I had a somewhat productive evening in Bitterblack Isle. And by somewhat productive I mean I only picked up ONE Blasphemer's Cloak as opposed to my usual 2 or 3. I seem to get the cloaks more often when I purify one item at a time. I know it shouldn't matter, but after selling my tenth extra cloak, I just got fed up. I purified a batch of three, ending with a cloak, low-tier boots (of course) and the low-tier coats, nabbing my first grave mantle. Which reminds me... I may not have re-uploaded ranger Shinon to the server, he might be floating around out there as a naked level 1 sorcerer. If so, resist the urge to hire him until tomorrow night. He might not be that helpful.

I think a few of the armor sets were created with the female body in mind. There's a reason there's no picture of the grave set on a male character on the wiki. It's because it looks ridiculous on one.
Posted Image
^Keep in mind that this is JUST the grave set (featuring Carrion claws), no cloaks or shirts or leggings. It can be tweaked to look slightly better, but bleh.

And the trophy set? On a man? Ick.

(YES, I realize I made it worse by leaving his chainmail bracers on and giving him a mistletoe circlet... and silk tights...but I was kinda going for a "good and evil" theme here.) Why leave the torso part open like that anyway? At least buckle the damn thing.

And now for a pile of crazy.

Killed a wyvern wearing FOUR three star items.

None of it gets dragonforged <_<

I know how that feels. I went and fought the 1 Firedrake + 2 Thunderwyverns in the Rotunda of Dread with the fiend lure, and not one of my 3 three star items got dragonforged.

Not trying to top you or anything, just saying I feel your pain. :)

I have also had terrible luck with BB armor drops today. I managed to get one piece of armor for my pawn but it does not become better than what he has till it is silver rarefied.

Yup! Right there with you motomoto and oknenah. Fought a Thunderwyvern, Wyvern, and three Drakes...got one item dragonforged, while wearing everything at three stars. :P Must be one of "those" nights. <.< >.<

I am about to switch Chase to Ranger. I feel the need to bounce back and forth between Assassin and MA...I don't have the best armor for Chase, but most things are Dragonforged and up (+). He was reset from Challenger/Scather, to Scather/Challenger when I noticed that he wasn't advancing as he should have been (as a Warrior). I may leave him as that for a bit (on Ranger), since just about everyone else I have been hiring has been set to Challenger/Scather (with one exception: Mitigator/Challenger).

@oknenah - Once I switch Chase to Ranger, I will pick up Woolie....it will be a bow/magic free-for-all! :D

Arya is Scather/Guardian :) I was going to change her to Scather/Mitigator, but Shep pointed out how it makes her feel when Shinon just lets her die xD So having Guardian as a second inclination is not that bad. (And she does often help me out when things get too hairy)

Something that annoys me is when I'm trying to stand back and out of the way to cast a spell like malestrom... and instead of distracting the Big Bad for me, the pawns all run towards me like scared little girls... leading the Big Bad right to me. Thanks a lot, guys!

I just recently picked up Chase and have been taking him around. He has been doing pretty good too!

Just fought the group of three drake/wyverns again and no dragonforged gear<_<.

Finally got my Cursed Belt Dragon Forged (hell, I have been wearing that Tarzan looking loin cloth for days now, trying to get it dragon forged. LOL!)

@oknenah - Let me know if you are interested in a change....I have no problem switching Chase up for others. The only time I might keep him a certain class, is if I am going after a known chest for level 3 Armor/Weapons.

@motomoto - I had guardian (primary, and sometimes secondary) during my first run through on the PS3 (well, for the first 60 levels), and I couldn't figure out why my pawn wouldn't attack things....that was the reason. She was more inclined to stay near my Arisen due to Guardian. I don't disagree that Guardian can work well in BBI, because of things like Maneaters, and in BBI, having one of the pawns with a Guardian inclination, isn't terrible.

Before finding people to trade pawns with though, I often found just about every pawn I tried to rent, had Guardian as their primary inclination. Mostly because players didn't know or understand about the inclinations.

If someone is building a team, there is nothing wrong with having a Guardian in the group. The only trouble came when all I had to choose from was Guardians. :P

I had to fight two cursed dragons, 2 drakes, a wyvern, a firedrake and a frostwyrm just to get my Angel's Fist dragonforged. Pyresaurians don't want to drop crimson stone either.

^Good lord man! Where are you at that you had to deal with that lot? The Fallen City? I too have noticed how stingy some baddies are with certain drops. I have started the habit of keeping at least one item in my inventory, so at the very least I can forge it in Gran Soren (man that is boring as hell. *grimace*).

The Forsaken Cathedral, Devilfire Grove, the road between Gran Soren and the Mine, Bluemoon Tower, that room with the moonbeam gem doors and Midnight Helix. I track down and kill every dragon until my stuff gets dragonforged.

I'm certain I had Crimson stone at some point, but I went on a rareifiying binge last week. I need to restock on a lot of items.

I just shut down for the night, but I literally just picked up Briana. I would be happy to gift you one, if you don't pick one up tonight. Put a post in here, and let me know. If you don't have any luck get one, Briana will bring one back to you tomorrow. ;)

The only item they dropped was a pelt. I'd be grateful for that stone and I've sent you a bone lantern as thanks.

At least you can't accuse Capcom of being sexist Shepenwepet. There's revealing clothing/armor for both male and females in this game.

I feel a Seinfeld quote coming on.

Elaine: "Whoa! Walking around naked? Ahh... that is not a good look for a man."
George: "Why not? It's a good look for a woman."
Elaine: "Well, the female body is a... work of art. The male body is utilitarian, it's for gettin' around, like a jeep."
Jerry: "So you don't think it's attractive?"
Elaine: "It's hideous. The hair, the... the lumpiness. It's simian."
George: "Well, some women like it."
Elaine: "Hmm. Sickies."

