed to relying on a multiplayer system. Lastly, Dragon’s Dogma custom skills, boss grappling, and DMC influenced combat provides players with an experience completely different from games in the Monster Hunter series.

6) How will Dragon’s Dogma be different from other Action RPG’s?

Dragon’s Dogma differs from other Action RPG’s in that it offers a signature blend of Capcom’s renowned action with an incredible open world and rich story line. With hundreds of fully voiced NPCs, vast open environments, and the epic monsters fans have come to expect from Capcom, Dragon’s Dogma is a unique take on the genre that only Capcom could produce.

7) Is the game fixed to one difficulty setting?

Yes, the game is fixed to one difficulty setting and it will be up to players as to how they best navigate the game’s challenges. If an area is too difficult, players may want to change their party and swap out their pawns for new, more powerful ones.

8) Will you be able to continue the game after you’ve beaten it?

Yes, Dragon’s Dogma will allow users to continue to play once the main story has been completed. Stay tuned for more details on this. We will release details here closer to the launch of the game.

9) Will there be any romance options?

Yes, Dragon’s Dogma offers several romance options for Male and Female characters throughout the game including same-sex relationships.

Live stream on now:

http://www.capcom-un...rector_on_board

What I've seen?

The player can climb up buildings and jump from building to building. In other words, there's free-running in the game. All pawns can be customized and speaking of customization, you can even choose two different eye colors meaning that one eye can be blue while the other can be brown. There's tattoos as well.

However, I also noted that no one seems to struggle when you pick them up. The player picked some guard up and he didn't even strugle. He then threw him of off the castle walls and the guard got up. He somehow survived but in a way, this isn't shocking considering guards in most RPG's are normally very powerful until you reach a certain level wherein you can whoop their asses with ease.

Looks like the live stream ended. I look forward to seeing all of it when it's posted. I missed a good amount. I saw the character in some dark forest where there was some passive wild life wondering about when I first started watching.

This was confirmed ages back:

http://www.destructo...on-211659.phtml

Also, people asked Capcom whether the PC was getting DD via the comments section. I'm not sure if they answered but they are fools if they don't intend bringing it to the PC.

Yes they are. I can deal with waiting longer for it as long as it comes.

I think it would honestly do better on PC. The Witcher is a niche game and it's quite successful after all.

Ummm. Sorry for  not mentioning this earlier. I forgot but Capcom introduced an uber awesome badass new feature into the game and no, it's not this. You can take awesome sexy pictures! Awesome, I know right?

Joking aside. You can actually take in-game screen shots. When you enter the menu while in-game, the last option allows you to take a screen shot. I'd it works akin to Halo where you can view the screen shot from the main menu. I hope we can also set them as themes on the Xbox 360 dashboard. I wouldn't mind that.

But finally, an RPG that will allow me to capture awesome moments. I like the way these guys think.

BTW, the recorded video is up:

Click.

I just watched the video.

It was nice. Wish we got to see more of the female customization though, really wish I could have been there while it was happening, I had some questions that I don't think were even asked, or the dude picking questions didn't pick the same questions I had.

It's a shame I won't be able to play it right when it comes out. I'll have to wait about 7 months probably.

Gotta bring this back because I'm putting aside the money I planned to buy Mass Effect 3 with towards this instead.

Check out this new video.  It's hilarious!  Shooting apples from trees and picking up/carrying animals!  Yay!

Oh, and I like how the music sounds as well.  I was little worried how it was going to turn out.

I'm curious to know why, if you don't mind telling.  I personally haven't preordered ME3 either and won't.

I've had enough with EA's business practices.  I was ok with first day DLC because it was all free for new purchases of the game.
From Ashes was the final straw.  I do not care how unimportant it is to the main game.  The fact that they want another 10 dollars for content on release of the game is something I cannot abide.
I will most likely buy ME3 sometime down the road when its cheaper.  If it were on steam I'd wait for it to go on a steam sale like I just did with DXHR.
The very fact that a DLC that has a Prothean join your squad isn't important is the big thing..... Whats that tell you about ME3's writing if their going to bring a Prothean into the game and say he's not in the slightest important to the game?

My eyes do not decieve me do they?
Did I just see rooftop hopping that could rival Assassin's Creed?
At this point Capcom's marketing should just come out with a list of what you can't do in this game.
Would be shorter and easier to compile <3

Thanks for the reply, Rockworm503. I don't want to derail the thread too much, but I tend to agree with your answer. I haven't been following ME3's info too closely as to avoid spoilers, but the things I have heard, well, I'll just say I'm not thrilled about. It just reminds me too much of DA2.

Anyway, I've been keeping my expectations low for Dragon's Dogma, so every little thing they release is a very nice surprise. I'm really liking how it's shaping up.

Yeah.  Let's not bring that here.  You can find the topic on the ME3 forum.  I am looking forward to seeing how this game is though.
