Shinon is thinking, His abs are not hot. I just get this feeling that Great Thoughts don't really roll through Shinon's head all that often.

Young man, there's no need to feel down
I said young man, pick yourself off the ground
I said young man, 'cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy
Young man, there's a place you can go
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough
You can stay there,
And I'm sure you will find many ways to have a good time
It's fun to stay at the

You can hang out with all the "boys"

It's fun to stay at the YMCA...
You can get yourself clean,
You can have a good meal
You can do whatever you feel...
Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said young man, you can make real your dreams*
But you've got to know this one thing!
No man does it all by himself
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf
And just go there, to the YMCA, I'm sure they can help you today

I said I was down and out with the blues
I felt no man cared that I was alive
I felt the whole world was so jive...

There may be a work around for the gift thing, but I don't personally know how (or if) to do it.
Having said all that, I am more than willing to give you some items that could be used by a Magick Archer. When you are ready, just set up Arya as either a Mage or a Strider/Ranger, and I will gladly gift her some appropriate items.

For example: You get a BBW lvl 2 and godsbane till you find out what the set is by purifying it and whatever it gives you will narrow it down to 3 sets. Switch vocations and godsbane again till it gives you a different drop. You should now be able to find out all three possibilities and if it has the weapon you wish to give you send it to them. They set their vocations to the appropriate one and purify it and it should be the weapon you want to give them.
I hope that was easy to understand and not to much of a wall of text.

I actually had one in the works before the fire barrel incident, but it was only the last verse of Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper.. A lot of it didn't lend itself well to a DD interpretation. I also looked into I'm Too Sexy but I don't think I can make that work either.
Now, to business. In regards to gifting BBI stuff, the set changes when you send it to someone else. I sent Happy Daiz my Blasphemer's Cloak (the set it belongs to is the wonderfully varied Blasphemer's Cloak/Blasphemer's Cloak/Blasphemer's Cloak) and she ended up getting Traitor's Armor. You can still abuse the system by sending and resending unpurified stuff until someone gets something they want.
There's also this workaround which I haven't tried because I didn't know it was a thing.

What the heck does number 6 mean? The number of high tier armor set pieces you've received thus far? How would you even know that? For the Armor. Unlike the Weapons the Armor lv.2 is not needed, instead the only thing that is needed are the Armor lv.3. The Armor lv.3 has a hard to explain pattern. it is advised to do what is written here.
- Step 3: Get another Armor lv.3
- Step 4: Purify and look at the results of the armor lv.3, If its a Low tier Armor(Sin, Grave, Shadow Armor Set) Look at Step 5. if its a High Armor Set(Hellfire, Carrion and Oblivion Armor Set) look at Step 6
- Step 5: Godsbane yourself. Redo Step 2, 3 and 4
- Step 6: Memorize the number of the High tier Armor Set piece. Because the next High tier will come after the same amount of Armor lv.3. this will potentially make it easier for you
- Step 7: Keep on getting Armor lv.3 until you get the piece you need, or proceed until you got an entire set, Basically you can continou until you get everything you need.
- Step 8: Done
Speaking of armor, I'm not sure why I've been so concerned about the Shadow armor, which is considered "Low", when I should be aiming for Oblivion? In any case, it looks like I need both my Arisen and my pawn to be yellow.
I guess I will be changing our vocations...again.
I tried to play Assassin for a while last night, and granted, I was rusty, but I sucked at it. Bad. By the end of the night, I was back to MA. And Gabrielle is back to being a mage for now. I got Dragon's Ire dragonforged, so I'll be improving that, and sending her back in as a Strider for a while.

That... actually doesn't sound like a workaround, now that I think about it. You still have to do a lot of leg work. I think it'd be easier to just keep swapping unpurified stuff back and forth, unless an unpurified low-tier armor is stuck in low tier no matter how many times it changes hands.
When I'm on tonight perhaps i can wrangle one of you into trying that, we'll just keep tossing an item back and forth.

I had heard that the set changed but I was not sure if it actually did or not. Good to know it does.
Oh and that song is pretty awsome.

In the meantime, I think I too might start using the chest guide, and Godsbaning a bit. See what I can pick up.
Question: is it only critical when "cleansing" a cursed item, to be set up in like vocations with your pawn (yellow/yellow - Ranger/Strider or MA/Ranger), or is it more (same) critical to be that way when picking up the cursed loot?
*edit* Good god, that was a messy question....hope I made at least a little sense. >.<

Same thing with when someone gifts you cursed gear. Whatever you and your pawn are when you rest determine what the purified gear type will be.
They're making us work for it!
But, at least you can save before you purify it, and if you don't like what you get, you can gift it to someone else. Or play Ping-Pong with them until you get what you want.