If I was the type to cry "sexism!" (I'm not, things would have to be pretty extreme for that) I'd point to the voiced ending cutscenes for most - if not all - major female love interests and then to the silent ones for all the males. It seems like they pretty much thought, well, nobody's gonna want a man, so let's not waste money on voicing these cutscenes.

Do I care? No, but I'm sure some people do.

I use commands a lot, which will eventually override set inclinations. Using the "come" command over and over will eventually lead to a guardian, and using the "go" command will eventually create a challenger. If you use commands, it's something to keep an eye on.

Sounds like I was smart to not play last night. Posted Image

The hubs and I started playing Dead Island: Riptide (two copies, two Xboxes). It had been a while since I heard Miss Purna's sassy voice. I died just about as many times in that as I did when I first got to BBI. Heh.

Anyway, to weigh in on the dragons not forging stuff, I'd recommend Cursed Dragons. I've had the most luck with them in that regard, but it might be because they're the ones I see most often.

That business I did the other night at the Duskmoon Tower - fighting a wyvern/drake/wyrm; going into one of the doors (to the Ward of Regret, Vault of Defiled Truth, or Rotunda of Dread); then going right back outside to the Duskmoon Tower spawned a new dragon. Add rancid bait meat after that one is dead, and voila. Everything I was wearing and using was dragonforged by the end of it.

Her first inclination is Scather though. Her second is Guardian.

WHAT?! The female LI have dialogue in those cut scenes?!?!

<_< I have no problem calling a thing sexiest, racist, or homophobic when it is... sexist, racist, or homophobic. So yeah, that's pretty sexist (because it assumes the player is a straight male and will play as a straight male).

But yes when it comes to armor, male and female characters can dress equally sexy.

I have a question: Do you guys only outfit your pawns with the BEST (in terms of stats) armor? Or do you sometimes pick just a really nice looking outfit that might be 100-200 pts less but it looks better?

Because I have lots of AMAZING armor that you guys send me, but I feel bad about using because it may be lower in stats than what she has on. Yet I really want to use it... but I don't want to send out an under-armored pawn. Thoughts?

You may want to look those armor pieces up on the wiki. Some may start with lower stats than what you're using, but could end up being the best armor in the game after dragonforging.

And...my Arisen and her pawn are fashionistas all the way. Posted Image ...unless the armor has super crappy stats. In which case, I go looking for better.

Alynna and Shinon are totally going armor hunting in BBI tonight dressed as Reynard and Madeleine. Stats be damned, they need new merchandise.

Although the Reynard outfit makes Shinon look fat. Like... really fat. I think it's because he has a smaller noggin than most characters. I had to shrink it several sizes before it looked proportionate to the rest of his body, and now it makes the outfits look awful.

@motomoto - Yes, it is not uncommon for me to take slightly lower stat armor pieces and use them on Chase, if it looks good. I never dress up in real life (no joke the last dress I actually wore was my wedding dress.....in 1993!), so I take some strange pleasure from making my little toons "stylish". But I do still have a practical side. @happy_daiz isn't wrong about some pieces surprising you, once they are dragonforged +. They can end up having some wicked stats.

Chase is currently set up as a Ranger, and he isn't wearing the highest defense stats, but considering I don't have that many higher end pieces from BBI yet, I think they will do just fine. And I like how he looks in them.

@Shepenwepet - yup. I used the "come" command quite often, when I was playing last year on the PS3...hence the consistent Guardian inclination. Eventually I read up on these things, and bought some elixirs from Jonathan. Chase is better built than my previous pawn....he had the advantage of coming second. ;) BTW, too funny about the "Merchant" outfits. Look forward to your screenshots. XD

@Carcharoth - The Crimson Stone is yours. You should have it tonight. :) And many, many thanks for the Bone Lantern (says the chicken-shyte who still runs from Death) :D

Looking at the posts it seemed a lot of Wyverns and drakes need to be killed before items can be dragonforged. Only killed one so far, so a long way to go!

I have been using Arya and Woolie for the Everfall levels and they have both been great and not died once. Unfortunately I've not been able to get on the Xbox for a couple of days as I have friends staying so I haven't released them yet. But I will when I can re rift crystals/gifts etc.

Never sure what to give re gifts.

Right now I'm really in need of gold, so anything that will sell well!

I'm so proud of Arya for not dying on you :crying: *wibble* *huggles her cute warrior woman*

I'm actually really excited about my second pawn! It's fun to go through the game knowing so much more about it, too. I can't wait until Seel is worthy of being rented out :) Of course I'll probably change his look 100 times before then *lol*

I'd say some of us have just had a string of bad luck. The chance to dragonforge a three star item with the basic drake, wyrm or wyvern is around 20%. BBI dragons have a higher chance.

@cold - You sound like me; I never dress up in IRL. Hell, I don't even bother with makeup anymore. It's just not worth it. Thank goodness for good skin. I dress moderately better for work, but otherwise, I'm all about comfort. In games, it's different. Such cool stuff to wear, without designer prices. Well, sorta.

Gabrielle was wearing some kinda crappy, but sexy, garb for a while during her Team Sexy days. I had my Arisen wearing that stuff first for dragonforging. I'm just happy to finally have her in a set that I really like, with decent stats, that is all gold forged. It feels like I've accomplished something at last. Yay!

But I just can't do the Grave and Carrion veils. It's weird how they juxtaposed semi-revealing clothes with such ugly face masks to hide the wearer's face. Some sort of modesty, or cultural thing, perhaps?

@new -I'm telling you, cursed dragons are where it's at for dragonforging. ;)
