Very much looking forward to this game. Mass Effect 3 has been one disappointment after another and Skyrim lost it's magic after about 20 hrs of gameplay to me. Hope this is an RPG I can have fun with.
Same here. Dragon's Dogma looks good but does it play good? Hopefully. Hopefully the story going for it is good as well. Capcom better not ruin this.

Still, the biggest draw for me is the character creator. Any news on the demo? Probably not til April...

Watch live now!
Edit:
The assassin class has been revealed. The assassin weilds daggers and bows but they can also use shields which they can use to send companions skyward. They also have counter attacks and one of their counter attacks includes flip jumping onto an enemy's head and cutting their throat. The stream also showed another drake roaming the wilds and it killed the LV 39 hero with ease. Oh and the humans in the game worship one god called the Maker.

I'm actually pretty impressed by pawn AI. I saw one of them automatically mount a ballista to shoot from it.

I'm now more excited. The body proportions look better than Bioware's games. lol
I was worried about the hairstyles, but that high ponytail is the best I've seen in an RPG like this.
The only thing I still don't know about is: how do you access the advanced classes? It hasn't been mentioned if you just need to go to an inn to change your vocation or if you have to reach a certain level/rank with the corresponding base class.

I'd imagine you can choose an advanced class as you get to a certain level. Consider them DD's equivalent of D&D's epic level classes.
Here's another cut scene from the game:
The voice acting is rather good and both the character and PC display rather good facial expressions.

I watched that clip a few times, and it cracks me up every time Arisen gives her those googily eyes. You can just see the little hearts rising above his head. I hope my female character doesn't do the same thing, though. But yeah, the facial animations are quite nice.

Sismance maybe?
Dungeon trailer:
The zombies look varied and impressive but should we have expected anything different? Capcom do make Resident Evil after all so it's only right for zombies in Dragon's Dogma to look as equally as horrific.
What with darkness in DD being literal pitch black, caves and ruins are probably going to have grea atmosphere. You actually need oil to light your lamp and it can run out. Imagine running out of oil while fighting zombies in some pitch black cave...
Resident Dogma?

The pawns themselves, are these named npc's who have backstories, development, voices to them and the ability to engage in dialogue with you? or are they just random npc's that help you out. Don't get me wrong, the system itself seems pretty good (reminds me of dark souls) just wondering about how 'deep' the companions will go.

very important to the story. As far as dialog and such, I doubt they would be anything along the lines of say sharing an in depth conversation with Morrigan in Origins, but I don't think Capcom's given us a whole lot of detail on that yet. But I'm guessing no. Though there are other characters throughout the game world that seem to be pretty fleshed out, and romances are confirmed as well, though I'm not sure if it'll be something like Skyrim's or more like Bioware games.

I would certainly hope Capcom knows how to design zombies, otherwise, how embarrassing that would be for them! And it never occured to me the possibility of running out of oil in the middle of a fight in pitch darkness. That's just awesome!

The story is apparently full of incidental characters.
The pawns are beings from other worlds and when they "die" they return to the rift. That actually happens to any of your pawns if they are not revived in a certain amount of time after being KOed during gameplay
Now that I think of it, kind of reminds me of Lost Odyssey. The characters kind of look like they belong in that game.

A quick question about the pawn system.

Don't get me wrong, the system itself seems pretty good (reminds me of dark souls) just wondering about how 'deep' the companions will go.
It was said that some pawns have backstories and unique abilities but there seems to be a great many who are just random. The second live stream shows that you can talk to pawns about certain quests where they will provide whatever information they know about the area, enemies within and perhaps how to accomplish the quest:
Click.
However, they won't always know about the quest at hand. You can talk to them in other instances where they will seem to stay stuff about the region you are in and offer you advice about how to defeat the enemies but I don't think that you'll be able to interact with them in the same way as you can with companions in Origins.
On another note, here's the sorcerer class at work summoning meteorites:
Click.
It seems to be one of the strongest spells in the game and it actually takes the sorcerer some time to charge up and she begins levitating half way through because that's how powerful the spell is.
Other things I noticed:
- The assassin class is a combination of the strider and fighter as an assassin can use swords, shields, daggers and bows. They can also jump while climbing akin to Ezio's ability in AC2 that he learns half way into the game.
- Companions pick up items for themselves and this can be toggled on and off. You can take the items for yourself or leave them in your pawn's inventory. This is bound to save time for those who can't be bothered picking garbage and crap up. This game says you're a leader and you can literally act and play like one while your pawns fight for you and collect loot for you akin to Overlord's minions.
- You can choose your underpants. The player decided to equip the female assassin with silk lingerie. Like confirmed before, you can wear clothing over other clothing pieces. So you can have underpants, trousers and greeves equipped on your character.
- The Drake can possess your companions and make them into its thralls as shown here. One of the player's companions actually grabs the character and holds her for the dragon to attack her while she is defenseless. This actually leads to the death of the character.
- You can pick dead rats up and throw them for lolz.

No. They should bring it to PC though. That way people can continue to play it years down the line. There's a petition on Capcom's forums with about 41 pages right now and Capcom said they'd listen if many PC fans demand for DD. Personally? I think they'd consider bringing it to the PC if it's successful on console but why they aren't bringing it out alongside the console versions is beyond me. Don't Capcom know that the PC is pretty much the platform for the RPG genre?

Yes, there are a lot of us who simply don't own a console.
The installed base for Origin and Steam is already at around 60 million or so end users, seems like a missed opportunity to launch a big budget RPG on consoles only.