Have to admit that the last posts relating to Godsbane and armour makes no sense at the moment, but I'll get there ... eventually! Have only just fallen into the Everfall, so still have a lot to do.
Thanks for gifted items, they are v much appreciated.

Crap....figures. LOL If I wasn't such a loot addict, it wouldn't bother me (I would just roll with whatever vocation I wanted to, and same for my pawn....hello Warrior/Mage combo!
Thanks for the heads up, @happy_daiz.
@newschmoo - I plan on picking up Thomas again this evening. Have fun in the Everfall!

No, I don't believe it is. Every set has something from each vocation color, so you can't really influence the drop to be a "certain color". The set IS determined at the time of the drop, but that has nothing to do with what vocation you are. It's just random, one out of ten sets.
Again, I don't see how this would work. When you get a gifted piece of armor, the set is determined, yes, but I don't see how vocation enters into it.Same thing with when someone gifts you cursed gear. Whatever you and your pawn are when you rest determine what the purified gear type will be.

I was actually thinking about this while I was in line at the bank today, (doesn't everybody?) and I now don't think it would work. Normally when you destroy a cursed item because you don't need the items it gives you (maybe you want to save the rift crystals) the next BBI item to purify will end up being the same thing you trashed previously. While gifting changes the item set, I think if it's given back, the original owner is still stuck at the same place in their "list", if that makes sense. I'll try it anyway, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

+Purify it at Olra for 25,000 RC to receive one of the armor's pieces listed below, result is determined by drop and actual Vocation of Arisen and Main Pawn - see Notes for more detailed information:
= I need a drink. There seems to be no luck involved at all. After some research it seems at the time of the drop the slot of the armor is determined. For instance, a 'fabled 13' leg item. If you are a Magick Archer, Mage or Sorcerer, this will be Grave Greaves. If you are an Assassin, Strider or Ranger this will be Boots of Shadow, and if you are a Warrior, Mystic Knight or Fighter this will be Betrayer's Greaves. So, a piece of Armor is determined at the drop- unless trading it between pawns can change it. Now, there is a chance it will be one of the 'truly rare' types as well, also determined at the drop. There's no way to know until you purify it.

That's not as weird as it seems. The thinking about this game at strange times thing...I have been dreaming about it every single night that I've played it, and spend way more time considering my next moves than is probably considered normal. I have driven my husband nuts, talking about it - so much so that he doesn't want to continue playing with his character. And I think about the music. Often. So I get the bank thing, hehe.Shepenwepet wrote...

This whole thing all makes more sense, now (I think). I had noticed that the last three level 3 cursed armor items, received one at a time, were unique, and were items I didn't already have. Each time I purified one, I was worried that it would be something I already had, but it never was. So apparently there was a cursor that just kept moving to the next item, exactly as they state.
Sorry for the confusion!

I could be wrong, and I have been wrong before...LOL...but I think they removed the ability to gift things that can't be worn immediately by your pawns, when they are hired (if that was ever even possible *shrug*). So, in other words, if you want say, a new staff or enchanted daggers for your Arisen to wear as a Magick Archer, then you would need to change your pawn into a Mage and Ranger/Strider, respectively. And unfortunately, since pawns can't be Magick Archers, there is really no way to gift a Magick Bow.
There may be a work around for the gift thing, but I don't personally know how (or if) to do it.

Yes, I realized this as I was lying in bed last night. I was so embarrassed and upset with myself I almost got out of bed, turned on the computer, and edited my post! But alas I did not LOL Well, as for my Arisen, I guess he can rely on his cute self to get himself some weapons and armor; I'm really happy with the way Arya looks!!
I will confess I gave her a boob reduction last night, mostly because armor seems to lie on large boobs funny; they sort of poke out at an odd angle. But now her booblessness doesn't look right either. I'm thinking Capcom just doesn't know how to make boobs lol
I'm kind of wanting to create a new Arisen and pawn (yeah I know you have to save it elsewhere, not a problem). I'd really like a male pawn, maybe a mage. Ah well, idle thoughts.
I'm also baffled by all this BBI talk, but we'll get there some day, Newschmoo!
